Yup, new guy. Just wanted to say I am really diggin the VIP type cars on here. I dont have one my self, but I have a slammed black tinted out ride and I feel pretty important when I am driving it ;D... Heres some pics

I really want to slam her on some bags (the H&R drop wasnt low enough) with 20's or 22's... 21's would be my dream but $2,000 a wheel for lowenharts isnt in my range. I am not by any means trying to be "Vip" I really just like the idea of slammed cars on big wheels, with tires hangin on for dear life. I dont want to be seen as an VIP poser, I am just doing my own thing, not true to just one car culture but having a few references/hints here and there from the many styles I respect. So please dont flame me :buck2:

Well, before any of the Americans come into it, i would like to say i love that car (Impala right?). We dont get those down here in Australia but i have secretly admired them ever since i saw one on Hydro's in Japan
It has a very low and wide look about it, and i think that would really look insane with some low offset, wide wheels (19"s so you can slam it right down and have the lip almost touching the fender)

Anyway, you cant fault black on black. Very nice!

Welcome,
I think some nice deep lipped 20's would look nice on that car, just make sure the fittment is right and the thing will look really nice. Check out the photo gallery to see how much fittment adds to a car and go from there.

good luck with the project

Thanks for the replys guys, and yep its a 95 Impala SS. As for wheels, I cant really decide, some days I like 20's and some days I like 22's it really just depends lol. I am definatly looking into airbagging it asap, my stereos going to be very heavy and I will loose my nice new stance from the springs and plus, I just love bags anyways. I was really considering 22's, but then after seeing how these VIP cars look with 19's and 20's I kinda like the idea of 20's again. Its so confusing, it really makes me go crazy :uglystupid2: it'd be ALOT easier if I new what I want, because then I would be motivated to start saving for a set lol. Heres a impala on 22's and bags, I have a few of 20's and bags, I just really dont like the rims so it throws it off for me, that and the big tires they run on them.

and 20's

I love that look, but I think 21's would be ideal on this car :'( What do yall think? And also where do yall stand on the turn signal mirrors on cars that didnt come stock with them, I have seen them on a few of the Lexus/Toyota's but I dont know if they are stock JDM or what?

See, the thing that with all those cars is that they all tuck the wheels under the guards. In that case, the bigger the diameter of the wheel, the lower it appears when slammed (because more of the wheel is hidden inside the fender) - hence why big wheels are so popular

If you went with the wide stance look, it would be completely different. The wheel would not be 'tucked', it would be fully visible and the lip would appear to be resting on the guard. That is why they tend to stick with 18"s and 19"s when they go for that look in Japan (to go lower without 'tucking')

I'm not saying those impalas tucking 21s arent hot, just saying that if you are going to 'tuck' then just go as big as you can handle (20s or 22s doesnt really matter if most of the wheel is hidden in the fender). If you want the wide stance and Japanese VIP look, you should stick to smaller/wider wheels.

True, I'd really like to see how that would look on this car, I am sure it would be pretty nice since it is such a wide car. What would you reccomend

I would say find some wheels in the 19" range that you like and post up a pick of the car and the wheels in the photo section and see if some of our photoshop gods could do a little chop for you to get an idea of what it could look like with a vipstyle!

I don't think 19's fill the front wheel well enough on the impalas, that's the main problem with 19's, and I don't think 20's look great either becuase everyone I have seen tha that has them has waaay to much sidewall for me. And 22's look a tad big sometimes... If that doesn't sound pickey enough lol. But as for tucking its really unavoidable on these cars, 19's-24's tuck on low pros with the air bags fully deflatted all tuck. I have seen a few VIP lexus's tuck though. Do you think its not VIP style if it tucks when it is fully deflated in the bags? Or is it just at normal ride hidth, because with 22's @ a the lowest possible ride hidth for driving, they will not tuck, but they will as soon as you drop the bags.

As for the style of wheels, I gotta tell you that being from Texas my favorite wheel styles are these: the old school brabus monoblock II, yes the 3 spoke, we call them blades down here, and the lorinser D93 style wheels, which I see a lot of the vip cars have wheels in this full face style the D93's are famous for. Which is another reason VIP cars caught my eyes. My favorite wheels right now are the Lowenhart LS-R's in black, but I don't have the budget that allows for 2,000 a wheel lol... What also sucks is that the LS-R's come in 21's =( one of the only ones besides another lowenhart 5 spoke that I love that still comes in 21's lol. As for wideness, the widest posible size for the back wheels would be an 11' and the front I'd like to stay under 9.5'.

So what do yall think 20's or 22's, or save till I am out of college and get 21's lol? And what style? MHT wheels has a few wheels I could afford that have the fullface style, I couldn't afford over 1,000 a wheel though and the MHT's are right at that. Do yall have any idea what AC wheels go for? I no VIP isn't the wheel but how well the wheel fits the cars luxurious style, and I belive all 3pc wide liped full faces wheels do this, unles they're really exageratted - I know I just butched that word lol..

Thanks for the comments, this is a really nice forum.

Thats 20's and air ride, no fenders taken out. So you can slam it real low and still have minimal tucking.

The thing that sucks about the Impalas is they're not IRS... And no such thing as air struts for an impala :'(

God, I am so indecisive when it comes to this... I look at one car, I love 20's, I look at others I love 22's, I also love black center's and I also love chrome AHHHH... All I know is I what a HUGE shiney lip, 5inches or deeper in the rear...

It's like right when I have it figured out, I change my mind on what I like.

I kinda want the work SH in 20inch chrome.... Where are yall buying yours, I looked on a few sites and they want about 2800 for a set of 2pc 20's, which is pretty good considering what they are.

GM made the front wheel wells so damn big on this car that its throws off the look of wheels..

not an impala, but a close cousin, the caprice. this is how it could be done. can't tell you how it's done, as the pic is from super star's website.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/uncle_el/vip%20rides/capriceonpurespiritrowels.jpg

however, the wheel specs are:
f 19 x 8 +5; 235/35/19
r 19 x 8.5 +0; 265/30/19

with this example, clearly you don't need 20s, 21s, 22s, etc.

Yea, that looks good, but look at all the fender space in the front thats not used up, plus 19x8 thats less than stock, definatly needs to go 19x9 in the front and 11 in the back :buck2: definatly digggin the wagon as a whole though, those style of wheels rock

callaghan.
