One of the main reasons I fell in love with the Mercedes W221s was because of its digital speedometer. Now with this new feature, I might be shopping for caddi's in the future:biggthumpup:

WOW!!! I'm blown away. Hats off to Cadillac on this one. Impressive innovation and application of technology. Lots of possibilities here. I think a new bar has been set. Would not be supprised to see other manufacturers follow suit. Would also not be supprised to see this eventually tie in with other applications of technology (mobile and/or social). Very cool...

That's great, IF it works.

I never regret jumping ship and going to infiniti. GM is the worst automaker out there.

How many "features" can you cram into a car before it becomes just some unnecessary junk? Its really dazzling and all, but how many owners of these car will be able to fully understand and operate this system? To me this is just some crap that the marketing department came up with to fascinate the human monkey animal at the point of sale. Reminds me of sony's "stupid box thingy" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AyVh1_vWYQ So is it about luxury? Not for me. For me luxury is about fine materials, comfort, execution of craftsmanship with well though out design not just pure excess. If two cupholders up front is good, then eight is better. How about a car where all the glass is replaced with LCD panels that show whats going on outside? Then you can drive to different effects like VIVID, SEPHIA, BLACK AND WHITE. Or how about a car that has no steering wheel, and instead you control the steering with the steering wheel App on your I-phone. Simply download the App, Sync it with your car, open the App, choose one of the 123 customizeable steering wheel displays and then you just move your finger left to go left and right to go right. Its that easy.

Out of control rant lol. The entire point of this design is actually the opposite of what you've stated. According to their press release, their goal was to replace the highly complex 15-20 button systems that other luxury manufacturers use with a simple 4 button system and a touch screen. This means that the driver can now control the system at a basic level with 4 buttons, or completely customize everything with the touch screen. While I appreciate your perspective in terms of excess and going overboard, this is essentially how innovation works. If designers dont try new things, then no progress would ever be made. Love it or hate it, innovation moves us forward. On the flip side, the market never lies, and if innovation turns out to be excessive, useless, or retarded, then sales will reflect this. Designers are aware of this, and this acts as somewhat of a control mechanism in regards to what they design. This is why you dont see some of the more ridiculous things you described (which I thought was pretty funny hehehe). On a side note, I could go for more cup holders in my G50. Hahahaha, the design is horrible. I guess in 1994 nobody was drinking anything while they drove.

@crayhawiian If your gonna rant, Why not make it an out of control one? =)Ha!! I totally understand about trying new things. Thats the exact reason why I ask for a two finger blow-job when I pick up one of my lady friends (wink). Im just a little skeptical when I hear about new "digital improvements". Ill give you two examples I can think of off the top of my head. A family member recently bought a washer dryer set from a retail store. They said "its digital".... It had a blue LCD screen and you could scroll through menus to select your wash mode, and it was special. It was special because it took special detergent. Two weeks later it was broken. Next, a co-worker bought a new fridge. He says "its digital". Theres a camera inside the freezer and it shows what you have in there on a T.V. screen on the outside without opening the door. wow. really.or you could just OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR!?!?! But like you said man, time will tell and the market will tell. If you went back 15 years and tried explaining the I-phone to someone they might say it would be useless and that youre crazy. But look at all the amazing things you can do with it. If you find yourself in the plains of BURNT SCROTUM , NEW MEXICO at 3:45am and you just gotta have a slice of vegan curried watermellon cheesecake just reach for your trusty I-phone. I guess the moral of the story is this, "sometime you have to go through a lot of skeezy swamp donkeys before you find a nice lady that can give a real good two finger blow-job" RANT OVER

I just want to be able to play Angry Birds when I'm driving. Stupid jokes aside, I see it has potential if there is minimal load time between screens unless it's using a solid-state drive. As long as there is an option for you to customize your home screen (i.e. shortcuts) to reduce the amount of time necessary to get to a specific sub-menu, I think it's a wonderful idea. It is imperative they work out the kinks/glitches as much as possible prior to release.

Anyone who's technologically competent will probably use three fingers to navigate through the screens rather than one. I find it quite amusing seeing people from my generation type with their index finger. On second thought, I cringe (and shake my head in utter disappointment).
