that kit makes the 4runner look ugly...
I say just bodydrop the 4runner about 3.5+ inches, 4 link it, air, 19s.
this 4 runner has 19s...

That probably has just as much to do with the fact that the car is a 4-Runner, as it does with the lowrider / mini-truck themes going on :idiot2:
It seems like alot of people here want to have a VIP car with out having to get a VIP car.

agreed. the previous 4-runner (not the current iteration) is one of the best looking suv's in my eyes. but it defniitely doesn't give me a feeling even close to, damn that's vip in stock form. thus making it quite a challenge to pull off a vipstyle... not to say it's impossible (fabulous' harrier/rx300 looks very nice), but it would be difficult. shawnthemonster seems to have the only vipstyle pic of a 4runner so far, and it's not that attractive to me. perhaps there are other companies out there that have tried to pull it off.
in the long run, most of the 4-runners that are highly modified likely are going to be in a lowrider/mini truck theme as yakuzasoarer pointed out. thus making it even more difficult to stay/stray away from that theme and really pull off a vipstyle. as onetonvip has pointed out before in other threads, it's not so much about having this part and that part, this kit or that kit, it's about pulling together an entire look, where you see a vehicle and just know that it's vip.

Is this an insurance kit?
I'd definitely choose this over whatever the hell the owner of the red 4runner did... :P
Diplomat, if you're thinkin about starting a VIP project, why not get a VIP platform?

i like the insurance kit......in that pic you cant get the actual feel of the kit, but in person im sure that kit has presence and with the right wheels, fitment and air everyone woud say thats one bad ass 4runneer (its called a "hilux surf" in japon)....
here are some different ones (not as vip tho...)

I would be hard to really go Vip with an SUV (though it has been done) and an interesting challenge. But the main problem I see with the 4Runner is that it is a very rugged looking SUV.
Fabulous has a super looking Harrier (RX300) and Land Cruiser though. I think the Land Cruiser could serve as good inspiration for a 4Runner/Hilux Surf because of the similar styling.
imo, the enormous bumpers don't look very good, I'd just look for a cleaner, sleeker kit to take away some of the ruggedness and make up for the ground clearance with good ol' fashioned low ride height.

I think the 4runner should be left just like this:
Someone already mentioned JAOS.

dude! you hit it on the target what the original post wanted! "or just nicely done ones in general"
slam that shit, 3.5" bodydrop/slambags, cut wheelwells to rock a pair of fitment 20x9 vip rims and drag front member!

I think the body dropped trucks would look better with the wheels closer to the fenders, preferably with a lower offset because high offset and super tuck just looks like the truck has no suspension at all, which I don't think looks that good.

20x9? why not run 20x11? or 20x13? if you are going to go all out, dont cheap out. 20x9 is a pretty week fitment, especially for a truck.

^ I agree with the Land Cruisers. I would love to get one and put a kit on it, but can't afford it.

Not sure if this will help, but I actually got my rims from Discount Tires. The guy found them on a website but I didn't bookmark the dang thing. If I remember I'll let you know. I just told him what kind of rims I was looking for and he found pretty much exactly what I wanted.
If you're interested, here's a pic of my KMC Backseats 20x9.

I'd like to lower it a bit (2-3") and find a clean kit on it - nothing too flashy, like the Land Cruisers I posted.
