Now what in gods name lets there 15 year old to a nice clean ls400 to rev it to 8k. I wouldn't never ever,

ever ever let my son or daughter rev a car neverless my car cold start it then rev to god knows when.

Thats just wrong. But you see older people do it too! And the 'one-last-rev' before switching off the engine

At least he didnt say "hey, wanna see me drift my dad's lexus?"

I don't get why people rev their engines at all, unless the car is stalling or it's their first time driving a car with a stick shift.

edit: or showing off :(

As for older folks revving the car just before they shut it off is more than likely a habit that comes from the old carburetor days. They used to do this when fuel metering was not at it's most accurate, and that final rev would clean out any unused or puddling fuel in the carbs. It's quite unneccesary with modern fuel injection.
