It dawned on me several minutes ago that ever since VIP styling has begun to take roots in the US alot of people have forgotten the basic rules of VIP. These rules being; stance, and bodytype with the rest left for open interpretation that will always be debated such as; brand, prestige, etc. My question to you is this. What is the ideal budget for a decent or starter VIP styled car? At what point has the owner and his budget given him enough credibility to be called VIP, or gotten him to the point where the car now has enough VIP style in it? Remember that alot of the cars that are the most popular ones to modify like the Celsior and Cima have been around for more than 15 years already. These models have become attractive buys on the used market.
Which brings several minutes past my thought. A friend of mine has an 05 Corolla. A real POS car. I don't care much for it at all, it's fwd, it's slow, it's heavy and it generally makes me sad it's not built like the older models from the early 90's. He want's to get into the VIP scene. How do I start him off? A new car is a given, he has already seen the light and tired of his Corolla. The problem is the poor sumbitch see's my cars everyday but he doesn't live on my budget. So he wants to build a car for under 10k against my advice.
Just then I hatched a plan. I can sell him my old LS sans mods and move on to something else. :D He refuses to buy the car without the wheels and air suspension claiming it would cost too much money to get it looking good again. To be fair it would cost about 6k in wheels and suspension for it to be as it is now.
So with his weak 10k budget minus my generous 4k pricing on the LS with factory air and all records, I need to show him what he can do with this money. Or am I getting greedy here just trying to sell my car? Including the cost of the car and exterior mods can Vip really be done with only 10k? I say no. Prove me wrong so I don't feel guilty.
Things to remember; he cannot afford to the paint the whole car. As opposed to some strangers used car mine has flawless two tone green over grey. Perfect to paint just a kit and bolt it on.
He lives in an apt and a widebody car is not going to fit in the parking spaces.
He seems to have it in his head FWD is perfectly acceptable for a car. :knuppel2:
