tell me why you choose your style choice...
i like both, but am always more partial to wild styles. cant really explain why
but here is a good reason:

LoL, this reminds me of a poll i started at the top of this subforum, but i didnt want explanations. My choice is obviously wild, but i can really appreciate a nice EXE car. Its the caricature-like proportions and over-the-top designs that make wilder cars stand out and I like that.
I lived my dream and i owned possibly one of the wilder cars outside of Japan, and now i am ready to try a more subtle approach. But I still give maximum respect for those that irreversably modify a luxury car in the name of standing out
P .S. That diamante has gone a complete makeover now. Camber is gone, painted red with black wheels and he has gone for a racy image. The old style was MUCH better

Fell inlove with the vip/wild style and that what drew me to it. But didnt know the extent of work and labor that
is needed to make it happen.

funny I had a similar post about your age and style ...trying to figure who likes what to see if age had anything to do with it, but no it did not.
Anyways I like EXE/LUX because I like the mild side of things. maybe 5-10 years ago I would say the wild classic style only cause back then I
use to fix up my cars for people and now I fix them up for myself..I think that the wild style is like hey look at me look at all the s*** I have on
my car...and exe is opposite..and I am the guy who sports a sterling silver datejust Rolley who paid cash and not a 100 karat* iced out bling bling all gold
look at me guy who just financed* it....Now this is just my take and not set in stone..Here in the Southern Az... its all about show off and not classy..so I
The funny thing the Mafiosos down here have been VIP or avery long time...low and wide.

EXE is nice, but too stock appearing for my tastes..this is all opinionated..so to me a poll such as this is pointless. Each person will have different tastes. I prefer things that are more personalized. Cars should be built as an extension of their owner. A car that is very repetative or unispiring most likely comes from someone of the same stature and personality...likewise one that is more creative and wild, well, you get the idea.

I like both styles, but it depends on the age of the car. Pre-98 IMO needs to be wilder styed than the new cars.

i voted for EXE/LUX style. ;) keepin it real w/clean, fluid and sexy line that elegantly flows w/the natural shape of the car... just imho tho... to each is own (thanks cody!)

I chose wildstyle because I just love how it looks. To me; the flares, widebody, camber, whaletail, and long exhaust pipes just gives a person more creativity with the car. It also gives the car some character.

it doesnt look too bad.

I dont know man.... sometimes the oddest owners step out of the most craziest vehicles. In my experience i've learned to never assume.... .i've seen some crazy rediculously wild rides only to meet the owner moments later that is actually some psychiatrist or dentist. Thats why I love this whole thing so much.... FREE WILL!!!!
funny story is I met this pimped out Ferrari 360 the other day.... talked to the owner for a while and found out he was a postage carrier.... like literally! so yeah you never know what to expect.

wrd. i like keeping the original body lines and keeping it very classy, but at the same time it has its own flare. for me, i love the car on the ground, with slightly "too low" offsets and a subtle kit. imo, minor attention to details make the car. wild, though i can appreciate it, is too much for me and my circumstances. i needed something daily and obviously the wild look couldnt take me where i needed to go.
for me: slammed, mild kit, extreme wheels, and nice details. EXE ftw.

good reactions guys.... one thing im fuzzy on though, the style im doing is kinda a combo of the two. would it be exe or wild/classic?
Dominik

I'm pretty sure people are mistaking VIP for EXE... Exe is mild drops on mild wheels with new cars. The look is like a factory sports-optioned car.. You can see this in AF/Exe mag and others. Exe cars are not about pulling fenders or pushing fitment boundaries...
Your van will be vip... no doubt about it!

well the exe/lux/simple style can get semi wild tho..

The pics from some back issues seems to confirm what i thought... EXE is basically ClubLexus-spec cars
I also cant find much reference to the word EXE in Japanese websites (other than those Mythos EXE Markers). My guess is that EXE was a name created to describe those that like flashy wheels but dont want to associate with the American based DUB style
Then it was propagated in this forum to mean anything that isnt flared/widebodied (bit like Bosozoku became the term for wild Vip cars round here - i may have been somewhat to blame with that one!)
I will ask the question on a Japanese vip forum as well, but i think we have all been duped!
Edit: Here's a definition of Vip in japanese - http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIP%E3%82%AB%E3%83%BC (can use translators if you want)
as we thought, there are rules as to the cars that can be used, and interestingly, the use of vip as a word as opposed to V I P was intentional, to differentiate with the original meaning of the word...
Will keep searching for EXE definitions

