so it is VIP. japanese who started it say "bippu" but its because they have to end every word in a vowel. so it woud be "veep" but they got the word from the english VIP, very important person car. you have a vip car to make you look like a boss.

but, do you think we should call it "beep" or "bippu" just because japanese people can't say it right?

seems like if we do, then we should call other things by the japanese accented verion but we don't.

Personally, IMHO modding cars are an extension of our own unique self. We mod because we want to be different/unique. I think same should goes for pronounciation.

If the Japanese made a mistake without knowing it, should we follow the same mistake? I don't know. I think both is right... Up to individual on how to call it.

Imagine the Japanese trying to spell Bling bling... It's gonna be bring bring!

Jus my two cents.

While i often refer to it online as bippu, i wouldnt say it outloud - i have a perfect ability to say V and end without a vowel. So i say vip, rhyming with whip.

But I still get alot of confused looks from friends etc, so often i just say Vee Eye Pee

I don't give in :D
When people say vee eye pee, I continue to say Vip (when I'm talking about this kind).
I've even got my friend saying it, and he knows it's 'bip' or 'bippu' in Japan

HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU GUYS HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS?

As many times as it takes I guess lol!

The most popular threads on VSC are those in which people are seeking acceptance by asking "am i vip, is this vip, can this be vip, what is vip, does doing x make it vip?" and those asking how to pronounce vip ... LOL

You're right Qproject, who effin' cares...

But unless the scene somehow explodes one day into the mainstream and people start to really understand, these "stupid" questions will keep poppin' up, and we'll continue to be bustin' a vein

I was totally psyched to get green tint but my paint turned out darker than I expected and reflects more greens and yellows than the old paint so I'm scrapping that and going with straight black

I agree with Dom and Boost_me. I think the whole pronunciation thing is silly. We should pronounce it how we would...not as how Japanese pronounce it. I mean do you say "dorifuto" or "drift"? I know some of you will get my point and others will be diehards in their own right and continue to pronounce it Bee Poo.

As far as the green tint thing..I like it. It goes towards the European side with the blue and green tints often found from some of the manufacturers over there. My Benz has a bluish green hue to it, but I put regular charcoal on it, so now it just looks dark green.

I have seen it both as VIP and bippu. But I think VIP is a bit older most younger Japanese know it as Bippu.
