HI I'm new here, need a little help
When I got my 18" wheels, I had them install 35series tires, I got a bit paranoid so I tried using 40 series tires, and it sure is more comfortable, makes me less paranoid about my lip while driving, but I have rubbing issues on the top of the front fender...
40 Series
Pros
more comfortable driving
more protection for my lip from dents
Cons
Doesnt look as good
Fender rub on top of front fender during dips
Tire rubbing on full turns
35 Series
Pros
Looks hella better
no rubbing whatsoever on the front fenders
no rubbing on full turns
Cons
Lip more prone to damage
Paranoid driving (coz of avoiding bumps and bad roads)
I'm in a dillema! should I just switch back to 35 series tires? I only have one more chance to return the tires and switch permanently
whats your take on it?

well, run 40 series and raise
run 35, and look gangster
btw, whats the width? with cars you lose a little, you gain a little.

My rims are only 18x7.5 thats why with the 40s the tires look fat, the 35 looks really nice, slick.. but the ride... ummm with the 40s, ride quality is significantly increased... by.. a lot... except I have rubbing on the front fender wall, and on full turns.
The beauty of my rims don't come out with the 40s too...
here's my rim on the 35s

I'm really just worried my lip would take some damage on 35s if I'm not very careful, since the lip is chrome, just a little dent on it would look really bad.
its more of like
beauty vs comfort...
I'd just like to get opinions of as much people as I can to make an informed decision.
Thanks guys!

For a small car like yours, the correct size is 35s... Thats to keep the overall diameter the same as stock
On larger (vip cars), 18" diameter 35s usually dont have the load rating to take the weight of the car.
I had 40s on my 18s, but the tyres were stretched and its on a 1700kg car so 35s are a bit risky. (plus i had done what was needed to stop rubbing when driving)

hmm.. yeah, dom knows this kind of stuff.
btw, what width tread are you running? ok just saw in the chat room, why dont you try 205/40
from the looks of it, there really isnt all that much stretch.......

Thanks Dominik,
so you think 35series is still safe even with the really tiny sidewall? It can take it?, I'm really worried about the lip, since its more prone to dents I believe...
all I need is peace of mind that 35s can handle it, even in slightly bad road conditions...
thanks again for your input Dominik.

hi charlie, im running 215. Ive been searching long and hard for 205/40s here but are no where to be found, seems like local dealers dont stock that configuration here. I know 205/40 would give me the peace of mind plus the look, and the slight stretch over 7.5 rims...
right now, my only choice is to go 35/215/18 or 40/215/18... I could prob run 35/215 until I actually find the right tires, then I'll switch.. .but right now I cant find them.
here's another photo of my wheel wrapped with 35/215/18

35 series tires *are* designed for your size of car, so they should be fine over bumps and stuff. Of course you need to take care where you are driving, but its the size that any wheelshop would put on your car.
If you were running an ACTUAL stretch, you would need to start worrying, but since its just a normal set of wheels, stick with the recommended width/profile (35)
FYI, i had 215/35 on my 18x9 front rims for a bit. Now *that* was a stretch, and probably quite risky given the weight of my car. I changed it up to 225/40 and had no more issues.

thanks Dominik! I think thats what I needed to hear for peace of mind... of course I would have to change my driving habits as well... I used to roll on 17x7.5 45, 18x7.5 on 35 is a big change.

yeah, well, why dont you just have them shipped over seas. it seems like youre so worried, 205,40 would give a little bit of stretch, and probably have the same height ratio as a 215/35.
i dont know if those wheels are fancy wheels, but to me they look like very average wheels. you know the phrase, " you gotta pay to play". either you take the cons and have nicer fitment and fresher looking ride, or you have very average fitment and boring 4x4 ride. whatever you decide goodluck

I ran 215/40/18 on my odyssey it will fill your wheel gap. or keep those tires and lower it more.

with 18x 7.5's you're lucky to get that much stretch. with tall narrow wheels. go on wheel w.h.o.r.e.s . com to get some pics of what it'll look like .... lower is the only real solution to get it sitting better. cut 1.5 coils off the rear lol.... I'm only 'half' joking :)

40 in the front, 35's in the rear to offset the lower arches in the rear
