Hey Peeps

Anyone out there that has converted to coilovers on their Y31, what sort of spring rates did you go for? and how do you find the ride and handling, and what sort of driving do you do?

Also interested in the opinion of other car owners and what they have done, even if it isnt a Y31 platform, as long as its RWD and a similar weight.

I am soon to convert mine over, and want to know what people have come up with and why.

Thanks

To help others understand what you mean by "cars of similar weight/layout". The Y31 weighs around 1600-1700kg (3500-3700lb), RWD Turbo V6. Probably almost similar to a Y33 Q45, maybe a bit lighter.

I don’t know what the spring rates were on my coilovers, but in the limited driving I did I thought they were quite good - not too harsh, but very flat on the road. JUDGE might be able to give more info - he had custom coilovers made to his specs.

Nah wouldnt have been me. The Cima was grounded (quite literally) until i installed the coilovers 4 days before i sold it (in March).
Besides, even JDM Trainspotters couldnt have picked mine for a Cima; nobody can tell it has rear doors anymore (its a big surprise when you open them)

Unless the new owner took it up from Canberra to make the cruise??

Been driving a slightly beat-up looking Y32 Cedric since then. Slowly doing it up, but ETA will be late this year due to the time it takes to get stuff from Japan!
