I finally got my new wheels installed the other weekend, completing my year-long exterior makeover... thought you guys should see it.

The car is not traditional VIP, but I thought you guys might like to see my "white guy American style" 2GS...

The car is painted three shades of blue (blue/black roof) with fender & hood vents, new exhaust, a JP spoiler and Explosion kit with real carbon fiber work, flush-mounted SUPRA LED brake light, new headlights, tail lights, windshield, etc... Credit for the body & paint goes to Joe @ Backyard Creations in Temple City... a true artist.

Fenders are also stretched 6mm front & 4mm rear, wheels are 20x9.5 255/30-20 + 20x11.5 305/25-20 Zone 8.

Don't roast me too badly... did I mention the car is NOT VIP? ;)

Bob,

do you mind posting up more pics of the rear (flush mounted supra led tails)? by the way, car is sweet.

This is the best shot I have at the moment. The Supra brake light fit like it was made for the 2GS.

I still can't get over how cool the carbon fiber work looks in person. It's very obvious it's NOT a sticker when seen in person.
The exhaust tips are staggered to follow the curve of the bumper.

I wanted the tires to have a slightly more stretched appearance, but these new Yokohama Advan Sports run EXTREMELY wide for their size. I love the fat tire look and wanted to really push the envelope with the wheel/tire set-up. Skinny tires have already been done 1067 times on a GS...

You can see how much the fenders are stretched in this shot, especially the front ones (notice how much the tires stick out at the bottom of the body?). The rear H&R coilovers are adjusted down as far as they will go - camber is -2.2 degrees, the camber adjusters are set as POSITIVE as possible to get decent tire wear (the car is my daily thumper, after all). I tried making the front wheels a little more aggressive, but found the tire hits the fender when turning in driveways. The inner lip is completely cut away on all fenders.

Thanks for the kind words so far!

Nice catch! It's all about the details...

The inner rims are actually powder coated blue.
On the centers, the 'windows' of the spokes are polished and 'face' of the spokes is brushed - a time-consuming process.
The outer rims are chrome plated for maximum visual 'pop' and minimal maintenance.

Someone asked... these wheels are made by Zone Wheels, the style is "Zone 8."

:) Interior is already done... suede seat inserts, custom 'darkwood' conversion was done a year ago.
Audio system is killer, but I'm waiting to show that until the trunk is 100% finished (car is sponsored by Boston Acoustics - I need the system to be perfect). This shot was taken before the audio was in... the wood treatment is very slick.

Pretty clean! You should find a way to hide those screws for the skirts though, some caps maybe? :)

The screws aren't visible with the doors shut. The problem with putting caps over them is that if the caps aren't flush they will distort the rubber flap at the lower edge of the door that covers them - then tou'll see little bumps in the rubber flap when the doors are closed. Not an appealing tradeoff! The interior shots were taken before the car was painted - we used different screws when the side skirts were re-installed that are less visible.

Anyway, thanks for the compliments. I wish you guys could see the paint in person - it really is quite stunning.
The center section of the roof is black with blue pearl. I tried to capture it on film, but I couldn't do it.

Rolling and studio shots coming soon... ;)

bob

when you do the fender pull on the front, do you keep the inner plastic fender liners, or do you just run it open?

John...? That you? You have a new son, don't you? Still have the GS?
Ping me at the office sometime! bhale@zonewheels.com

Car was just photographed by a tire company. I have another set of 20" wheels I just built and I have 21s being made this week. I'll post new images as soon as we get them!
