From one NissanClub member to another...

Why not run a eRacings front, or a Stillen? They would kinda fit with VIPstyle, which IMO is crazy hard to pull off with an Altima.

Jtanoyo made a front bumper, V8aristo molded a custom front lip from an existing aero piece, and OnTop is just a fiberglass / body genius- so you will have some good resources here.

Theo and I are too busy with other projects right now to take on anything else. None of it is for VIP though. It's all for Z32. You'll see our new 75mm over fenders and carob wiper grills at Showoff on my car.

It's very time consuming fabricating a front lip, I think it's even harder than making a full bumper. With this project it took me about a week and half just for the front lip.

A full custom bumper takes as much work? In my experience, making a full bumper front ground up gets very involving. If you are just cutting a design from another bumper then I would see how it would be so much easier than making a lip.

I agree. The process is WAY more involved. Laying up wise it's not that different, but the process that gets you to that point is the issue. And that part will take you far longer unless you're just copying ish. We design all of our own stuff so building up the clay and carving, scaping, shaping takes the most time...as well as proportions on both sides. It's not an easy task, don't make it sound so nonchalant.

what im saying is that making a one-off lip is more time consuming than combining two bumpers together to make one.

Clarification is key. Haha, on that note I agree with you.
You had stated "full custom bumper", which to me means sketching, designing, sculpting, molding, laying, & then you have a new bumper.

Even so, there are people who have years of experience, and/or there are people who have the mental fortitude and coordination and knack to pick things up quickly and easily...so conversely, you can't discount those people by making it sound like it's not both simple, and easy.

Double edged sword, we all lose.

Both....

I first used a number of different materials to make a prototype, then I made a mold to create a final product.

To make something custom is not cheap, it's more cost effective if you buy something from Japan. Depending on the design, the prototype and mold will cost a minimun of 3500 for a lip kit.

Exactly my point. Just as V8_Aristo stated..it ain't cheap. Most people bow out when they ask me hpw much it would cost and think I'm trying to rip them off when they don't understand the process.

We use clay because it's malleable, easy to add and remove and very flexible....and most of all dirt cheap. The bad thing is the end product is at the mercy of the guy that's actually sculpting the clay. If he sucks, then you get a crappy kit, if he's good, it will rival the best of PU-injected machine...

It's not in your driveway? Haha, It looks right to me and that's all that matters. The very bottom sections might seem to bow out a little, but we made them for the stock body, my rear bumper (Final Konnexion) curves in a little, but I could care less. I daily the car as you see it and at that ride height, I'd roll lower, but I scrape frame on the highest speedbump to my house.

i think whats throwing it off for me is where the front fenders meet the front bumper. the rear over fender also look unfinished towards the back.

im not being a hater or anything, just giving my opinion. i know its your car and not mine. i can appreciate the hard work put into it though. so as long as you like it, its all good. everyone has different tastes, which is great, otherwise we'd all have identical looking cars.

True. The front bumper is just ziptied. If it were bolted it would fit better, but for off-course excursions zipties are your friends.

You need to use a better mold release. The kind I use is sprayed in the mold with a spray gun. There is also a polisher/release..but that we use as well, before we spray the actual mold release.

when i bought my mold release, it was this white sticky stuff that was painted on.. as i tried to pull the plug, it was SUPER difficult.. the mold release did separate the two parts. BUT it acted like sticky glue too..

The one I use seperates with water. The water breaks down the mold release and the parts seperate.

Haha, well, I'll have to take pics of the whole process next time I make a mold. Maybe one of the easier pieces since the more advanced stuff might make you cringe. Some pieces are made with several molds.
