I remember a few members said they were a dj or was a dj that spin freestyle/breakbeat. I remember talking about johnny 0 and cynthia. Anyhow, I want to know a list of good old freestyle/breakbeat music. I like johnny 0, cynthia, stevie b, timmy t (?), josette, lil suzy, etc. can you guys suggest any?

its hard to find freestyle records, plus they are expensive. :tickedoff:

amoeba in san francisco has an awesome collection of vinyl (freestyle)..... killer remix section 2..
yeah its hard to find freestyle records, everything seems to be mostly digital now a days tho... other than traditional turntablism you could mix everything that you need to mix with CD, MP3, a PC, etc... i have friends that still DJ professional, and they now mix 90% MP3s on a PCs... Songs are stored on an external usb drive. And these guys are at upscale clubs.. no skips, studders, silence, or oppss.. allowed when you have 1200 people with their ears on ya.. and an anal club owner..

man.. i haven't mix'd vinyl in years.. i bet i could still cut it up.... i'd probably loose intrest in 10 - 15 minutes tho.. then just setup a play list in winamp and let that roll.. heheheehe!!

I got a question for the djs. Well this goes to the djs who are spinning with todays music and not back when laptops weren't around. Why is it that djs only use apple laptops and not other brand? anybody notice that?

its the software man its the software. apple with mixing suites makes it just a tad easier. Plus the usb interface on macs
doesnt affect the actual real time mixing where as windows apps sometimes gets lag and startes f-ing up on you then
you are the sorry loser party killer dj and no one wants that so its easier but you can run windows apps to just different.

yes people use apple. they also use other laptops as well. but for the most part people like to use laptops because its more efficient. it beats the hell out of carrying 5 record crates haha. also, it's good if you're a turntablist(skratching and beat juggling) the records start to hisss and lose it's quality after use and beat the hell out of it. but, i still buy vinyl records and like to keep it real. there are a lot of places here that sell freestyle, old school hip hop, and other hard to find goodies. and thank goodness not a lot of people go crate digging for freestyle. they always end up in the dollar bin and that's just more for me ;D

converting analog to digital is not that hard, all you need is a stereo RCA to 1/8 and plug it into a soundcard.
