avic-z2/z3 questions

is anyone running with this deck or has anyone heard anything good/bad about it n does anyone have a hook up. =)

I don't believe that Pioneer makes a Avic z3 i think you meant to say D3 . Both are great units ,clear picture and can handle most if not all your audio and video needs as well as Navi . I myself don't have one as of yet but like you I've been looking all around for the best price and it seems like Ebay (unless some one chimes in with a deal) might have it .Retail price on these ranges from $ 1000-2200 and i have found them on ebay for like $800-1600 . Your best bet would be to find one of those web site's that break down the In's and outs of the units like this http://reviews.cnet.com/Pioneer_Avic_Z2/4660-12760_7-6684020.html it might help you decide

I have the D3 installed and w/ the Ipod hook up I LOVE IT!!!!!! The D3 go for about $800 now and will probably be at $600 soon! I would love to have the Z2 but that is $$$$ I think around 2K! The Z2 comes w/ everything like the D3 but also has a Hard Drive for storing things....

For the most bang for the buck the D3 is better for what you get IMO, but if I was ballin like that I would get the Z2.....

They also have another model coming out that's like the D3 but NO NAVI, pretty dope and cheap...

I just bought the Pioneer AVIC-Z2 off ebay for $850 shipped (it's refurbished though, but it comes with a warranty and even if I do have problems, I can swap it out at circuit city since I got a friend that works there). They shipped it to me in seriously less than 3 days. I haven't installed it yet because I am trying to build this little trim that goes below it to fit my EDFC in. Overall though, from playing with it at the store and from friends that has it, it's basically an awesome unit to have. Highly recommend it :biggthumpup:

My buddy has the Z3 in his 300 and from what I've seen it is the best. The hard drive is really worth it if you have ton's of music you don't want to carry arround. I picked up a D3 the other day and I love it.. between the 2 i would take the D3 only cuz of the price...If money is not option get the z3 or the eclipse unit with the harddrive (forgot the model number)

Eventually they'll all break down again...

If you have an Ipod then you don't need the HD!
Jus through the Ipod in your glove box and then you endless amount of music!


The only bad part about the D3 I've experienced was when I didn't have the Ipod hooked up, it's a pain to load up the disc for the NAVI cause you have to take out your music DVD then insert the Navi disc then load your route then pop your music disc back in! W/ the ipod you can leave the disc in w/ no music interuptions!

The 3D NAVI on the Z2/Z3 is dope though! :shrug:

Not true, the Z2 has a lot of better features than the D3, not just bluetooth, it has the 30GB hard drive so you don't have to deal w/ popping the nav CD in and out all the time, the display screen is bigger since all the buttons are on the bottom instead of the side, it has smarter voice recognition, store songs internally and command playback vocally, point addressing, 3D graphic maps, it just basically has a lot of newer features and improved on everything from the D3.

thank you all. =) i believe i'll be spending the extra couple of bucks to go with the z2... there is a z3 that just came out... but i was reading on it... and theres not that much of a difference... if any at all. unless it was just a typo ( a typo a typo haha) or something. seems like theres no complaints on either so i dont see why i would be one to start.
