I'm considering the Falken ST1 tires for my next set.

Do falken's really have a thicker, stronger sidewall ? they seem to support the VIP look but do NOT reccomend the stretching nor do they support it.

so what's the deal ? they have VIP cars on their website with stretched out tires yet they will not support it. Can someone with the insider scoop elaborate on this ?

I think they just say that cause saying... "good for stretching!" wont be a good thing. It might make them look bad? Encouraging people to do things other than the norm.

But they know whatsup.

ST115 and FK451 are discontinued :( They are probably just covering their legal asses by saying by not recommending stretching.

Use FK452. They are highly recommended. And great for stretch with re-enforced sidewalls.

got these babies on my car, and absolutely love them. My friend has been using ST115s and now 452s for drifting, they have a mild stretch and the sidewall never came apart or anything.

I definatly agree that falken stretch the best, hands down.

I had st115's on my s14 forever, I recently found out they stopped making them so i went with some shit ass federal tire becuase they were cheap. Well, long story short they didn't stretch worth a shit, and rub like crazy esp up front. I had to camber the front about 2.5 degrees more to get them to fit w/o rubbing, now the fitment looks like ass, all around i'm pretty pissed.

The dunlop dz101's which I am running, have a nice stretch too with curb protection. Check those out.

Hahahaha, do realize what you just said? Stretched with curb protection...then they must not be stretched. If they were you certainly wouldn't have curb protection.

falken's stretch very nicely.. from their ziex 512's..
to their azenis st115's.. to fk451's.. i've owned all 3 models..
they ride quiet.. but they don't last that long as tires..
i recently was running the st115's which are rated at 380 for treadlife..
its not really that great.. but they drive good and ride quiet as hell...

i agree that falkens tend to stretch more than another tire manufacturer of the same size, but i would have to disagree on the federal statement...contrary to popular belief, federal SS595s are actually pretty good tires...ppl have been using them for stretch, drift, road racing, anything...how ever, they do not last long, but what do you expect for less than $90 for an 18 inch tire...im curious as to what size you have because i have 225/40/18 SS595s on 18x9.5s all around and they seem to stretch just fine...

Used for drift only because they are cheap...they aren't really that good of a tire, they are just a CHEAP tire. They stretch well because the sidewalls suck.

So what is the verdict on the FK452? One member here was complaining about how the FK452 don't stretch as much as the ST115 in the same size.

Well, I don't think there is a virdict to decide. The ST115 is out of production, the FK452 is in production and we've hadgood fiments with them. On Dan's LS they helped a lot in the front with the way they stretched.

I'm running a 215 on 8.5" and 225 on 9.5"...The stretch is mean...I love these tires...they are a little pricey but definitely worth every penny...best tire I've ever owned hands down...and I'm not just saying that because I repped Falken and our local car show...

Hands down, go with the FK452's. They stretch nicely and ride much quieter than ST115's.
