Cleared out the tails on my Y33

Looks good. I've cleared mine too on my 98. It makes a big difference now that it has no amber reflection in the signals and topped off with clear leds that illuminate amber.

Easier than I thought. Step one was to remove the tail-lights...which is a pain in the butt because they are glued in place (at least mine were). Next step is to remove all the screws holding the housing to the lens. Then use a heat gun or oven to heat up the glue. Once it's nice and hot, start prying the lens away from the housing...use a screw driver if needed. Once everything is apart, you will notice that the amber color comes from a thin strip that can be removed very easily. Once that's removed, you have an option of removing the amber box that covers the bulb...I kept mine in there, but you can remove it...if you take it out, there will be a black hole visible from the outside. The last step is to heat up the glue again, and put everything back together. It's pretty easy process.

I have a 97 and My lights are allready cleared out..I have seen DORIMON's as well and he said he cleareded his to and his is a 98..NOw why did mine come cleared allready. I know that the gentlemen that I bought it from did not do it. My car is the T version I wonder if there is a difference in the models or years..Anyways heres a photo..

They come like that stock. I went ahead and removed the amber lense inside so I can run an amber led bulb that's clear when not lit. In the daytime it looks fully clear but still emits an amber flash.

can you post a picture of the tail lights installed, showing the whole rear of the car? the center section has a similar reflector piece to the one you removed from the tail lights. i wonder if the continuity is disrupted.

Why don't you guys use LED bulbs for the turn signals..then you won't see any amber. When the LED's are off they are clear.

I think he does...if you look closely at the pics he posted, you can see little LED bulbs...but I may be my imagination :idiot2:
