I think you managed to pull it off EXTREMELY WELL! Congrats!

I think the only thing that bothers my eye is the lack of a well defined body line on the sides, it could just be the dark color, it's hard to tell.

None-the-less the car looks excellent! Great job.

he just has FB, and i think he likes it that way personally...

we both lost a lot of sleep on this car this weekend (i had to give him rides back and forth in the morning and night from home to shop), but it was well worth it!!!

and actually, the car didn't use to have a defined body line, but it is there now, thats one reason he redid it, it must be hard to tell with the color (photobucket is blocked at work, so i dont' know what pics he posted)

none the less...the car turned out GREAT, and yes, i told him he was extremely ballsy to do his car dark like that, but it turned out great!!!

Hey guys thanksf for the feedback/support. i had a feeling i was going to get flamed but i realized that this is not a ''drift til you die'' forum *or a ''JDM-JDM'' forum, you folks know what i mean. thanks for the open mindness.

but the color was ballsy, yes, but i couldnt picture the car in a bright color like silver or white, a color that would hide many blemmishes. the color is off the 97-98 pathfinders, called rain forrest green * basically a blend of forrest green and olive green, exactly what i was looking for.

the base color is by BASF ,from the diamont line and the clear we used is HB Body which is a high build, thick clear perfect for doing deep wet sanding/buffing.

Im loving that color, looks good. Have you thought about getting a vip style muffler?

I think an exhaust like this...

or this....

Might want to consider your exhaust carefully, the Accord doesn't always make the uh...classiest noises :D

haha, my friend had the SOHC Vtec accord, and when he put a muffler on it, the thing would set off car alarms in the next block. Droney as hell, but at least no crackling. IMO that would suit the vip look though!

a few suggestions here:

a different exahust setup. show as much stainless steel as you can

new/different set of headlights. the black housing makes the car look rather dark and dull from the front

chrome trim/overlay. since you do not have door handles, i would highly sugggest chrome trim/overlay. side window trim to be exact, excluding the pillar. (imo, if you had handles i would have suggested chrome overlays on the door handles instead)

window tint. its really hard to say what kind tint (darkness and color) would make the car even more vip style. i would choose a light, but darker than "stock" brownish tint

oem hood badge and rear trunk accord emblem. the badge-less way sorta makes the car look like your typical show car. since the rear spoiler has been incorporated, i would only use the accord emblem in the rear (and the v6 if you have an EX model).

and last but not least... recline your front seats down more!!! :D

id have to say keep it badgeless. keep everyday people guessing.and im sure he'll put the stock chrome window trim back on. but yes the right tint would make an impressive difference.

11-16-2006, 09:41 AM
yeah the chrome trim and tint are definitely going to be next on the agenda. i had paint the trim way back in the day during the ''tuner'' times. now it look more EURO than anything. i will say this,i havent been able to figure out the trim on the doors itself. i was at thejunk yard in the ''accord corner'' i must have busted up half the accord door trims there!

i did see a badge that i wanted to put on. it looked like the bentley wings badge but it was off a honda goldwing, the motorcycle. other than that i want it badgeless.

kinda harsh there ???. someone else asked you why you didn't throw money into a q instead. personally i think your accord has more vipstyle than most of the q45s which IS a vip chassis, on this forum. at least someone is putting money where there mouth is.

honestly, hes owned this f'ing accord for about, what, like 10 years now Arch??? :P

but seriously though, its been about a good 7 years, and i've seen it go through MANY stages, and this is by far the cleanest stage thus far!

He did all the body work himself either in his home garage or his front yard, and to look at the car in real life honestly, pictures just don't do it justice, the body work is pretty much straight for the most part, but the pics show off the bumpiness of the un-wetsanded and buffed clear coat, hopefully after tomorrow night, we will have some cleaner pics to show off ;)

I'm thinking a chrome pinstripe running along the beltline from the front headlight, all along the sides, and then swept up at the back to go across the spoiler.... that would add a "line"-literally-to the side of the car, and tie everything in together...

as far as the chrome trim id like to eventaully add door panels with the chrome trim along the tops of them. i wanted to do that before paint but that was put on the backburner due to time constraints.
i wanted to keep the door handles more than anything but again, time was of the essence.* ihave spent so much time building this car iwas almost frustrated to the point of scrapping the whole project. literally dropping it off at a wrecking yard and forgetting about it.* *

i do plan on getting the door windows and door trim in chrome though. i do like that quikchop HAHAJOEY withthe chrome waistline. maybe i might go ahead and put on some door panels.

hahajoey
11-17-2006, 08:36 AM
lol..
hey i wonder how it'd be if u just flared out the bottom 1/2 of the doors..
like make them step out about 1/4" and use a chrome trim on the top of it.

