I have no ice :(

Me neither- but there is something refreshing and refined about having a good sounding, classy audio system thats not ostentatious (sp?).

My old SC400 had a system, and it seemed a bit too showy / high-school for what I was attempting to aim for.

nah its just the lighting, still silver...reference were left over from another car so they got thrown in. eventually after i do a little more to the car and put it on air, ill prolly get the trunk redone...which will include new equipment all around. i have a feeling the motor on the flip out is gonna go out soon so ill prolly be picking up an alpine...my true love. reason its like it is, is for access to the spare, which actually came in handy earlier this week...:pat:

Simple setup:

Pioneer AVIC D3,
car dedicated iPod,
7" headrest screens,
stock Bose speakers.

Sounds great, great Navigation, great picture on screens. Gonna add a sub behind the trunk wall and back seat so you can't even see it, but you can feel it. That's it, call it a day.

Mine was ugly as hell because I stripped the trunk in anticipation of a custom setup that never happened.

Ugly and Junky but it was versatile and hit hard.

Bumped loud when i wanted, and was super clean when I turned it down.

2 PWE-354 15" MB Quart Subs in size matched sealed box with XTANT 302a 2 channel amp wired up for about 600w RMS. the Amp took it like a champ, still works never over heated. I'm on the lookout for a functioning 1001X XTANT or something similar.

(1)jl 13.5 w7 and 1 amp to run it
double din headunit
4 inch speakers - fr dr
6x9 rear deck
optima red/yell/blue top to keep everything nominal
capacitor for usable recycled energy

i am actually on a quest for good quality sound please help me

what i am looking for is to upgrade the speakers in the g50.

i want big RMS power and low freq. for bass for now too much money

i am on a mediocre budget

the sub of choice will be (1) JL 13.5w7

i want 6.9 for the rear deck and i think 6.5 for the fronts, they both need to be components, and also tweeters and two amps one for teh sub and one the midbass

what would u recommend

lol but anyways i know you want 2 12s. my suggestion is find a good installer, ive found that alot of ppl in houston that are reputable, still dont do the kind of work you are paying for. i learned that with my trunk, theres more than a few other ppl that went through the same thing i did =( all the good local installers quit and moved on to other things.

really?... the p500 is underpowering the L5s...i had a cheap legacy 500x2 watt amp b4 i got the rockford amp and i it worked fine. it wasnt crazy loud but it worked with no problems. the problem i have wit the rockford is that when i turn up the volume to a certain point the subs will shut off for half a sec and the protect light will flash on for helf a sec. and the amp is turned all the way down and so its the base on my head unit (stock head unit). im thinking that mayb it could have something 2 do with the head unit. or mayb it does that because the wire that is going into the amp is preamped because of the lexus store stereo system and the high the vilume the more current is going to the amp, iv also heard that it could b the amount of ohms the amp is puting out is messing up the L5s.
the fact that the p500 is underpowering the L5s makes a lot of sence but im almost positive that the lagacy amp was pushing out less watts then the rockford amp is pushing out.
this just gets more and more confusing

really?... the p500 is underpowering the L5s...i had a cheap legacy 500x2 watt amp b4 i got the rockford amp and i it worked fine. it wasnt crazy loud but it worked with no problems. the problem i have wit the rockford is that when i turn up the volume to a certain point the subs will shut off for half a sec and the protect light will flash on for helf a sec. and the amp is turned all the way down and so its the base on my head unit (stock head unit). im thinking that mayb it could have something 2 do with the head unit. or mayb it does that because the wire that is going into the amp is preamped because of the lexus store stereo system and the high the vilume the more current is going to the amp, iv also heard that it could b the amount of ohms the amp is puting out is messing up the L5s.
the fact that the p500 is underpowering the L5s makes a lot of sence but im almost positive that the lagacy amp was pushing out less watts then the rockford amp is pushing out.
this just gets more and more confusing

your amp is going into protection mode the amp can't supply the power needed for the L5,change your amp and you should be good.
Legacy amp 500x2=1000watts total Rockford 500x1=500watts@4ohms kicker L5 1,200 watts peak with a power range of 50-600 watts rms (300watts per voice coil)

P.S. what model L5 do you have Dual 2ohm or Dual 4ohm?

Very nice set-up...

Those kinetik power cell are no joke... I have a 1800 up front and a 2400 in the trunk...

Just as a test... I removed the fuse heading towards the rear battery to see how long it will take for the 2400 to run out... it took 4 days at drving my system at 25% capacity... =)... when ever I tried to crank the system... the amps wheren't getting enuff juice (constant voltage) and will shut down...

lol at one point I was driving for a good two days or so, at low volume, but on the second day when the sub hit, the audio would cut out. then when I stop to check the problem i forgot I took the fuse out by the front battery for something... I was freaking out like I broke something lol.
But damn you lucky you could run a 1800 in the front, I had to run a 1400 cause they didn't make a reverse terminal for my car in the 1800 or above series..

I actually had to extend my starter and alternator wires to make it work...

Well... I used CON EDISON 0 awg Pure Cooper wiring with welded posts from my Alternator & Starter to the battery... then also upgraded all the Grounds in the engine bay with the same stuff... good thing the installer has a friend that works at CON EDISON... LOL... so it was FREE of charge...

damn some big wire too eh?? I'm only running some Kicker 1/0 gauge wire for the setup.. Did you upgrade alternator too or is it still stock??? But its nice to have friends in the field I luck out since I'm an installer as well and know most of the shops. honestly though I'm super lazy on my own setups, but on friends and such I'm way more particular lol... How is con edison by the way? Its there a way to purchase it online cause I know they don't have that here in hawaii =)

Rodneyc77

The Alternator is Still stock...

Con Edison is the NYC Power Agency, who sends us our monthly home electricity bills... It's like HECO, HELCO and MECO out on the Hawaiian Islands...

We used it because it looks more durable and resistant to the engine bay heat... plus if it's capable of supplying power to a whole house... It should handle 200-300 Amps of draw in a car...

I think home depot sells similar wires but it's usually under lock and key...

will keep the factory bose up front as long as they still sound "okay" w/ the w7

bought the amp and subs offf a friend who needed some cash for $100. then spent another $100 or so in materials. i built this in my spare time at the shop i worked at.

I plan on gettin some higher end equipment. I actualy start at my new shop next week and what they sell will depend on what i upgrade to (hopefully will go with some Exile equipment in a similar fashioned install).

enough talking on to the build pics...

Shot of somewhat final product. Back wall was a last minute solution for a car show. It's gone now and will be done much better for this coming season.

Not too hard. I built the box to manuf. specs. The panel you see is just cosmetic. I made a template from carboard and then a lot of test fitting. Once the wood panels was made I wrapped it in thin foam and microsuede. I used velcro to attach it because my air manifold is under one side so I might need access one day.
