View Full Version : Lex Coupe
I sold my bone stock 240 and picked up a 94' Lexus SC300. She runs pretty good, rides amazing and has ICE COLD A/C!!!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0313.jpg
The only blemish is here on the right rear quarter...but I plan on painting the car anyways.
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0278.jpg
Having a bone stock SC is ok, but I couldn't ride like that for very long.
Step one...Wheels. I bought a set of 19' Racing Hart J5 pro's. 19x9 Fronts 19x10.5 Rears. The 22" I was gonna run were sold from under me and these were my back up...Worked out.
But, before I could put the wheels on...I had to massage the quarters a lil bit...haha Here's how I did it.
Tools you'll need to do a fender pull...
1-Floor Jack
2-Ratchet w/ appropriate Socket
3-Phillips head driver
4-Mini Panel Popper
5-And last, but should be #1...a big hammer.
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0353.jpg
First jack up your car, Unbolt and remove wheel...duh
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0352.jpg
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0355.jpg
The SC had plastic fender trim on all four corners...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0356.jpg
Take the Phillips head and remove these, no need for them now...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0357.jpg
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0358.jpg
Still attached to the fender are these little guys that the above trim get screwed to...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0359.jpg
Take the mini panel popper and pop all of these out. If you don't, they will create little dents as you hammer them against the fender...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0360.jpg
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0361.jpg
Now the fun part with the BIG hammer!
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0363.jpg
You're gonna want to start on one side of the quarter lip and hammer the lip from an L to flat, before you actually start "pulling." Hammer at a 45 degree angle and work your way to to the other side, until flat.
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0364.jpg
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0365.jpg
DO NOT hammer in one place too much or you WILL make dents and or ripples...Remember, I said "massage," not smash!
Once you have the lip flattened, start the process over with a little more force. Begin "pulling" the quarter ever so slightly, until desired pull is achieved. Then repeat on other side. The same process applies to the front fenders, but don't go too crazy, the metal is a lot more manageable.
Before...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0362.jpg
After...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0366.jpg
I managed to do this without making any dents or ripples in the quarters...the damage you see in the picture is chipped paint...this too will happen to you. Don't do this if you care about your paint.
Now lets see what my wheels look like on the car!!!
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0351.jpg
HAHAAHAHAHAHAHA...GAY.
Step two...Suspension.
What footwork am I running? I cut the shit out of my springs! hahahahaha
How does she look now?
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/DSCN6777.jpg
Not too shabby!
And before everyone starts bashing me for cutting my springs...Know this is only a temporary hack job.
Here's what is sitting in my room :D !
BAGS BABY! With adjustable struts! The only thing I'm waiting for is for the front struts to come in.
The big bags are for the front...the others for the rear...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/DSCN6784.jpg
5 gallon aluminum tank...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/DSCN6789.jpg
Viair 480c compressor...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/DSCN6783.jpg
AccuAir control system...this unit contains 8 solenoids, distribution block, and wiring in one neat, compact package...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/DSCN6787.jpg
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/DSCN6788.jpg
Viair twin needle pressure gauges...each gauge reads the pressure for two bags, so I can level the car...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/DSCN6790.jpg
The switches, relay, pressure switch and fuse holder...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/DSC00228-1.jpg
And the 9-wire, which makes wiring a breeze and very clean...
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/Cuban_Garcia/SC300/PIC-0332-1.jpg
That's it for now...Tell me what you guys think!
nice job on the roll/pull. wasn't expecting that. i may run that accuair setup too.

Nice roll, but was that really nessesary with the wheels you have now? Do you plan on going wider in the near future?
Thanks everyone...I can't wait to run my bags!
RacingStylez...It was VERY necessary to do the roll. They stuck out crazy far! Plus, I'll be tuckin with the bags. I might go to a 20x 11 later on, but no time soon.
I'm nowhere near finished with the body work. I plan on changing a lot of little things, all around the car. The roll will look like a "pull" when I'm done. Also, I'm adding a vent on the front fenders...should look real clean.

what sizes/offsets are you sitting on?

07-31-2008, 11:14 AM
nice diy! cant wait to see your sc laid out
19x9 et+26 front
19x10.5 et+26 rear
The disks are WAY different...that's why it's so shallow up front and deeper in the rear, even with the same offset and only being an inch and a half different. These wheels accept the biggest brakes you can get...if I could afford them that is :)
Thanks again guys! Trust me, I've been waiting on my front struts for a month now...I can't wait much longer. I'm gonna have to break some knees, if I don't get them soon...haha...Seriously.

great start on your build! wait until you install the bags, that thing is gonna sweet!
I'll be taking tons of pictures throughout the entire build. Hopefully, I can get a hold of a better camera.
I'll try to do everything step by step.
After I get the bags installed, I'll be starting on the interior, while doing things here and there on the body.
Here's the look I'm shooting for...should look really close :D I already have all of the material in my shop!

