How often do you get pulled over? [Archive]

Ive been pulled over close to 20 times. Only one ticket in my life. My car is pretty high profile for the area, and will always get cops to stop and stare. Ive kinda gotten used to it really. Just as long as they dont ticket me, I dont mind them stopping me and asking fun questions about the car.

yea almost everybody drives like a grandpa going 45 on the freeway:mad: ..but some people like to tailgate you going 60mph in the middle lane.

I honestly cant even remember the last time i was pulled over for a random breath test. Last time caught speeding was 2001...

Seems that every time i see a cop they are busy with someone else or going in the wrong direction.

In Australia are alot more strict on modifications here than in the US. If they pull you over and your car is modified, then 9 times out of 10 they will do a walk around (and under hood) inspection. When they do that you can almost guarantee a ticket for something. Some of the things that friends, and other aussie forum members have been ticketed for:
Loose battery clamp (after the cop wiggled it for 10 seconds till it came loose - no joke this was a mate of mine)
Battery not secured tightly
Empty windscreen washer resovoir
non-standard air-intake (pod filters are a big target)
Blue headlights
Numberplate not in standard location or not fixed correctly
Exhaust volume

Then there is the really annoying ones
Too low (alot of people fail that, i nearly have been but it was a nice cop)
Wheels too large (Usually 1" larger than the largest factory option wheel is the max)
Tyres too wide
Tyres too skinny
Wheels not entirely within the body line (i.e. the flush look is very much illegal)

But the funny thing is, police only have to "suspect" you fail any of the above or many other criteria, and they give you a fine, and you have to take your car to an authorised checking station where they are even stricter.

I get the feeling the day i get pulled over, is the day i get a ticket *now knocking my desk like a madman*

in hawaii, as long as you don't drive a modified honda, cops will hardly bother you unless you're doing something stupid like speeding.

Cops tend to look at my car, but they can look into the windows and see that I am no gangster or a drug dealer. I have had a cop tell me to turn off my puddle lights once, but so far that's about it. *knock on wood*

Cops are like dogs, if they smell fear, they will attack. I don't drive 29mph if theres a cop behind me...nor do I change my posture when I drive...I got nothing to hide.

I know why they pull me over....LOL...especially when they see 4 shaved heads and a raiders plate hahaha.... Theres also countless times they roll up behind me and run my plates....I think one thing that kinda saves me is my "Vet" plates. So far I 've only got a tint ticket(140 w/o corr).... The one time I got pulled over for hittin switches the cop just gave me a warning....nowadays I hardly hit em...plus i just put the silencers on yesterday so now u can't hear sh.........

I've only had a cop shine the spot light on me on the freeway, but i admit he did it because I passed him up doing like 95+ mph..... only reason he let me go was that he never saw me hit my brakes and I had been slowing down anyways.... i'm a good boy now from time to time hahahahaha

Have not been pulled over in about a year or so. It was becuase when entering the freeway I crossed over the devider to soon rather than waiting for the to lanes to merge into one. He had another call and let me go. TBTG!

Yo Dee Sorry to here about that. I know when I was younger hanging with the homies running the streets and what not it seemed I allways had runnings with the PIGS but since 97 when I left that lifestyle and put my shit together I stopped having problems, but like you said 4 shaved heads in a Q slammed with Chrome is asking for attention from them Hootas, I guess its second to donughts to them..Good Luck!

My first car was a '90 lincoln town car. It was dark blue with chrome wheels. I got pulled over in that thing at least 2 times a week. Never got a ticket though. The hassle is what drove me to get rid of it. As I am getting ready to buy a Q I think I could have the same problem but I don't look like the little snot I used to so maybe I will get off a little easier. Plus a towncar is a little more ghetto than an infiniti if you ask me.

When I bought my S13 I never got pulled over once. I got mailed a ticket for doing 32 in a 30 though while visiting a friend in Chicago. Haha.

