Hey guys,

My friend have these Toyo Proxes FZ4 (225/35/19). Not sure if it wil fit on a 9.5" wide wheels. Would it be way too stretched? Any advises? I'm looking to put them on today but don't want to waste time. Thanks!

Just stopped by a tire shop, they guy wouldn't install it for me. He said it's going to be too stretched and might leak air... What do guys think??

I daily drive that size with no problems.* Find another tire shop who will do anything for cash :)*

225/35/19 Falken Azenis ST115,* 19x9.5

As far as getting a shop to do it, bigger chains will be less willing to do it. Smaller mom and pop style or smaller performance oriented tire shops have been more accepting in my experience.

shouldnt be a problem...ive ran 225/40/18 on a 9.5, pretty much the same thing...depending on which tire company you choose, it may stretch more or less than other companies of the same size...

just find a shop that doesnt really care...as stated above, big companies fear the liability, not the difficulty...its actually pretty easy mounting them...

bigger chains like ian said wont do it because the tire manufacturer has a certain size fits this size wheel
i know for 9's its 225-275 or sumin in the rnage of what 'fits'

mom and pop shops typically have done it a long time
in my area the shop i go to sometimes does stretching for low riders
215/45/17 on a 9 didnt break a sweat, i know its a basic stretch but thats the idea im getting at
i have 245/40/17 on some 9.5s i have and ud think they arent stretched at all, which really they arent
id prefer a 225 persoannly for fitment purposes

245 on a 10.5 should be just fine

if for some reason u cant seat the bead their are o rings that go inside to seal the tire if u use a regular tire machine
if u dont wanna go that route theres the cheetah method etc. high volume of air really fast, not enough air can escape so it instantly seals it.

as for tires, some stretch more than others
some look very different

in the drifting sence of things r compunds are typically a size bigger when on the wheel
stiffer side wall makes it look wider and generally has more surface area to use.

btw toyo proxes
sqeal everywhere
bad in wet weather
not a very god dry tire either
good for rear tires to burn off in my experience
came wiht my car when i bought it and had them for a couple years
til demon camber + drift ate them haha

Thanks AME_VIP for the photo and the info.

I was able to put 225/30/19 on 9.5" wide wheel. The guy try to convince me out of this tire size at lease 10 times before he tried to put these on. I kept on objecting his comment and told him it's been done many times, just do it!!(bribed him with a 12 pack to keep his mouth shut and work)

Result is awsome(exactly like AME_VIP's photo). My friend was following me last night and he said the lips were reflecting off his HID beams like crazy.

Good luck for the rest of you!!

The car gets beat on pretty hard, the only time it looks nice is after coming out of the piant booth or when I fix the aero and repaint from "off-course" excursions...haha.

Those are 18's? Man they look sweet. They look like 19's..When you have such a big dish it allways makes the wheel diameter appear bigger. Nice, Nice, Nice..

The Mercedes is my new project..the Z is an ongoing project..heart transplant next. So anyhow..lets get back to this thread! Haha, sorry for the hijack!!

I love the wheels and the car. I've seen it on ZT.

This guy is going to be stretching 19s not 18s. With 19s you have less sidewall to stretch and therefore a 225/35/19 on 19x9.5 is more extreme than 225/40/18 on 18x9.5

Actually, you have now touched on another aspect of visual design I call fender height. That refers to the height, or distance, between the wheelwell opening, and the top of the fender. you will notice that on sports and sporty cars, the fender height is much less than, say, on a big sedan, or even a simple economy car. The smaller the fender height, the lower the car appears, and the bigger the wheels appear. This is why 16s on a Z32, for example, usually look even larger than 18s on a Civic.

And yes, as far as stretching is concerned.. aspect ratio plays a major role in the overall appearance. This is why a 255 on a 10.5" wide 19" wheel can sometimes look even more stretched than the same brand tire in 235 width on an 18x10.5" wheel.
