how do you get this durn thing out? unscrewed the 2 screws on the actual shifter, removed the surrounding trim thing, and unclipped the gear selector plate thing, but i cant figure out how this dumb thing comes off. the shift knob seems to be permenantly attached to the chrome shift lever, and the lever seems to be attached to somthing underneath the gear selector plate that i cant seem to reach. fsm offers no help at this point. anyone know?

just from what I remember converting my 240 to manual from the auto... the automatic shift knob is held on by screws in addition to the actual working for the selector button if you have one... I think Y33's do... but I pretty much broke mine getting it off on the 240 tranny... maybe that could help somehow..
