Now before you guys go nuts and ban me from here, the Japanese apparently love these vans.
I was shocked at first too, but after a lot of picture searching I managed to find that these vans can actually look pretty good (IMHO) with a little Japanese TLC, as seen below:

Does anybody happen to know of any Astro/Safari fansites from Japan??

There's actually a couple of Astrovan bible mooks out there that will have a listing of all the mods they have avl for the astro in japan. If you can find them that'd be your first step towards getting those elusive parts and kits... step two would be to see if those companies making them are still alive, and step three would be to try and import them!

Can't [easily] stuff a small block in a Previa and can't really tow as much with a Previa either.
Plus the Previas around here (Nebraska) are hard to come by, and the ones you do find are usually ragged out.
I think that an Astro would make for a great project..
who says you need a Japanese car to do a kick ass minivan, vip styled?

That F-Tech van is so sick! But I hate the ugly Euro lights. Still, goes to show that there's more to american vehicles than DUB.

well, i never woulda dreamt of a day where an Astro or Safari would fall in the VIP category, personally not my style, a bit too big in every direction, not to mention VERY high offsets, and I am a VIP stereotyper that has to have enough dish to eat cereal out of for a year, but i might just be a bit :idiot2:

...not to mention VERY high offsets...
I'll have to disagree on that one. I'm running 17x8 +6 on my Safari and it's still pretty sunken in the rear. Astro/Safaris can run negative offsets with no problem.