Some of my Japanese friends knew what it was, but some didn't. The ones who did told me EXE is a less agressive style using aeroparts that were more close to stock, yet cleaner with a European luxury feel. In most cases they said people run higher offset wheels, with a few exceptions were guys will run low offset wheels but still run the unagressive aero. Basically it's to make the car still appear generally stock but nicer, sort of like how they wished the car would have come stock...almost like trying to have very high class cars like Bently and Rolls, but with Japanese chassis. I knew what EXE was before coming to these boards, so I doubt it came from here, but at least here we're educating people in the US on the different styles. Their take on it goes further than what I had thought. To me it was just the opposite of wild VIP style, but I guess there's more to it than I had thought.

i like.. VIXE ?
slammed balls on the ground w/ perfect fitting wheels and a subtle kit. not peekaboo fitting wheels, but not massive poke either.

funny thing was before I found these boards I actually had it ass backwards. I thought VIP was the tamer versions w/ EXE still being VIP yet the more aggressive whale tails etc etc....
The use of VIP is also something I've also inquired about. I understand many use the term as a word like VIP instead of pronouncing each letter like how the united states uses V.I.P.
Now realistically..... I cannot trace the term vip as a word anywhere. My only logical explanation is it was taking the term V.I.P to incorporate into vehicle styling which evolved into the whole saying being pronounced "veip" ....now if its pronounced VIEP and has no play w/ V.I.P then why is it always capitalized? and how do they pronounce EXE? what does the acronym EXE even mean? or is it even an acronym?
Dominik
08-31-2006, 07:36 PM
Thats what i found in the japanese wikipedia entry - it was used to differentiate between the literal meaning of V. I. P.... but they noted it can be written several different ways using Katakana, or even BIP in english characters; as long as the full stops arent there...
Dunno about EXE as i am yet to find any reference to it online. I do know it is short for Executive though. They would probably pronounce it either ekushii or ii ekusu ee although i doubt it (since they love to shorten words so much)
III, that would be VIP. Exe is not about slamming cars to the ground. Think Mode Parfum - thats VIP style

Wait, so you think Mode Parfume is VIP style? or do you just mean that it's EXE and sort of a VIP style but not VIP....omg I've gone cross-eyed!
Dominik

Yes, mode parfume IS vipstyle. Its not wild and wide like i prefer, but its the current trend. But that not to say a flared and wild Crown isnt vipstyle
Just like an AE86 on oldschool 15"s compared with a Late model chaser on 19" chrome Works, kit and sponsor writing all over it. Both are driftstyle
Exe appears to be just the real mild stuff... Stuff my dad would think is nice.
I really dig both but for my personal vehicle I plan on going more with the EXE/LUX but its got to be as low as possible with some camber not as wild as the Diamante pictured but some.Like others stated I still want it to exude class, luxury, and it definitely has to be clean but I also want people to know its altered not just a stock car with wheels.

i agree totally, i looked at all my options and decided on mode parfume. other kits may have been cheaper and easier to get my hands on (yahoo japan auction, rbmotoring.com, memoryfab.com) but i wanted uniqueness, distinctiveness and a classy, more elegant style that flowed w/the stock lines. that to me is my idea/interpretation of VIP. same goes with my Abt kit on my audi, really mild, nothing that's flared out (i.e., rieger)...
but to each is own and all opinions and criticisms (however wrong or right the person might be) should be respected & weighed objectively, not subjectively. internet forums should be fun and users should be allowed to speak freely and openly without having to get flamed for it 8) (thats how i usually mod/admin my forum)... anyways, i am jizzing on this...

although clean, subtle lines are what seem to be the VIP trademark these days, I like the crazies in this world. For the mear fact, if i put a lot of mullah into my ride, i want it to scream MY name. one of my favorite examples of wild being integrated into a newer, sleeker and smoother car is...

One sure way to tell that is an older LS is by the door handles.
But Weds does have a newer LS as one of thier display vehicles.

is it jus me or is that front bumper not fitting well..look at the corner of the front passenger headlight where it meets the bumper..looks crooked
to me..for a Kranze demo car you think they ...would have fit the bumper better..looks MICKEY MOUSED..and then the gap of between the fender and the
bumper looks a little bigger than it should...hhmmmmmm
it really falls down to the builders liking with the option of A. going with a suttle classy look without any extreme effort to make the car achieve presence for an earlier model VIP platform car or B, totally redesigning a vehicle(adding flares, Widening the body, paintjobs that costs a fortune and with really agressive wheels) to its full potential form through the liking of the owner, tuner. By adding accents on the car i.e. In car Entertainment system that will cater both an extreme set-up with all the modern technology on a simplified presentation (traditional audio setup) or going with a wild set up that consisted of FG-ing and retrofitting your I.C.E. in a modernized pattern. (set-up mostly seen on featured cars)
