Hi,
I am new to this site. My name is cleaver and I was refered by Shawn at Scionlife.com.* My family has a 1992 4WD Toyota Previa (red) and I have always wanted to do something to that minivan. I drive it alot and I like the van but its bone stock.* It currently has around 150000kms and it still runs great. The shocks are dead though, so I will need to replace that soon. I want to lower it, but no idea where to look.
Anyways, I just wanted to say hello, and I hope that I will enjoy my stay here :)

Hi,
Im just bring this thread up again. I didnt want to make a new thread for just one pic.
I got some wheel of my van, and got the springs cut (2 coils f/r).
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/cleaverv/DSC02746.jpg
The wheels are Rays Virtricx and its 17x8 front and 17x9 rear all 38mm offset.
Tire size are 235/45/17 all around. Front have no stretch, but the rears have little stretch :)
I know its not even close to vip...but what do you think I should invest in next? hehehe

welcome to the board
you're off to a good start
the paint on the van looks imaculate from the pics
since your shocks are blown, id buy new lowering springs with new shocks, coilovers or like pagongLS said air suspension ;)

Actually, before I joined this site. I actually got shocks already. I got some KYB's and they are already installed. So that is whats holding me back on getting coilvers/air ride.
As for the paint? Actually no, it has alot of chips and scratches and if I had the money I would get it repainted, but too muchh!!! :(
How about a body kit as the next investment? hehe..
yes no?

No... because then you'll have a bodykit, and still have a high car with a lot of wheel gap. You can also bring the rear down even with the front and it will look drastically better... don't forget to cut an inch off the rear bumpstops (they are bolted to the framerails) also

exactly. stance and fitment above all else. 'cause if you ain't got that, you ain't got *ish.

stance first IMO :)
i put my wheels on first because my suspension was still on the boat, and man did it look ugly
looked like those ppl with escalades with 24's but no lowering. ugly

gotcha!
I was actually thinking of that today..and I have decided to fix up the suspension! Body later. I have no money to paint the whole car! hahaha. I dont wanna be those people with unpainted body kits! haha
So I will get suspension :)
OR maybe grill/headlights/taillights! yay!! hahaha
im just getting excited...sorry! :2funny:

Yeah, too bad I dont have the SC...it would be nice!
Oh, I am curious as to how does the previas in japan get such a camber in the back if its a live axle?

They swap in the kouki estima rear ends which were irs... modifications need to be made to the frame, but it's mostly a matter of removing the stock panhard bar mount, and upper spring cups, and welding on the kouki pieces (which are also just stamped sheetmetal oem replacement parts). Most shops charge about 5-6K USD for the swap in japan

actually theres not much of a difference between the supercharged previas and the non-SC models. in fact, SC models have more problems with their supercharger. i have test driven a couple of them and they arent as great as most people think.

ehh...thats a bit pricy to get crrrrraaazy camber in the rear. I will pass on that I guess since I cant even afford a paint job! hahaha
But atleast I know now...thank you :)
with regards to SC and no SC's...hmm I never knew they had more problems. Currently my wheels are making a noise when im rolling, like a tick tick tick tick noise. Kinda like when you were a kid and you put something on the bicycle wheel to make a tick tick noise..same exact noise, and I checked the tires and no rocks or nails... Someone told me its wheel bearing?!?!
One Ton VIP

Possibly a wheel bearing or a CV that needs replacement. You're AWD right? If so, and the noise is coming from the front end, then it could be either a bearing or the CV (crawl under the car and see if any of the CV boots are busted). If the noise is coming from the rear, regardless of whether you're RWD or AWD, most likely culprit is a bearing...

^^ I think your right, its the wheel bearing...Its comming from the front!
The CV boot was just replaced a few years back, so I hope its not that....Is the bearing expensivE?!
crap...this puts a hold on my dreams of a VIP van! haha

For the previa, a bearing and labor to replace it shouldn't be much at all...
