Hi Everyone
I am new here and I live in Honolulu, Hawaii. (we have lots of Japanese styled VIP and drift cars here believe it or not)
I am looking at getting a used SC430 (Yes I know its not a VIP car) but I wanted to go with a VIP -theme-. Its weird because the SC430 was made by lexus to be a luxury sporty car, but I know it does not have the large VIP kits etc for it yet. So it can be "sporty" and not VIP (I got back from a 10 day trip from Japan as you can tell hehe)
Anyway a few dealers have 3 SC430s around town for sale they are all in my budget (under 35K) and since they are island cars most have low miles. I know quality and carfax reports are the bottom line but before I begin seriously looking I was wondering what color you think is best out of the 3 for a VIP -themed- SC430.
2002-2003 SC430 best color combo?
Bright White with dark brown (baseball glove) interior
Bright red with light tan interior
Dark grey with black interior
When in Japan I noticed that the most popular colors for VIP cars (at least in Toyko) were Black, Silver, White and bright red, oh and BLACK, Black and Black :2funny: hehe did I say that already. ;)
What do you think the best colors are for VIP styled cars? Also the best color for the SC430?
Thanks!

IMO its a kind of pearl white metallic
I had a TOMY lexus SC400 matchbox in that colour when I was little
and i think it was the pimpest color ever painted on a lexus
im sure it is just as good, if not better on a sc430
plus white shows off the design of body kit very well
it lights up the street in a very majestic kind of way

Black is traditional, but now adays, most people don't care. White, silver, grey, are all sweet colors that look good for a vip car.

Silver is nice but a b*tch to color match. Even the factory cars don't really match up when in the sun..

What I meant to say is that any metallic paint is hard to touch up, silver being the hardest. All my buddies that paint hate blending silver..I guess it all depends on the individual, paint quality and know how..just my 2 cents.. :buck2:

Theres no best color for a vip car. Its like any other way or tuning. Be creative. Be different. Dont blend in with the rest.

That's a great answer!
I think traditionally people think black or white. Dark colors like midnight blue and burgundy (colors that look black at night)
also are on the fringes of 'traditional' VIP. Most of the Japanese JP cars are actually dark green from what I've been told.
Not that VIP is mainstream... but I didn't want my GS to look like anyone else's car.
Three-tone was 'the move' for me (the roof is midnight blue to match the stripe separating the two blue colors)

when you read and look at all the vip mags and videos...agreed that there is no specific vip color, but more traditional colors are black, white or silver...i got brown... ;D.

I couldnt decide myself between white/black/silver, so I ended up with all of them.* White top/black pinstripe/silver bottom.* lol.

So maybe when mine is finished I could be close to VIP?

ok. i'll lay it down.
vip coloring:
white
black
silver/gray (or any shade)
------
darker colors usually acceptable aswell:
dark green
dark to medium blue
dark to brighter red (bright is hard to pull off correctly aswell- but still possible)
dark to mid champange/sand (not usually prefered but still pheasible [sp?])
much darker browns
-----
colors never recognized as v.i.p.:
yellow (period.)
light/baby blues
all oranges
any light/bright greens
basically anything that overtly screams "please look at me"
------
feel free to mention any other colors i might have missed in the colors not recognized

people continually and constanly state that these cars are black, yet never look at the bright light shining on the bumper, showing the nice deep green!

once you go black....
you kick yourself in the ass and realized you should have stuck with white...(girls that is)
i think it also depends on where you park...if you live in a condo or townhouse and don't have access to covered parking, you may want to pick a lighter color like white or black...black is VERY high main't.

pearl white gets my vote
its sexy
vip is whatever you want it to be.
it can be that classy, luxury style.
or it can be crazy wangan racer/tuner style.
so whatever colour you paint a VIP car it'll still be VIP.

I like white myself and always did. Only reason is because i think white is classy and it shows the lines of the car. Black is nice too because its Gangsta. But like everyone said just paint it the way u want. There is no VIP color its what u make it =). If you worried about what people think because u choose a color out the ordinary then stick with the normal colors but if u dont give a fuck what people think then go do what u want and if people dont like it so what there not the one that drives it everyday. I like the green but i cant see myself in a green car but thats just me. DO what cha like!

Black does look real nice but if I had it my way I'd get a real deep dark blue. Kind of like the Midnight Indigo Pearl on the SCs (8J5).
