I came across some CHEAP elemental design speakers (exact same ones as the other thread i made, multiple speakers) but they are 7"* I want to replace my 6.5 for those 7"* Is this possible without cutting into the medal of the door?
here is the link to the sale:

here is a link of the same 7" speakers in a properly built enclosure. See how these can hit with the right power and box? ;)

if your door fits a 6.5, u can fit a 7 with a 3/4" mdf spacer. clearance between the door panel and the speaker may be a problem so 1/2" could work. the eu-700's are ok but not that great. check out reaudio.com for some re XXX 6.5's. these are outstanding speakers. theyre marketed the same way as the elementals, subs for people who cant fit subs. if youre looking for a really good mid that can produce the entire midrange and give great midbass punch in a 7" woofer, id look at anything seas lotus, dayton RS (partsexpress.com for the super cheap), or peerless exclusives (madisound.com).

i forgot to mention that the door of my cherokee fits 5.5" speakers and i was able to drop in a 6.5 with no problem with a 3/4" mdf spacer. i was able to fit a 7" in there with another 1/2" spacer. the 7's were the re XXX 6.5 (dont know why theyre called 6.5's when they are MUCH closer to 7's). i ended up putting back the lotus 6.5's and threw the XXX 7's in a 1 cubic foot box for sub duties till i built my box for my 2 idmax 10's.
