I've never even driven a japanese car before but I can't get enough of looking at VIP style cars. I'm trying to figure out if I can put together something that is a little bit VIP for a daily driver, for less than 10k. That includes car, wheels, etc... from what I see on this site an older q45 or ls400 is going to be my best bet. I like the whole mystery and dangerous image that these cars project.

hmmm VIP car on a 10K budget is gonna be a little hard to come by since the wheels and body kit will probably cost 10K or more by itself. If you cheap out on the actual car, you might be in for more than you bargained for I would assume since the older cars tend to have higher mileage, especially if they are going to be on the more "affordable" side. That being said, you probably will have to spend a bit on maintenance too, and parts for the V8 VIP cars don't run cheap. The 6 cylinder cars like the GS300 isn't any better. I'm not trying to be pessimistic...just giving a possible case since you only have 10K to work with. Who knows, you might be lucky and find a well maintained car for less than 10k. Surprise us all; you might surprise yourself too! Good luck man! Keep us posted :)

I tend to disagree, I cant say anything about the q45's but the ls400s are very reliable and you should be able to get one with around 180-200k (which is nothing if its been maintained, I have heard of a couple running over the 500k mark) for around 4-5 grand, that leaves you with about 6 k to mess around with, if you get a nice used set of wheels from japan as well as a used kit it should run about 3k for each(w/tires and paint bla bla bla)... bam, nice ls400 built for 10 thousand big ones.. 8)
Welcome btw :D where you located dude?

10k budget??* piece o cake if youve got DIY skills. your best bet is to find that LS400 advertised here for $600(i think) or the q45 for $800

10k is doable.

well I guess it is doable but here's my question: is it possible to spend only 10K on everything and put together a VIP ride that looks like it costs much more?

welcome
10k will be a push unless you will do it mostly diy...you will easly spend that much in parts.

Thanks for all the feedback. I can handle all of the mechanical work that I for see being required. Obviously top of the line wheels and a full Junction kit aren't in my budget but wheels, lowering and a few accessories would make me happy.

Nice rims and a good paint job can make a car look much nicer then it actually is.

10k budget, bro you can do alot.. LS400 cost around 3k, 19" super dope wheels from japan will run you around 2500 (used), still leaves you alot of room to get a slam ass body kit for like 800.. and yeah you also gonna need to get some suspension too, teins 1000. you can find some of these parts on this forums, in no time you will be pimpin. good luck on your project

skip the aero the teins get some nice dished wheels and go with some air or coilovers...then do the aeros and other
mods. Take it from me without the slam and the RIGHT wheels there is no VIP...I have done alot of mods
little and big that have costed much more than some air or coils and I am still not VIP close though
but no cigar. A nice slam and some dished wheels and you are just about done, all the other stuff
is toppings.Good luck on your project.
