Pulling Fenders

I know what "shaving" means and how it's done, but what exacty is done when the term "pulling" is used?

are you actually physically pulling the quarter fenders outward kinda similar to "rolling up" the inner fender ?

and what about the paint ? the paint will surely start to crack when you pull right ?

can somebody elaborate ?

Heat gun...fender roller. That's for mild pulls and you can save the paint. For more major pulls dolly, hammer, & patience. For that you will kill the paint
