I'm driving a 1.3A Pre face lift hyundai getz/click...basically I would really love to slam 17" rims in it but due to the fact like FC (10km per litre)and pickup of the car which is already slow(century sprint--13secs), got no choice but to go with 15" or 16".
Question is...does 15" defeats the purpose of a VIP themed k-car?? I've browse thru a few k-car magazines(jap) and it seems like most of the k-cars which are vip-themed are using 15"...is it becoz of the same rational(more fuel econ) as me??

Nope, the style is as much about fluidity of design as anything. A large wheel often over powers a design and makes a car look unbalanced, therefore its very common to find a very wide / low offset 18 on a big Cima...

there are many great looking vipstyle K-cars with 15" wheels
sub-1000cc cars like wagon R and a few others dont really have large wheelwells
IMO as long as the fitment is tight its all good

Where did you get the idea that vipstyle = large diameter wheels?
I'm sure you will have noticed from the magazine that they achieve the vipstyle look with wideish Japanese rims and killer camber; Any savings in fuel economy are just going to be eaten up with increased tyre wear. They also drive completely slammed on these tiny rims... (not exactly performance based).
In short, none of the defining aspects of vipstyle are for performance or money savings...
I'm not trying to discourage you, just giving you a heads up... because when you try to do vipstyle with a non-vip car you really need to go all-out or it will miss the mark completely

Thanks for all the replies ya! Personally, i feel that dressing up a car is something like dressing up your own self. If u follow blindly, u r the fashion victim :police: BUT if u got the basic concept but with your own style added in...viola...fashionista!! :smitten:

In this case the basic concept for vip stylin a kei car is: slammed right down, low offset wide wheels (15-16"), cambered and stretched tyres so they sit right at the edge of the guards. If you achieve that you can do what you want with the rest and it will still look good (within reason of course).
But at the end of the day you should do what YOU want to do with the car. If it has the VIP look then it will be obvious, and you will have a very unique ride. If it doesnt, well as long as you are happy ;)

While I was stationed in Japan for 3yrs, I haven't seen a K-Car with 17's. Most of them roll on 15's and a few on 16's with low offsets. And even with some of the roads are bad, they still drive slammed!!!!!
