View Full Version : performance part for an xb questions?
I have an 05 xb,what are some parts to put on my engine to make the hamster in my engine move?i already know about the basics bolt on like, intake, pulley system, exhaust, etc. what else can one do to make more horsepower? i* always wanted to boost it but i hear thats bad for the transmission that comes on the xb? the other thing i was thinkin was a engine swap. im not sure but i think i seen the* tein xb with the celica gt engine not sure. can anyone help me. :-\

the most insane motorswap i've seen is when justin hampton fit in the older mr2 turbo motor in the box, but they had to make a custom firewall for it as well.....
the boxes stock motor really doesn't have to much potential thus far, but there is a company on SL making ITB's for it now as well if you wanna stick to the N/A route ;)

I've read that ITBs aren't really useful or recommended unless you're pretty hardcore with the rest of the NA stuff, like top end work (cams, gears, pulleys etc), P&P and tuning.

I know a local company did a turbo xB and made 181hp and it hasn't had any problems. Your best bet is the blitz supercharger.

best upgrade i ever did was the TRD short shifter..
it made driving the thing so much better....
also if you refer to the ScionLife boards.. someone went out
and picked up 5 intakes for the xb's.. he did a dyno for each one
to see which gave the best power...
aem and k&n BOTH got beat by the INJEN SHORTRAM..
i had that on my xb and i gotta say.. it's alright..
i am a firm believer that intakes don't do shit.. but i felt
a little more pep outta the box..
as for extreme performance like turbo and what not..
we run out of gear so fast cuz our gears are so short, i dont
see a benefit for a turbo.... as for a supercharger.. i can see
how you get a good gain in HP/TQ throughout the rpm's..
even at that.. i dunno.. its a freaking scion.. lol... you can
buy a stock civic si and it'll be a lot faster STOCK compared.

Scionlife under the power section for the xB. Search for ZPI.

I had an old ka (SOHC) and the thing only rev'd to 6500k but i still turbo'd it and it was a blast, just make sure that you used a small turbo that can spool and your all good, that being said if you don't want to turbo the car the you should buy a supercharger ;D

dude.. its not the fact that the motor is small..
its that u run out of gear SUPER fast..
even for a stock motor.. at like 65~70mph you're reving past 3500. at 80mph
in 5th you're already at like 4k..
its like the gears are too short.. thats why i didn't think turbo would be a good route.
but then again i could be wrong..

I see what your saying I took it the wrong way, yeah I don't know if turbo is the way to go.
yea i agree cuz when im driving and i do have automatic, but when i hit the last 2 gears they do kind of go quick i see what you mean. i just need allitle more pep in this xb cuz i ilke to go out of town and when i have it full of people you can feel it take time to get up their. i think a super charger would be best. but im gonna invest in the short ram,im not sure if they make the aem v2 for my box, i never was a true believer in the injen products i dont know why they just never caught my eye.

well it wasn't if u believe in injen or not..
if the intake was APC and in an intake comparison it
scored the highest.. then i'd roll with it.. u know?
maybe paint it black or something..
but seriously the guy who did the multiple dyno testing
is someone i directly know. all the dyno's were done to a
T and he was fair to all contenders.. he just wanted to know
the truth.. because everyone wants to know who does the
best intake.. and from his reserach.. they did K&N, aem, injen, spfr,
and some other one.. i think.. injen was the highest.. and
it was the injen SHORTRAM...
but yeah injen intake man.. that thing has a lil pep.. if any..

You should go with the Injen CAI, Greddy SUS Headers, Greddy EVO 2 Exhaust, and the bolt-on Greddy supercharger. That's a pretty good setup if you don't want to mess with internals.