It is hard for me to see the lines of the car, but i did my best to contour the curves of the car...here's an inexpensive and quick idea...just do a chrome pinstripe similar to JP stuff. Oh and chrome mirrors too.

11-17-2006, 11:38 AM
yeah i'm diggin the chrome mirror treatment. im sure that if i found a set they'd be some crappy ebay product though.

i see there s an interest in the body line debate, rest assured there is a body line. i shaped the car to over exagerate the stock bodypanels of the accord. at the time of the pics the clear was still curing. so, with a clear thats not smoothed, combined with the positioning under the shade, its going to look like a dusty car in the dark. the wetsand and buffing process will be done saturday afternoon. i may do a little write-up on that. soon enough, we'll get the car polished and i have a photo-bug thats good with cars. he'll expose all the lines of the car.

arch is on his 10 window now from having to roll them up from the rain then having to break the glass to get into the car... :2funny:

actually, its just a solenoid that opens the hinge on his door...basically when he hits a button on a remote (like a car alarm remote), it sends a signal to the solenoidthats connected to to rod that connects to the outer door handle usually and pulls the rod thats connected to the inside of the door handle and pops the door open.....lamen terms, he presses a button and they open...

Lookin' good man. I think a pinstripe or stripe of some sort to give the side some definition would make a huge difference. Just try it with some simple thin masking tape or something at first to see if you like it or not. That way you dont waste too much time or money on a "stripe."

Shows off the front and rear widebody treatment - i always thought it was just a solid block of widebody all the way through, but now i see its pumped just like the badboys from Japan. I agree that chrome accents and pinstripes would just set this car off onto another level though, its up to you in the end.

OnTop
11-21-2006, 12:44 PM
WOW i cant believe you guys are diggin the shots! i ddnt think they came out that good. as far as the rear, it IS jacked up higher than the front. i think what im going to do is put a helper spring in the front(like my rears) to raise it 1/2'' and for the back put a smaller tire on. with a 245/40 it scrubs a little when cruising over small bumps like reflectors and im pretty close to the limit of what i can clear out for clearance. hopefully with the smaller tire like a 235/40 it will lower the overall height just a little as well as increase the room for movement. then i can adjust my ride height to go down lower. basically it will level out. but as always money it pretty tight for some tires!!!!

I strongly disagree Bernal. I think this VIPstyled accord is better than the majority of true VIP platform that try this style out. Either they dont hit stance, or it doesnt flow. I think it does it very well.

awesome first post bernal =/......hope this page doesn't become like the old one with all the "all-knowing and arrogant n00bs"....yes, i'm sure that EVERYONE on this site knows that "a VIP car is a large RWD sedan"...however, welcome to vipSTYLEcars, there are VIP platform cars here as well as vip-STYLED cars and minivans and boxes and k-cars, etc etc etc...honestly, you find me a cleaner accord in the states thats not "vip styled", then we can talk...however, if he came on here and just had a stock body with 17x7.5 with a +40 offset wheels, the first thing said would be "get better fitting wheels" (which he has already)...the second thing, if he came with just springs (or in some cases coils), people would most likely say "go lower"....which once again, he already has (air). The body work is his personal preference, he had the widebody accord when it was tuner style, and decided to take it to the next level with a vip STYLE format (which i must say looks a thousand times better having better fitting wheels and an awesome stance, not to mention the body flows a lot nicer now and everything on the car is matched up, and has added his own "non-traditional" vip STYLE flare with the color choice)...but enough of my rant.....welcome to vipSTYLEcars.com.........

anyways, can't wait for the interior of the car to be done, pictures do no justice the the body work in real life and the time and effort that went into doing this car right

fuck what anyone else thinks, that accord is the best looking custom widebody i've ever seen in the US, and close to the best I've ever seen period (minus a select handful of custom vip styled japanese wagons).

- Buy some clear/red "jaguar" style tail lights.
- Get a dual exhaust
- Chrome accent on the doors
- I would have kept the handles.

But I know you why you didn't keep the handles and all, and you know what it doesn't matter at all. Very nice car!

Are there any build pics or anything? Wondering how you went about with the widebody...like did you use foam or other methods?
