my bodyshop is telling my that my sideskirt won't fit perfect but yet other USDM q45's have no problem with their sideskirts sitting flush. My q45 kinda flares out. It's even more noticable in real life. What you guys think ? is it possible to get it to fit right ? or am I getting a song and dance ?

what brand stuff? I know some 'massaging' is needed to make alot of lower quality pieces fit like OEM.

Like what gmckey said, is your kit the real deal?
Generally, real kits fit excellent, hard to say for alll manufacturers tho.
Real aftermarket kits are based off an oem bumper.
Fake kits are copied off the 'real kit', so naturally you can assume that the fake copy kits are bigger/wider and won't fit right.
Usually you'll end up spending so much money modding the copy kit to fit, that you shoulda bought a real one in the first place :(
Got pics to post of it at the current condition in the body shop?

Also, I've heard things before like some of the Wald lip kits are warped from being made 5+ years ago and sitting in a warehouse since then. However, in the end, a reputable body shop should be able to make even an aftermarket LS front bumper fit a Q45 with enough work, know what I mean?

this kit is a similar kit to the wald executive line, it's not identical but I guess you can call it a replica.
but regardless, Wald or replica, it will need massive customizing and and chopping to fit the USDM y33 bumpers. The USDM bumper is not only thicker, but also taller and wider.
You can buy a brand name "armani" suit that's two sizes two big and you'll look like a fool. I'd rather have a no name suit that was custom tailored to my body.
the whole "warped" theory is completely BULLSH*T. Whoever said that was talking out of his ass.
I just feel that with proper cutting on the inner rocker sill panel, it can be made to fit.

Eh, I'm not so sure... I've seen cheap ebay fg fenders and stuff that were warped from sitting in boxes with weight on them. Hell, I've seen a bumper be left outside for 3 months sitting on the 'wheel well' part and it warped and bowed from it's own weight!

You err, uh get what you pay for?

fyi, It's the fitting and install that I paid for. the kit was cheap.
and also fyi, there has been a few attempts with the wald lip kit on USDM Y33. Please search for it and review it's fitment, then come back and look at my replica fitment.

the fitment issue on the wald kit with dorimon's car WAS NOT BECAUSE IT WAS WARPED.

who's saying his fit because it was warped. from what I've seen, it does take some 'massaging' or whatever to get it to fit USDM cars. all I was trying to get across is fiberglass parts ARE ABLE TO warp. I was just trying to offer up some sort of answer to the title of your thread, need I remind you that you posted up 'why won't my rocker sill panel kit fit properly ?' how the crap am I supposed to know sitting at a computer in Texas? It was just a thought.

ok ok.
you know what? I think it's the gap that's making it look wierd. You guys think it's the gap between the sill and the door ?

one other thing, I'm not sure if the holes were predrilled on the sides (I'm guessing they most likely weren't) then depending on where the holes were drilled and where it was mounted to the body, the 'fit' can seem different. I know on my old S14 I mounted the top of the skirt as tight to the body as possible and the bottom of the skirt as far away from the body as possible to flare out and flow better w/ the wider wheels.

just my experience with fiberglass kits on my old s14, i had the greddy gracier sides and rears, and honestly they didnt fit perfectly and i bought them from someone who already had it installed on their car. the left side rocker had some buldge around the door area even after having it sanded and painted by a professional body shop. it doesnt necessarily have to do with the brand or quality of the kit. in my opinion it seems like with fiberglass in general, regardless of how they have created it, its gonna need customization. generally if its not oem its not a "perfect" fit.

Either way, I'm thinking of taking it to a bodyshop in the spring to redo the whole fitment all around the car.
