Haha, I thought those tires were just flipped - is the outter tire wear from rubbing or was it from inner tire wear/neg camber?

The rear shot looks sick and so does the car overall.
Being super low is the #1 most important thing about vip. Although you are low with coilovers (and were lower at one point) tucking would allow you to sit it lower. Even if its only by a couple mm's.
A few options you can do is
Pull the fender out more. Pull it until the wheel appears to be flush to the fender but can go under the fender when the wheel compress.
Radius the quarter panel. Means to cut the arch higher. You would also need to tub your inner fender in the process. This would allow you to pursue the flush fitment while sitting lower
Or just get a body kit that hangs lower.
Either way the car looks sick. Just offering advice

I know you said you had some plans but I think some nice deep 17s would look so good on there. Best part is that 17s are cheap and so are tires. If you do go that route, run a lower profile tire in the rear so it doesn't tuck. It would look so ill

crazy, just curious why you went with a low offset 10 rather than a bigger width and higher offset.
i drive a fwd and with this sizing, to avoid going TOO wide with bodywork, camber will be needed. this will create backspacing issues
alexisthemovie
03-27-2010, 06:48 PM
have you measured backspacing? Seems like even with -8 camber you could have gone with a 19x12 -7 and a 255 out back which looks a lot more badass IMO.
siknezz408
03-27-2010, 06:54 PM
new wheels lookin kleen!
pardon my bluntness, but what would give you the impression or make it "seem" like a 19x12 would work? i HAVE measured back spacing, and YES when i was on the eurolines which were 19x10, i would hit my suspension with the amount of camber i had. i did want 9.5/10.5 but there was a misunderstanding during the ordering process. as much as i would like to go 12" wide, or even 11" wide, with the amount of camber im anticipating, 10 was the smart choice.
alexisthemovie
03-27-2010, 08:23 PM
well I've personally seen and helped fit 18x10 +6 on a TL which at the time had something ridiculous like -10 or -11 camber and still had space in the back. Not taking anything away from your choice though, 19x10 -32 offset is pretty sick.

no offense taken bro; i may be wrong, but i do believe a larger diameter contributes to less back spacing as well. it makes sense in my head, but i have minimal geometry knowledge :pat: either way, the 19x10et0 would hit on inclines and id just rather not take that risk.

crazy, just curious why you went with a low offset 10 rather than a bigger width and higher offset.
i ask him that before haha...i think the bodymen will thank him if he went with 235 on a 10.5, less work than a 235 on a 10, but he said he want 10.5 so can't blame him, blame it on the shop who ordered it wrong. to me when everything clears just by 3mm is when it is the winner....anyways look forward to -8 degress of camber. i ride on 5.5 and it wear down fast on non daily
HOLY SHIT! did you talk to the shop yet? were about to start my car next week !
nah they never got back to me....get at me on aim when you can, we need to talk.

i daily on -8 camber too haha, the wear is not that bad (a little uneven) as long as you're properly aligned.

damn that is sick! A nice changed from all the A-Spec TL's
heres some pics to get a feel for the clearance under my car...i only had my cell phone so i tried to edit in on there as best i could so you could actually see anything, its real over cast here atm. of course with the darkness and angles, its not completely accurate, but its enough to get an idea. lowest part is about a half inch off the ground. imma be visiting the muffler shop soon to see if i can either get it tucked more, and if not, then a custom straight pipe for more clearance so i can go even lower.

is it possible to merge fiberglass with a poly?
anyways your TL is gonna look nutttssss
widebody_Q
04-13-2010, 06:35 PM
It can be done but its not the best route to go.
Look for an after market fiberglass TL bumper, and merge them both. It will save you headaches down the road
xseveredveganx
04-13-2010, 06:37 PM
I'm with Agi... You can mold the TL poly bumper to the fiberglass. Lord makes a Fusor product that will do that, but fiberglass with fiberglass is a much better bond.
I've helped with molding poly bumpers to cars with Fusor. Works great and I haven't had one crack out.
Looks good, bro!!!

i was thinking along the lines of fabbing up brackets that will mount to my car the same way the stock bumper does...will that not work?

how well does it match up with the stock bumper as far as the dimensions go? Looks like they can chop the headlight holes and section the bumper.
widebody_Q
04-17-2010, 02:17 AM
The GS is alittle wider. Since hes pulling out the front fenders for the wheels, he may be able to get away with the added width without chopping it down the middle if he pulls out the entire fender

So sick, this will be clean... I cant wait to see it in person.... (at one of the meets)
the dimensions are almost spot on..thats the main reason i went with the version for the gs, the dimensions are pretty damn similar in terms of size, and the headlights have that same aggressive shape and angle, hence the almost spot on bodyline underneath it.

they arent insanely wide, only on my car :pat: haha im the same way, im against half assed attempts at big wheels just to set records. rest assured, i didnt just pic out the most aggressive numbers i could, i measured and drew out exactly what i wanted, and this process will be very slow, as i will make no compromises and take no short cuts or cheap alternatives.

The TL has lots of rear quarter to play with cause the bumper starts so low. Looking good so far. Hopefully you can pull the front off as well
i wasnt planning on needing a 20 mm spacer to clear the brakes, so hopefully we can still pull it off. I will def be getting new wheels as soon as im tired of the LXZ, and it WONT BE 9-40 lolol. once the coils are compressed, the camber helps a little, and we gonna add a fender vent in there to hopefully help it flow a bit more. i was the one test fitting for pictures, so i didnt care to check the tires. and dennis, i want you to know me not working with you had nothing to do with trust, only financial issues. i appreciate you taking the time to meet with me.

07-30-2010, 05:37 PM
Yea just get two Front non concaves in a high disk. You will be happier in the end. If you were to do it the way you are now and not like the outcome, you will still have to pay for the labor/paint and end up getting new fenders/bumper to work on.
When you consider that you can get most of your money back in selling your current front wheels, why not do it? You will save in the long run and your car will come out closer to how u want it.
Also, its not like ur loosing lip. The concave robs u of lip and you have a huge spacer on top of that. Even by going less aggressive and getting a hi disk, you should still have the same amount of lip

im just gonna see how it turns out. tbh, the reason i got this setup was to have concave all around, if i was to get the non concave face, id get a dif set of wheels. i did plan out exactly how i wanted the fronts to sit in relation to the rears, and this is only off by 5mm. otherwise its exactly where i want it in terms of proportions. i DEF get where some of y'all are coming from, and im scared about it too, but this is just meant to be a stupid over the top build. i think the fact that youre seeing the rears with the coils compressed and the quarter panel all cut up is making the front look like its 20x more aggressive then the rears. in reality its not.