5 years ago i used to have a lot, put all the tickets together (different citeis) it'll look like a raibow colored stationaries, put all the numbers (ticket numers) and put it into a bowl and draw it i could win a lottery!!! ...after doing schooling thing as per "judge" no tickets at all! (knocking on wood-every wood i can find literally in my office!!!) i drive slow now and tend not to hurry, i leave early whenever possible and take precaustions all the time. one thing that got me into driving slowly is when i got into an accident 2-3 years ago i have a tatanium on my right leg! i must say i will not be driving that much fast anymore because i don't want to feel the pain again!

i've had my LS for 1year and have been pulled over once. coming back from arizona nightshift, i just crossed stateline and the CHP pulled me over for no front and rear plate and window tint. pretty lame if you ask me. haha.

my wrx I was pulled over about 15 times in 3 yrs. 2x resulting an a arrest because of street racing (400hp is tempting)

my benz I've had for about 8 months. never been pulled over. its actually been over a yr since I've been pulled over. I drive fairly slow on the streets mainly because my car is an inch from the ground and I have a wald kit. on the freeway I usually cruise @ 10 over. I've learned my lesson. :p

I was stopped the other day for swingin the tail of the car across my lot at work in the snow. Cop was a customer of my store. he told me not to do that anymore and sent me on my way. It's been a few years sinceI had a ticket for anything..VIP style cars = not driving fast. I mean, in the xB, why try to go fast. I got fast on the highway and everyone is going faster anyway.

No front plate will do you in..Then they bust your for tints, modified exhaust,lowered vehicle, seatbelts, etc..
Atlest on Maui, we don't have recon yet..And what the fine for tints per window?? 95 or 150 dollars???

Bah, I've been rolling with no front plate for over a month, no problems.

I guess, they don't care as much as if I had a flashy car, but..dunno. People have been busted here for snow on the rear plate so maybe I'm just lucky

Id say ive been pulled over about 8 or 9 times in 05, none in 06 :) I keep my front plate turned off at night now cause I had to duck and run from a copper a couple years ago after I caught him staring at it. oddly enough the only ticket ive ever gotten was for riding in the back of a pickup truck hahaha.

since my car came out the shop i would say about 3 times a month atleast. I only got one ticket though. The cops just want to know what kind of car it is and how I keep a bead on the tires and whats up with the curtains. They all come up with bs reasons onto why they pulled me over -"I pulled you over because your turn signal is out or I pulled you over because your brake lights are out" but im not complaing, only ticket I got was for an expired inspection.

Just in 2006 I was hit with 4 tickets in a span of 6 months, two of which were at the same spots. I had the car on cruise control at the speed limit and both times I was hit with a ticket by the same cop (once in a black Range Rover and once in a black Ridgeline). The two cases I'm fighting, and they are pending right now.

Another case was while driving back in my G35 coupe from a company Christmas party. Got pulled over for no reason, they gave me a field sobriety test, nothing happenned. After I passed, they decided that they were going to write me up for a speeding ticket. This too I am fighting in court right now. I'm using this one company to plead my case the right way, check it out if you have time, it really works.(www.ticketassassin.com)

The fourth ticket, accounts for the multiple parking tickets that I received over the year. Trying to make deadlines and meetings are a headache in downtown LA. Sometimes its worth getting the stupid ticket and not worrying about parking. Probably paid over $2000 these past couple years from parking tickets alone. Stupid to some, but for those that are in situations like mine, opportunity cost rules.

Bottom line, cops are dicks to cars that are modded in any shape or form no matter what you look like. But then again, I have friends that never even get pulled over. Some guys are just lucky.

ts like nearly 5am (just got home) but i just wanted to say that i got pulled over last night (friday) at around 10:00 by either undercover or gang unit. there were THREE of them that approached my car ph34r.gif they started interrogating me because i have a shaved head and a black ls400 with diamond cut wheels. whoopteedo. central OC is getting watched on like crazy now. why? i have no effin clue other than the recent arrest of a guy that lives a few blocks away from me that had a black ls400 too (which is now impounded)

I got pulled over by one of those cops as well. I didn't know he was a cop since he was driving a Nissan Altima. I was following my girl and her friends home and this Altima swoops in looking like he's trying to race their car. Being the gentleman that I am, I blocked him out and wouldn't let him make the quick lane change. All the sudden the Altima pulls behind me and squad car lights go off. So I exit the freeway and pull over. The guy acted like a total dick. He said he was an undercover cop and that he had the power to arrest me. For what I asked? No reason, he just has the power to do it, so he states. These guys act tough and don't take $hit from anyone. I was being polite and courteous, but damn they treated me like I was some punk gangster out causing trouble. I mean, give me a lil credit, I drive a somewhat decent car (Infiniti G35 coupe), have a corporate job, was dressed in a suit coming back from work, and have nothing on my record (knock on wood). There's no reason for some of these cops that do the things they do. POWER TRIP!

LoL, you are surprised you got booked at 15mph over the limit? Thats a fair bit over! Over here they have an unofficial 10% leniency, but if they want to be dicks, they can get you for 1km/h over.

