Earlier today a buddy of mine had gotten himself a new 'used' car after his focus died on him. We have been talking about the style and culture for almost a year and he's always wondered what a domestic would look like.
Well he got himself a 97 Grand Marquis and immediately asked what one would look like chopped. Figured I would give it a shot for my first time actually learning PS.

P.S. If the owner of the car is a member here, I apologize. That pic was the only one similar in position.

Haha that's cool. I"m waiting for the day when somebody steps up and builds a us platform such as that. IIRC there was a lincoln towncar on works in hawaii a while back, don't know what happened to it.

interesting. they do have big wheel wells to fit wheels into that is for sure. Again why a lot of 300c guys did them up too.
bob_sagat: IIRC? Illinois Interactive Report Card? hahhaa it was the first thing that popped up on google.

If I recall correctly IIRC stands for... lol...
I dont know what's the best domestic platform for VIP but some just look odd & out of place, imo the 300 is the best ride to pull it off..

If I Recall Correctly :P
Ill build an american car this style when they make them as reliable as their Japanese counterparts. I only abuse my ls the way i do because she can TAKE it. =)

It does look out of place. I told him to look up something as far as suspension goes (his has air) and a good set of rims. Not much else I can really see him doing unless he takes cues from the town car. The interior is nice though.
Anyone willing to drop some suggestions? Been looking at the Cartier and Signature trims for him. As for wheels, I have no idea what the pattern is (thinking 5x108).

Gonna go on a limb here but go presidential style with it.

get the top done like that, chrome trim ring, some vip style bumper poles with some flags. lots of camber, and get some deep wheels. if you have to machine the studs and rotors to do 5x114 do it.
i think the lincoln conty from that year is almost the same and think the front ends are a bit different. But some deep wheels, black face, paint the car black.. should look pretty good

I'll be doing my best to make the Lincoln Ls the best domestic vip style platform...

If its 5x108 its going to suck to find soothing good for rims without changing the lug pattern or having the rims re-drilled. This is the problem i looking at. However if im not mistaken the lug pattern should be 5x4.5 so he need not worry.
As far as his car, custom is the way hes going to have to go. Like mine, the aftermarket community is not slamming down the door to make parts for this car. He could pull parts off the Town car Lincoln continental that may offer a step up in he luxuy department for the inside and go custom on the outside.
If recall its a bench in the front, two buckets and a long center consul with some A/V goodies with matching wood grain would give a huge roomy cabin for the driver and passenger.
Look at something from UCF 20, I think at the shape of the two cars this would be a great place to start to make a custom body kit using aftermarket and stock bumpers.. This similar shape is not perfect but its close, this would offer you a bunch of styling options.

Thanks for all the responses fellas. I've been conversing with him about the matter alot lately and he's shy about spending the kind of money for custom work, but I gave him the age-old adage "Gotta pay to play".
Somewhat ironic that the more time I've spent around him and his car (as of late) the more I see potential in it if the right measures are taken. Somewhat considering a full size domestic myself
Kouki:
I showed him your PS and he's been begging his old man to scrap his towncar so he can take parts from it.
JDOX:
Whenever I see an LS, I always think 'Jag'-based styling. Been checking your thread and can't wait to see the finished product.
