Hello I have a set of 20' OZ opera II wheels and would like to replace the lips with bigger ones.* The specs on the wheels are 20x8.5 35et but they are in 5x112 mercedes.* I have 40mm adaptors for them to make them fit for my Q45.* I have had these for 3 months now and still have not been able to get info on lips.* Any links to websites or help would be appreciated.

Your best bet is to prob hit up some wheel refinishers and see if they can get a hold of new barrels... since OZ is still alive and strong, it shouldn't be too hard, but I would expect the price of said replacement lips to be quite $$. Another thing to consider: the wheel offset will change dramatically once you swap the outer rim halves, thus necessitating a rethink on how thick those adapters should be...

Why dont you just buy wheels with the size dish you want and the correct bolt pattern?..what are you trying to do, chop a wheel with a bigger dish and weld it on those...seems
like a lot of trouble and maybe unsafe..hhmmmm

Thanks, thats the route I was planning on going to. I just never got a chance because there are none near me.

No welding would be involved since they are 2 piece wheels. I have seen on this site pics of first gen Q's with these wheels with deep lips in the rear. I love the look of these wheels, They look great on the car. I could not find them in my pattern after waiting a couple of months. Trust me the price of the wheels, adaptors, bigger lips will still be less then half of what I would of paid for them new.

Actually.... are you sure they're 2pc wheels? Is there a silicone seam along the perimeter of the barrel? If so, then they are 3pc, and infinitely easier to get replacement rim halves for (though still very difficult considering the 20" diameter). BUT, if they are indeed a 2pc, then you're semi SOL, as you will have to buy a whole 1pc barrel in the correct offset (taking into account your adapters also)... which also ultimately will cost a LOT more $$$ than you might anticipate. It's actually not too difficult to find operas used in japan in more adequate fitments (width, offset, and bolt pattern) for pretty dang good prices actually! Definitely consider everything before jumping head-long into trying to mod those particular wheels for your use, as it might end up being easier, cheaper, and less headache-inducing to sell them to a benzo owner, and get a set of proper operas from japan

I just double checked, they are 2 piece. I guess I am just going to get the lips refinished since 2 have light curb rash and one has chrome chipping on it. If they can help me get bigger replacements then fine, but if not, I will just space them perfectly with the fenders and go EXE style for now.