No offence, but IMO if you are in the wrong, you cant complain when you get booked. Dont get me wrong, the other day when i got a USD$150 parking ticket for parking too close to a street corner i was pissed, but no use complaining...

Well I was riding with my family in a 2004 wrx wagon when we were like 4 blocks away from my house when we got pulled over after the turn. The officer ticketed us for the license plate cause it didnt come in after like 5 months and then after the cop stated adding tint(front windows are illegal in cali)that was a very lite black. Then the exhaust :O. I think he caught us too because We had all these parts but NO license plate. luckily the ticket was only for the license plate. That was like 2-3 years ago.

since getting my license, 3 time. in my truck or lex, none (knock on wood....) in my truck, if i see s cop, i lift it to where the tires are at the fender (so the sunlight dont shine through on my rear tires, bed cut out) roll the windows down, sit up straight, and hands at 10 and 2... and drive like i dont know im in a modified truck... works everytime... but if i was to get pulled over in my truck, i think life as i know it would be over. id get so many tickets. if i did get pulled over, as hes getting out of his car i would pancake, drop it like its hot, slam it to the ground, whatever you want to call it in his face...

my lex i drive normal, no speeding cuz we got some messed up roads here in hawaii. tints legal, only lowered with rims, not much tickets there.

i think police here only go after racers, not too much for lowered trucks, dont even care for suv's on 22's or 24's. i was driving my friends souped up 240sx at speed limit on the freeway and a solo biker 2 lanes to my left passed me, about 2 car lengths ahead i looked back at me and with hand jestures (2fingers) gave me "my eyes are watching you" wtf? scared to hell out of me...

Why is the car RHD?

I got PUlled alot in my 240 but Once I picked up my stock looking civic an dnow the Q no problems with the police. But now my car is high profile so I am sure it will happen sooner or later.

Nope no problems for me either so far. It's been a year and no tickets. I do get the running your tag bit quite frequently. As long as they don't pull me over and no tickets...I'm SKRAAAIGHT!!! I do drive slow now too. I used to love corners and diving into them in the 240sx, but now I just kick back enjoy the comfort and luxury of the Q.

1) I been pulled over once for euro front plate in Waikiki (I kick myself in the head for driving there)

2) Got pulled over about a month ago for excessive speeding on H1 going eastbound near the Bingham St. overramp. Cop never used radar so it is his word against mines, but no recon ticket....or anything else. (court case pending)

3) 1:30 am two weekends ago, pulled over by Walmart by dick cop saying I needed recon, no front plate & obstructed rear view (Executive Konnexion sticker; it ain't that big). I totally fought these tickets sending in written statements. That cop had a mean case of haterade....

NEVER just write a statement..always go to court if you can. I got many tickets in the past and only a hand full ever stuck..the rest got dismissed in court. Half the time the cop never showed up.

I never had recon on my Z either..which many of you know stood out like a sore thumb...but I had a secret weapon that the judge gave me..I had a recon exemption issued by the judge and to keep in my car in case I am pulled over for no recon. I even got pulled over by a "sting operation" including two old lieutenants and a rookie cop. After I showed them my papers they asked me to pop the hood, so I did..he saw I had my bumper support and said "wow, I wasn't expecting that to be there"..I told him "I know, that's why I had no problem opening my hood"..haha. They asked about the mods and thought it was cool. They were impressed with how well the car was built. When they asked what I did, the rookie cop answered for me..haha, he used to be one of my customers. Then it all made sense to them. I used to work on their Mustang interceptors. When the two old timers left the rookie told me "dude, if you don't get a ticket from them...you'll never get one". Hahaha, that was a funny day. Working at Hypersports over the years really got me out of a lot of tickets...since many of our customers were cops.

Not sure what to expect with my Jag though, hopefully it'll be so off the wall that they don't even bother.

when i drove about 15 miles home on a blown headgasket on the freeway (yeah i blew the compression seal between cylinders 5 and 6, no biggie) a cop tailed me for about 12 miles.

havent got pulled over yet....

after i threw in a metal headgasket and arp head studs, we test drove the car with no hood. every freakin cop we saw did a u turn and ran our plates..

no expects the cressida MUHAHAHHAHAHAHA

i got pulled over once in my infiniti. only because i took a turn too quick and the back end decided to go sideways a little. the cop was on my ass in no time, but no ticket for me..thank god! i got pulled over once in my civic for exhibition of speed..i got a ticket for this. and once in my truck for speeding, no ticket here. :smiley:

got pulled over this morning by Fullerton cops in my civic while takin a short cut through residential (which I never do but did today for no reason)... no ticket tho... 3 weeks ago got pulled over in Fontana for tint while driving my civic.... no ticket. The week before that I got pulled over in Ranch Cucamonga in my Q for tint and no plates.... no ticket. I get pulled over so much my kids are used to it........

