would you consider selling that reference 405? that's one of my og all time fave amps.
And I always thought ppi sedonas were kinda doo doo... their art series were super solid bad ass though, esp if you had the coolant circulation system. but it's sorta all about old zapcos, ads powerplates, etc...

i loved the power precesion art series for their sound quality, but they looked kinda doo doo (like a five year old got to a perfectly nice white amp with some finger paint), but its the sound that counts ;)

also can't go wrong with anything from "penis gold" ;D

yah i personally am not a fan of newer audio equipment, esp amps... EXCEPT for class D stuff. But otherwise, i've always searched for older amps... they are more solid, sound better (imo), and look more industrial, not all funky and weird. It's kinda like how modern stereo installs all look like melted candle wax nowadays... i personally prefer the old skool simple, and more hidden styles of installs.
time to hit up ebay for some old skool soundstream reference or rockford punch amps now!

Hey hey! Im not the only one who appreciates the good ol "cheater amps" of yore!

I have a Reference 405...Im not sure if its enough to satisfy my needs though.

Mmm. my punch 40DSM is great... I've had it for 10years now, Rated at 2x20Watts and yet putting out over 160W when taken down to stupidly low loads. I had 4x12" subs running off it at one point... That rocked!

Yea guys its really funny how people praise brands today, and yea they stand by them.
Now i'm not knocking them because some sound good but its simple product isnt what it used to be,
back then things were solid and new and companies were at its peak now its mass produced which stinks.
aww the good ol' days. :'(
p.s. TL is your 800a2 bridged for subs or for other int. speakers i might pick one up my cousin rocks one,
in his jeep and it puts out some serious dbz let me know.

TLontheDL

the 800a2 is only for my subs and my subs are underpowered. its enough for now until i get the same series but 1000bd. I would recommend the 800a2. Ive had it for almost 10 yrs. they say you should mount it upwards but i lay it down flat and it gets hot that way. ehhh ive done it for 10 yrs and it still works fine lol

Hey Oneton found something here you might like 8)

http://seattle.craigslist.org/ele/145406032.html
Here are two beautiful old school reference amps. These have that rich warm sound that Soundstream was known for back in the day. I'm the original owner of these and have been professionally installed and removed into 3 different vehicles. They were purchased brand new and were NOT refurbished units. They have some light scratches but the cases are aluminum and can be polished back up. The Picasso is rated at 25 X 4 at 4 ohms (50 X 4 at 2 ohm) and the Ref A 10.0 25 x 2 at 4 ohms (1,000 watts bridged at 1 ohm). They were called "cheater" amps as the rating allowed them to compete in the 0-150 watt class but if you are familiar with these amps at all, you know they get very loud and are extremely underrated.

I've got a 15" Orion 2NT sub in my Volvo wagon. It's a single 4ohm coil and they are had as hell to find.

i used to think ppi was nothing but the best back when i 1st got into car audio. the power class chrome or black amps were just awesome and so were the flat piston ppi pro subs.

Pagong
06-10-2006, 11:09 PM
I think the power classs and the black amps doesnt qualify as old school...

When we talk about PPI's old school amps we are talking about the "Art series amps" that can be liquid cooled.
