does anyone know if its a direct replacement of the stock caliper? or do i need new brackets or something?

It's not a direct fit for the stock caliper brackets, if that is what you were asking.

on the contrary, they actually are a direct replacement...

that is on a G50, which is basically similar to 240s, in that you use lines that you'd use in a 240 to mount the calipers on the Q

I saw the new/current owner (you?) selling it for like 5500 firm on craigslist last week or so... I thought that was a little TOO high

Nope wasnt me, but yes i do think its too high... and from what i know hes parting out the car and putting it back to stock. apparently he needs my stock suspension when i buy the coilovers from him. corey built that car up sooo sick too, man, thats the reason why i started to build up one. hahaha. awsome pics man

So they'll fit a Y33 also?

thats right it is a direct replacement
Q45 brakes are a cheaper replacement for 240s
the z brakes are a lil bigger and come in 2 configs, 26mm alum., 30mm alum and 30mm iron
id assume the conversion lines would be the same as the 240, theres a kit u can buy from places like pdm
all thats required are 2 different fittings one for chassis one for the calipers cause they use a different kind of fitting then rthe ss lines to go between them.
been a LONG time since i did the mod, so u should look online for the proper fittings.

heres a z brake "things u should know" thread i did on another forum:

I did this write up for NWN when i got unbanned then got banned cause im better than they are:

Heres my baby:

OK INTRO!
This thread is being made by me cause everyone asks this question
and yet no one has a definitive answer
well what ill display here you will have your answers

FIRST!
Do NOT ask me if your wheels will clear
the info i provide here will allow you to judge that for yourself
if you do ask expect an angry responce from me
as you have not read what i typed
and i take that as in insult and disrespectful

SECOND!
it has NOTHING to do with offset
it has to do with the SPOKE design
think about it
a flat faced wheel wont clear brakes that stick out

stock brakes are narrow
z brakes are fat
this allows less clearance
spokes need to BEND to allow the calipers to clear
because of the extra bulkyness

hence my point with my 15x7 +35
those are gay offset and size
the spokes allowed me to clear them (26mm Z Brakes)

same thing with the stock 7 spoke wheels
(theres 2 kinds, one allows clearance the other not)

anyways same point, spoke design allows the clearance not the offset

mesh wheels and old school rims dont work with z brakes
because of the face design, they are flat
this is why u need a spacer
reason u use the spacers is because the wheel is flat
and that spacer pushes the face OUTWARD

EXAMPLE:
OK heres a situation: keep in mind its the same WHEEL but different offset
Its a old school Mesh wheel:

so we have a 15x8 +30 wheel and added a 30mm spacer it moved that flat surface away 30mm
to make an EFFECTIVE offset of 0

where as

that 15x8 0 offset wheel NO SPACER doesnt clear because that FACE is on the hub which doenst allow clearance

i think where ppl are getting confused is that the face is still flat
but when u add that spacer it MOVES the flat face outward
see what im saying?

is it starting to make sence?

Heres a pic:

Notice how the hat of the rotor is AHEAD of the caliper?
now notice how the hat of the caliper is BEHIND the caliper on the Z brakes..

this is the reason why flat faced wheels do not fit on z brakes
its cause the caliper sticks too far out...

Therefore you do this for z brakes
u add a SPACER!!!
u need to get a spacer that allow the hat to be ahead of the z brakes

this is the image of a concave type wheel
where the spokes go away from the brakes

Thank you
and your welcome!

enjoy

also did this as well a "what u need":

and while im at it

Z32 Brake Upgrade:
what u need for FRONTS

calipers
rotors
pads
clips
conversion lines

its recommended to upgrade your brake master cylinder as well
they come in 3 sizes
15/16
16/16
17/16

17/16 being the largest

visit PDMs site for a listing

another site for this upgrade and a how to
visit:

http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm

for the most part he is right
minus the fact that not only nabco makes the 17/16 brake master cylinder
i have a tokico made one
the part numbers match up.

anything else u guys want to know regarding z brakes?