I haven't been pulled over in awhile. I was doing 95 in a 65 (interstate) and got my car impounded. I'm lucky he caught me when I was slowing down for my exit. I've gotten a lot safer of a driver. No more sports cars (for now). With my new RL I'm slowing down a great deal.

GOt pulled over two months ago by gun squad (again)-reason, the car fit the description. THey made me get out the car and they searched me and the entire car looking for guns. They let me go when they didnt find anything even though I dont have a license.

GOt pulled over like 4 weeks ago for get this -My front plate isnt 12" above the ground. LOL. I asked the cop "what if I was driving a Lambo, would you have pulled me over for the same violation (since the front plate would be less then 12" above the ground from factory)?" he completly ducked the question and said "I never seen a Lambo with a front plate" I then went to jail for not having a license. The cops in jail took real good care of me because of what I drive. They were giving me soda and free candy bars and talking to me about cars. They let me go after two hours, didnt even have to go to bookings and they even gave me my car key back LOL. They said that the cop that pulled me over is a just known for being a dick.

My GS is red white and blue with american flag/bald eagle "support our troops" plates so yea..... I get more smiles then shitty looks from the cops. Normally I drive nice and slow but one day I was in a rush and was going 50 in a 30, accidently cut off a mini van, and took a right turn on red without stopping first. Cop saw the whole thing, pulled me over, I had my lisc and reg out the window by the time he got up to the car. He's like "Hey! ... you need to slow down ok?" checked me for warrants and let me go with a warning.

I have been pulled over in my Q 3 times never for actually breaking a law..... 2 for 'being too low'..... leaned my head out the window popped the air all up and asked if that was better. Cop gave me a nice talking to and got in his car and left. Other time was for swerving to miss a pothole and the cop thinking i was drunk..... at 2 in the afternoon.... in a suit.... He wasnt too happy when I answered his question "why were you swerving back there?" with "because your city sucks at building roads"

And just so everyone knows. I drive slower than 80% of traffic around me and follow all driving rules. I have plenty of respect for the law except when it feels the need to waste someones time because their car sticks out from the crowd a little.

Wow, you guys have it rough

I got waved over for the first time a couple weeks ago.
It was Cruise Night aka Heat Night, and I spotted a guy I work with chilling in a parking lot so I pulled in to chat.
The lot had a reputation for attracting noisy tuners last year so one time was posted there.
As I was leaving, I got waved over and asked where my front plate was. Apparently, "on the dash" isn't good enough (whatever, not a big deal), but that was it. Not a word about the ride height, wheels, or blue headlights.

Guess I'm not doing it right!

i got pulled over on the parkway hopping 3 lanes while doin around 75 in a 55 with only my class dj but i was coming back from work so tecnicaly i was able 2 b driving. but the crazy thing was that the state trooper let me go caz my 18th birthday was in month and caz i used my signal=) haha ohh and this was be for i had anything done 2 the car so that also helped

iv gotten pulled over twice for my tail lights. and they r the jdm red white red lights on my Ls400. the first time the cop had actually had a legit reason, i kept the white bulb in 2 middle trunk lights so when my running lights were on it looked like my revers lights were always on:pat:. that was a fun argument with the cop but he let me go.

the second time i got pulled over the cop said that my tail lights were "dim". i had absolutely no idea what he could of been talking about caz the tail lights r prity much factory but the only diff is that the middle is clear. so i asked 2 get out the car and have him show me what he was talking about. i got out went to the back of the car and he said look they r dim. i said that doesnt make any sense caz i didnt do anything to the tail lights. he said ohh dont bull shit me i know what lexus tail lights should look like. so i said well if i wanted my tail lights to b dim i would of tinted them over. he muttered something 2 himself and told me 2 get back in my car and get outa there.

So far I haven't been pulled over in my bagged xB. *knock on wood* I get the following for miles while running plates crap a lot though. I've been followed from the northern edge of Cincinnati, Ohio all the way back into Kentucky. And about 2 months ago got followed about 3 miles while he ran my plates. I pulled into a gas station expecting him to follow me because I was sick of it..

Now as for my VW bus, I've had all kinds of problems. Because I drive an antique vehicle that hippies used to roll around in, I'm a target. Hippies didn't even use my body style (they were too expensive at the time). The first day I drove the sucker to school, it had been in the parking lot for 3 hours before they had gone through it...
