anyone know how to put the gold letters on a wooden shift knob?
I was trying to achieve this look except I want it to spell "mazda" in gold http://www.jagshiftknobs.com/images/shiny%20gold%20ok.JPG

Probably have to get the letters stamped, then gold-leafed. But only on unepoxed/finished wood.

the only way to do it right is to have it inlayed. Otherwise it will rub off in time. Or if you can have it engraved into the finish and gold leafed, then cleared. Here's my shifter for example:

The Coventry emblem and mother of pearl band are inlayed.

so if i get a shift knob like this I would varnish it first, add the gold leaf, and then epoxy?
