Hey everyone, I came across this forum tonight thanks to the wonder that is Google.

I'm 18, still haven't sat my license and don't have much of a love for cars. I hate racer style cars with neons, bright colors and plastic spinners. I do however, love classic (but modern, if you get me) black BMW's, Merc's, etc. I was bought up around cars and never really liked them, but I love this VIP style. My uncle has a black Chrysler 300C which is no doubt my favorite car.

I've usually ignored Japanese cars, but I have just started to notice some Jap cars that have the whole VIP style and the advantages of a Japanese car (eg. overall cost, cost to have fixed).

I saw a Nissan Gloria that looked great, and I love the Nissan President.

'm looking at buying my first car, and I while I'm a student, I have the advantage of a mum who is in the car business and has a new car to sell every week and the fact I've saved a bit of cash.

I have always had the mindset of saving for a long time and getting a nice car beats getting a shitty car sooner, and I'm thinking about getting that first car real soon.

My question - what VIP style car would you suggest to a student and what outside of the President/Gloria/Cedric would you consider a luxury Japanese car? It doesn't have to be anything crazy, just a decent starter. I probably won't have it for that long, and I wouldn't modify it other than adding some nice rims.

It's tough to say how much I can spend because I live in New Zealand and obviously the value of a car is different to the US. My mum currently has a 1991 Luarel and she'd sell it to me pretty cheap - not exactly luxury, but what do you think?

Welcome Shannon well first understand :"VIP car starts with just that, the platform or the car. Its not a VIP Car unless it starts with one of these cars. From Toyota, you have the Century, Celsior, Aristo, Crown, and Majesta. From Nissan you have the President, Cima, Gloria, Cedric, and the Q45." So pick a car from that list and as you stated you're just looking to add some nice wheels, find the wheels you want, get it lowered as much as you can withstand. (Some will argue this point and say get it slammed on the ground but that's not always the case) I mean there's a lot more i could've said but that's your primary concern so start there with car, wheels and stance then see where you're at and add to later. But please ask a millions question before you go out and buy wheels. Make sure you get the size and offset right the first time to save you time and money.

Of that list, only 3 cars are available in the United States.

You can't specifically use that as a guideline, but only as inspiration. Take a look at any car that you like, try to make it do what you want to do....

Follow the styling rules of VIP and you'll like your creation, whether it be a Q45 or a 3.5RL, an LS400, Jaguar XJ6, Chrylser 300C...whatever.
