View Full Version : How safe do you feel not around your car?
Curious.
Along with VIP style'd cars, come the turning heads & attention you get with your vehicle. In my case (and many others on here), my soon to be project is strictly gonna be my daily also. Luck just so has it, that at my job, I'm in a public shopping area, and will be out of eye sights of my car. My project will most likely be a bagged xA, with the usual must-haves.
How worried are you guys with glamerous cars, that you're not around to watch after all day? hah. I feel un-easy and I haven't even begun the project yet. A pager alarm will def be included, but Im just curious how much 'negative' attention in that way do you think your car brings.
hm.

I always try to take the parking spot next to a curb, so if anyone swings their door open, they won't hit mine. At my work (small parking lot) I take up 2 spots and park sideway. I allready got 2 door dings (one very recent). People do hate on a nice shiny car that looks better than theirs. Others are just plain ignorant and will swing their door wide open.
As for someone breaking into a car...I just try to part in a very populated area.

Honestly, my car is pretty much a piece of junk compared to anything on this site...and I still worry about it 24/7.
Of course having it broken into twice might have something to do with that.

The more paranoid you are about your car, the more the inevitable dings will hurt you... but once you reach that plane of existence where you can accept them, they won't bug you anymore. I give props to those guys who drive their $300K+ hot rods cross country.....I saw an old Ford wagon Troy Trepanier built a while back at a goodguys show, and I do remember that car was driven across a couple states to the show, and it still looked 10000% perfect. Amazing stuff...show AND go

At first, I would never feel safe, I would find myself waking up twice every night just to see if anyone was near my cars. Once I was going to work and noticed my rear drivers side door on my Q45 was dented up. Looks like someone slammed into it or kicked it. Funny part is that side was towards the sidewalk so it had to have been someone walking.
Now I just have a "I dont care attitude" like One Ton was mentiong.
Yesterday I went to go to work and I noticed 3 eggs boling on my cars paint. I just laughed about it because someone went through all that trouble to go get eggs and drive down my block (or walk down for that matter) and hit my car. I live in a rich area where crime really doesnt exist but I learned to accept it.

My trunk has been keyed twice (both minor) and someone has kicked a dent in my left rear quarter panel.... Ive learned to accept some people are just POS's but if I ever catch someone doing anything to my car i will not hesitate to beat the living bejesus out of them :knuppel2: Im not kidding...

It's true that after you get over the first big scratch or dent, the rest are easier to deal with.
I scraped my front bumper on a pole (don't ask) and left a big yellow scuff, and a crack, but it was easier to deal with than when I discovered a little dent.
Of course, a smashed window is a whole other story, not funny at all
my previous car got set on fire when i left it at work one night, needless to say i don't have that car anymore, needless to say i don't work at that place anymore. and i don't leave my current car anywhere that i am not within reasonable proximity for any great length of time.
that still pisses me off to no end. :tickedoff:

Low key, good idea. I don't think having my car starting to look a bit ghetto is gonna hurt, until I can at least get a car cover and an alarm!

I feel the same also. I sometimes regret spending alot of time and money into a car just to see it get ruined by others. Sometimes I wish it was still stock or a beater so I won't have to worry about it so much. It sucks to have a nice car and be scared to park it somewhere. That's how I was with my civic. Daily driven but never went shopping with it. It always slept in the garage.

My crx is parked right under my bedroom window. seriously my window is like 4" above the passangers side of my car and its blocked in by a house on one side, boat on the other, fence in the back and my dads truck in front, i also have a alarm and quick release hub and i still worry.
At work im a bag boy for a local safeway so when im collecting carts i always check on my car in the back 40, its a long walk but ive put almost 3grand in JDM parts in it over the last 5 months (including a machined head with toda cams and head kit) and its my baby so its worth it.

i used to not do all that but that was when it only had mild mods.

my current GS is a 2000 with a fair amount of mods, approaching EXE style I guess you would say, and even my car gets lots of attention around here in Pennsylvania since barely anyone mods VIP platforms in my area. I walked into Pittsburgh Import Fusion two nights ago, and watched people circling my ride (with fresh paint) looking at it...finally I told myself to just let it go and enjoy my evening.
Over this past winter I had some hater bash my Veilside EXE spoiler with a fucking brick or something not once but on TWO seperate occasions. The second time i had to replace it. So some faggot cost me about $750.00 out of my own pocket for no reason at all. >:( Point is you can worry all you want about your ride, but when you put something nice together you have to just enjoy it and take the hater MF-er's in stride. Dont get me wrong, if I ever find out who did that s*** bullets will be flying. :knuppel2:
