View Full Version : Wheel decision: Y33

I have a few wheels in mind, but want some opinions. I will be running the following offsets:
Front: 19 x 8.5 +10 or 19 x 9 +15
Rear: 19 x 10 +25 or 19 x 10.5 +30

I am thinking of the following wheels:
AME Shallen AX: Silver. Does anyone know if the lip/dish will be deep on these wheels, because most pictures show a pretty shallow dish/lip.
AME Shallen LX: Silver
AME Shallen CX: Silver. I like the wheel alot, but I'm feeling iffy about the cuved spokes and wish they were a little more flat.

Work Euroline DH: Silver. Love the wheel, but it is so common on the Y33.
Work Euroline VD: Silver. Really like What I've seen so far, but wondering the same thing about dish/lip size.

I'm a noobie when it comes to fine-fitting wheels, so give me some opinions and suggestions :)

If you are looking for a more aggressive appearance, you can go lower in offset than what you listed (check out chupa's wheels for sale for an example). And if you're going with a wheel that's avl in widths beyond the "normal" 10"... definitely go with at least a 10.5" in back, and up to a 9.5" in front.

The lip is pretty small on the AX but the wheels are still very nice.* Check out www.ame-wheels.com/ for how much lip you get with those sizes.* *They would be my choice.

Regarding the offsets...19x10 +15 would be a perfect fit, especially if you have your camber adjusted to ~+3 degrees. As far as the rears go...19x10 would be my choice, but I would suggest going slightly lower on the offset...something like a +20 would work a lot better. As for the wheels themselves...I'll leave that decision up to you.

As for getting wheels from one of the members...highly recommend it. That's how I got mine...no need to wait for 2+ months to get them, pay lower price, and help out your fellow members at the same time. Something to consider.

Hmm im k,inda on pimplux's idea i would love to see some fabolous wheels done with such offsets hell any Y33 for that matter.

Also check out the jp yahoo auctions for sick deals on wheels you can get a nice set used for not paying a+l for it...

Ok. I've decided on the Shallen AX. That is what I've wanted for a while, so I'm going to go with my gut. Couple of issues:

Rear: 19 x 10" +20 (10" is max width for the AX :-[ )

Which of these two for the front will have a deeper dish?
Front: 19 x 8.5" + 5
or
Front: 19 x 9" +10

The 8.5" width +5 will have a slightly deeper dish, right

I also need to know the difference between the superlow, low and high disk.

Thanks for all the help guys :)

you can run low disc on your Q45.
No reason to get a +20mm offset. Go somewhere between 15-5mm for a good fitment and serious lip.
fronts i'd run the 9" w/ 10mm or 5mm if you can.

So, is the super low disk or the high disk going to have the biggest dish, i'm assuming the super low?

Ok i have no idea what how that diagram works.. so i just want to ask... Right now im running 20 x 8.5 wheels with a +45 offset... this fits with no rub )perfect fit), but now i want more. I decided to roll the rear fenders and realized when i do this, i will have an ADDITIONAL 1-1.5" more space between the outer rims and the inner wall of the fender.... so now.. to get AS MUCH LIP as possilble if i were to get another set of wheels should i go lower offset or wider rims with same offset? Or any other options to get the most lip..

Also im planning to get stretch tires..

CHUPACABRIO

do both. im running a 10" rear with O-disc backpad and 0mm offset. no rubbing at all.

Yummyriceball

I couldnt do that cuz if i do both, i'd rub for sure....

I would like the biggest Lip i can possibly get...

you dont seem to understand. Im running a 19x10 w/ 0mm offset and O-Disc on a 1999 Q45 and I dont rub. You've been given plenty of suggestions I dont see why you are having such a hardtime figuring this out.

If you can go a low as me (size/offset) without rubbing what's so hard to figure out.

that rear offset sucks. You could shave 20mm's off it and be happy as a clam. In-fact your front offset sucks too, your going to want a spacer. I have a 19x9.5 +15mm O-disc and its sunken in too far.

but, you'll see when you get them and re-read all the posts and say fuck! :o

Thanks for your suggestions (seriously, not being a smartass), but I am completely happy with the offsets I chose. I agree that your offsets are perfect for the look you pulled off, but I did not want that extreme of a look and have the wheels sticking out at all from the fender. Thanks again, though.

Those offsets arent bad in my opinion..More EXE than WILD but then EXE is my taiste as well. Now
just to give you an Idea why I say its not bad. I am coming from a 8.5 +38,9.5 +40..you get my drift so
this would be hella dish for me. ;D ;D ;D...

bBOXD
09-30-2006, 10:49 PM
Oh come on guys, don't use the term EXE to hide the fact that you got "ill fitting" wheels... EXEstyle, or what have you, does not mean you have "ill fitting" wheels. No offense or anything, but seriously. :-\

zion_97
09-30-2006, 10:59 PM
Not trying to hide nothing. What I am saying that is not a bad offset compared to mine. I am well aware that the
wheels I have On my car are not anything close to VIP wheels. Once I I get a chance and see the right wheels I myself will get
something along the lines of 19X9 +10 and 19x10 +15. And EXE has allways been my taiste, Whether it
is High offset of low offset. By the way, I was trying to boost his choice a little after beeing blasted by abother member..
and I still think that the wheels wheel look great..Havnt you seen DarkAngels Q his wheels are as follows 19X9 +25 19X10 +22...
His shit is sick and they came off of PIMPLEX or what something like that..anyways Those wheels look sick as F$*( on bothe Q's and
did not look weak at all...I THink DarkANgel is pulling of the EXE stlye very well..I cant believe that some of you folks think that this Guys
Offsets are weak..jus cant figure that out..hhmmmmm :-\

cullenj76
10-01-2006, 05:44 PM
I don't really care if my car is labeled EXE or VIP or even POS.* I have no excuses because there is nothing to excuse.* I did much research before I ordered the wheels.* I'm just not into that aggresive of an offset.* This car is my daily driver, I am not going to run a shitload of neg camber and to be blunt I think it looks ridiculously stupid to have wheels that stick out that far.* I got as much as I could to meet my application/requirements/expectations.*