nice build!! I cant wait to see the finish product. Take pics of the air suspension install.
:)
I would've made the 22" work, but with the 19" I wont have to do so much body work. The roll came out a lot better than I expected...I was crossing my fingers the whole time haha
I will definitely be taking step by step install pics for everything. Maybe I can start with a write up and product review for VSC of the AccuAir unit? Can I get a PM from whoever I need to talk to, to make this happen?

nice write up never seen that done before
Mini Update...
I picked up a new window regulator for my passenger door...old one wouldn't roll back up.
I also picked up a couple of door panels that are in way better shape than my old ones, which I took out of the car because it looks better without them!...hahaah
The regulator is installed (which is a b*tch!!!) But, the door panels are going to get wrapped first. That means "how to wrap your interior" pics are coming!
Apparently, my front struts are on backorder. I wish he would have told me that before, so I wouldn't be waiting anxiously , getting more heated everyday. So, until I get them, I'll be installing everything that can go in before the bags themselves.

So u mean just 'gently' knock em out until it flared out?
Appreciate your assistance on this. I need to pull my fenders so I can sit lower.

Well...kinda. It does take some force, but if you hit too hard it could crease or leave you with a big dent, instead of a smooth roll.
Hammer the lip flat, first. Then start the actual pull. Start on one end of the fender and work you way to the other. DO NOT pull the fender out to the finished product on the first pass. I did a few passes, pulling a little more every pass. That's how I got it to stay as wrinkle free as possible.
I do warn you...THIS METHOD REQUIRES PAINTING THE CAR. YOUR PAINT WILL CHIP! But, if done right...can look great!

Thanks mate! My fender's been rolled previously. Furthermore, the rim's hammering the fender lip real flat for a good while now LOL
I'll let u posted of the results this weekend. Thanks a mill.

I just looked in the bag of goodies and the fuse holder is there, but without a fuse. I'll have to ask my friend, cause I really don't know.

post updates I love this look need you to come do my fenders for the Y33
So, I got a new job that's givin me some crazy hours lately, so no time to work on the G-ride.
Also, I got hit last week. Idiot pulled out of a parking lot, then decided not to go and backed up...right onto my car, I was behind him. I say "onto" literally...his suv SAT on the front of my car.
His insurance covered the damage...(hood, fender, headlight, high beam, bumper, and misc. brackets...all driver's side) In all honesty, it's not bad at all. The check they cut was almost double what I paid for the whole car! haha YES!
So, bags are getting finished, new hood, and lights. As for the bumper and fender...I'm getting a complete widebody kit, my roommate made. Before anyone asks, I will have pics of the kit up sooner than later. It's also not gonna be exactly the same as his...minor changes to clean it up.
Full exhaust, tint, new rotors, pads, a new front caliper, and the motor and tranny are gonna get fixed so she runs like new!
The only thing I've done recently is wire the kit, mounted the tank, relocated the battery to the trunk, and made the false floor.
Also the 9-wire I'm using is nothing more than stinger speedwire...I had no idea until I read the wire :D

Interesting. I think a roll would have been fine instead of a big pull. Especially once you do the air install.

Interesting. I think a roll would have been fine instead of a big pull. Especially once you do the air install.
I had to do the pull...the rim and tire were rubbing against the inner well. If I had anyone in the back seat, the car wouldn't roll.
Small update...
I got a few pieces of my kit. Rear bumper and rear quarters...

Damn son you're killing this SC!
I love the widebody kit, (I hate widebody kits) but this one is subtle....I love subtle.
Wheels are tight...stance is going to be ridiculous...inflate your chest.
I have always wanted one of these cars. Eversince I saw Keith Murray standing on the hood of one in "the most beautifullest thing" back in the early 90's.
I need to start saving my cereal box tops...badass!
What PSI pressure switch are you running with that one Viair compressor? I use that 9 wire as well...it's the cats ass.
That one Viair will be good for a little playing with a 5gal tank, but it'll get hot after a couple cycles and the thermal protector will shut it off.
Oh and the Viair leader hoses have a check valve on them, but some of mine have been leaking lately. I searched for a whole day for an air leak (cause I bought a new leader hose I didn't check there) and it was the hose that was leaking the whole time! Run another check valve on the tank to back up the one on the compressor hose, just in case.
Keep it someplace cool and see how it performs, if need be, just buy another compressor.
Keep the pics flowing!

dang bra... i wish i got a sweet lil trade like that for my 40. possibly geta previa for it! hahaha so get down with the get down on that sc build:biggthumpup:
It's time for an update...
I was trading this car for a 1968 impala, due to the major cost in time and labor, I kept the SC :)
Since I thought I was trading the Lex, I stopped all progress on the project. Now, it's time to pick up where I left off!
I picked up some SC400 front calipers and cross drilled rotors. These will be installed this week.
The engine sounds like the police knocking and the tranny slips like jail soap, so I found a freakin sweet deal on a 1jzgte with a w58 5-speed and the drive shaft piece I need. The swap is currently installed in a friends 240 project that never took off, so he sold it to me!

Now it's time to buy the rest of the stuffs to swap it in! I'm super stoked on this...I haven't had a turbo car since my rhd 240:giggity:
