im not trying to be VIP just VIP style. clean and low/wide. thats as low as i want to go due to houston roads and the coilovers are old school . it tucks tire a little bit so im fine with that until i get some newer ones. work ryvers 17x8 +0 17x9 +17 before spacers on cusco comp s coilovers. still working on the clean factor. some stuff up the sleeve...

the 8 +0 's up front are hella cambered so i will most likely space another 15mm and then the rears might get a nicve space. 25-35mm or so and hella camber on pulled fenders

the wheels are beautiful !! a 19" or 20" in that style would ROCK SO HARD on a y33-ucf10 ucf20 21 30, my god would it rock.

but IMO the wheels don't match the 240sx.

IMO it wont give that 'vip style' look unless its sitting at least an inch or 2 lower. Being slammed is one of the defining aspects of VIP and since you are starting from the opposite end of the automotive gene pool, you need to pull out all the stops to get the same effect.

going 'hella flush' with mad camber at that height is just going to get you a mexican looking 240...

But thats just my opinion :)

learn to drive, and slam that shit. aren't you a member of zilvia? haven't you seen zilvia's how low can you go v2. thread? you need to get as low as aaron or lindsay before you become vip style.

I am sure there are ways of getting that thing lower. My buddy got another 1/2" by removing a few spacers. See if that's possible.

Not to be a dick, but my Q is lower than that and it has a much longer wheelbase so going into underground parking lots is a pain...but oh well. Just take it easy and get used to driving low. It will require slower speeds, and taking time on speed bumps and driveways...oh and pulling in at an angle.

You can also make the car look lower by color matching the sideskirts and the front lip to the car, so that they stand out a little.

Overall I think the wheels look good on the car, and can't wait to see what's next for the car.

well if i take out some of the perches and or the helper spring then it just compromises the ride quiality. i mean i can at least take out the very bottom perch at least but thats one perch. and i used to have Ksports on my old s13 and that was fully slammed, so driving low isn't a problem.. but those coilovers suck imo. so i will just wait until i can afford some stance coilovers. lowest available slam with coilovers on the market. should be able to tuck the wheel ive heard. wish i had some amistad D in 18's.

Don't think the wheels look good on THAT car at all......my two cents

Dark Anghell

just pull out the helper spring. That one of the things my buddy pulled out of his Tein HAs, and the car handles just as good as before. All they do it keep the main spring in place. Many companies no longer use that little guy, my suspension doesn't have one, and I've never had the main spring pop out of place...and my car has had one of it's wheels up in the air due to curves on the road on more than one occasion.

01-11-2007, 08:31 PM
yes but the way its lowered is by the spring only. it isnt lowered at the spindle mount like other new coilovers. i think it will make it more bouncy and tend to be a rougher ride. i was thinking of removing both the lower perches and make a custom lower perch (single) and thinner and maybe some for the perches in between the spring and helper spring

def needs lower. and front wheels are sunk why so much camber

sand the paint off the sidewall letters, looks wierd

I know exactly the type of coilover you have...teins used to be that way too...damn that's an old suspension. Either way just try removing the helper springs...the worst thing that can happen is that you'll have to put them back in. But if the ride is fine, you'll be sitting 1" lower.

I do have to agree on the camber...personally i don't like the look of mass camber unless the car is on the ground. even then there are certain cars that have too much camber. You are right at the borderline.

17x8 +0 but i am going to put a 15mm spacer to go wider. and i just wanted to see how much camber i could get outta the suspension.

Why? To look super mexiballa style? Congrats, you win the prize.

Lower, 30mm front AT LEAST if you're trying to work with that camber.

I think it's Fuking HOT. I really like it a lot. I wouldnt touch it but maybe match the tires. I love the look of the white lettering. Very sharp. Good job IMO.

i hope to space a little in the rear and more camber to fit in the 1/4 panels. um the tires were free so i do with what i can. all in all its still built for drift, just trying to make it clean and vip-styled not vip. i was reading the VIP vs. EXE thread. i guess it would be more EXE per-say. no body kit for me though. might look into lip kit though. you like the white lettering? thats a first. i just hope to lower more this weekend, but its a pain in the ass the get the coilover apart lol

EXE applies to vip chassis cars. When you do that kinda styling on a non-vip car you just get a 'lowered car with wheels'

As far as the coilovers go... You can take out the helpers. They are designed to keep the spring seated when one wheel unloads (angled driveways, etc). Nothing else. When the car is on the ground, they compress FULLY. You may notice a little clunk here and there going into driveways, but that's about it. Like I said, once the weight of the car is on the ground, they helpers fully compress, making them solid, like a collar, taking up space. I had HA's on my S13 at one point, and they had them. Poke your head under there and look when the car is on the ground if you don't believe me.

You can get it done man... just keep moving with the positive imputs your getting and prove them all wrong. Nowhere in the rules says you cant VIPstyle a 40 (240). You need any advice i'm the 240 expert..."Yeah i said it"

i noticed though that i only have minimal clearance between the tire and the upper frame i guess, inside of the fender where the wire harness is relocated. i thought about taking out the halper spring to lower it more and run no body kit, but i like the supermade one, but im not gonna get it. im just gonna clean up the stock body. like filling in the blinker holes and the side marker holes and stuff like that to give it the super-made bumper look and maybe try my hands at a custom lip kit after i do some more reading on "how-to's" but all in all its gonna be a drift car just wanted to make it different and clean. key word is "style"

comeon dude. I live in houston too and my wald bumper sits an inch from the ground on springs. in fact I'm going lower this week by running smaller spring pads. AND I live off westheimer. jv is NOTHING compared to southwest. u saw how low my wrx was too... I know u can push it much lower.

i am i just haven't yet. i need to take the coilovers apart i just need air tools though. and yes your wrx was low as hell, i like the wald project better though

What you may have to do is move your wiring harness off to the side...my buddy had to tuck his away between the fender and the frame. Doesn't greddy make a lip for the car? If I remember correcly, they are polyurethane, so they won't crack just bend...slam that thing so that you can barely stick your shoe under the car...that's when you'll be at the right stance.

Overall this car has potential to be VIP styled...but it will take a lot of work. From the amount of work you are planning on putting into it (no kit, etc.) I am not sure if you will be able to achieve the look you're going for.

If you are down to do an S15 conversion up front, someone is selling the supermade kit for an S13...see if they are willing to sell just the front. Otherwise do what 100% of other members on this board do...get parts from Japan, it's not that hard...just takes time. Wheelchoice.com can get stuff from yahoo japan auctions, members from this board can get you small misc. items, and autofashion can probably get the kit.

Now it all comes down to how much $$ you want to spend on the car. Not to be a dick, but if you are like 70% of other 240/corolla owners, this kit will be way out of your price range. But if it's not, you can get it without many problems.

PM OneTonVIP on this forum for SuperMade.

You really can't compare the 240 to the civic with what you are gonna do.

If you rice it out, YES then it's the new civic.. Please don't rice it out!
