View Full Version : Is anyone else here anxious for 3F3F?
I don’t mean that in the positive way as if we were waiting to open a birthday present or a box of cracker jacks. When I say “anxious” I mean it in the negative context like being anxious to have your eyeballs operated on.
We saw what the first 2 movies did to the car moding community and it had overall a very adverse effect. With the 3rd movie on the way both drifting and VIP are about to be introduced to the general public. I’m not sure what my fellow VIPer’s think of this (hence my post) but to me it’s the worst possible thing that could happen.
I would hate to see VIP be misrepresented or worse, misunderstood by the typical teenage moviegoer. I cringe at the though of someone seeing me driving around in my slammed black Wald LS400 and have someone say “Hey! tight car... 3f3f!!”
I’m hoping (sorry drifting crowd) that VIP will be overlooked by the drifting. I can handle a bunch of 240’s driving around with crazy shit and whatnot but the thought of a bunch of punk kids in infiniti’s and older lex’s cruising around with god knows what retarded shit hanging on their car makes me sick.
What do you guys think?

whats wrong with an older lexus?
Drifting is well down the slipry slope of ricerdom..
hopfully VIP dosnt follow
whats wrong with an older lexus?
Um... nothing? I own 2 :P
That wasn't really the point of what I was trying to say.
Anyway, drifting is fairly far down the slope as you said but (IMHO) nowhere near what it'll be when this movie comes out.

Kinda like my friend having turn tables in the back of his xB. He has had them for a long time and every time some kid walks by they say "thats some pimp my ride stuff right there." No, No, No. I don't think he ever saw that episode, and had them in his accord well before he got the box.
The new movie will be one that I see just to see how bad they mess everything up.

it might help vip style tho.....with increased interest we will get better product availability. a year ago i couldnt get half of the stuff i can get now. with some major exposure maybey we can get great stuff easily. with more people getting interested will get more people to the site so we can show the what VIP truelly means.

I guess I look at it differently. I thought it may reach a wider audience (the style that is) and perhaps we will see some true VIPcar styling in the US. Perhaps we will see less kids with a 96 LS400, 5% tint, and Motegi wheels, perhaps we will get people trying to really bring more of the style, attitude, and trends to the US.
Im sick of seeing a great VIP platform go to somebody with no class or knowledge opf the car's history in Japan, and the culture that surrounds the car.
But thats just me :).

I'm actually trying to get my car in the shoot right after SEMA. My proposal is into the producer, but no word so far. The plan is to drive it to LA right after SEMA and leave it with them for a couple months....we'll see.... :-\

I guess I feel the same as some of you when I say I hope drifting gets blown up so much that it makes the audience overlook VIP, but I know some would like to have VIP exposed. If anything, I hope that the movie helps me sell my 240 if I can't sell it by then. :) I'm anxious to see the movie, I'm pretty sure it'll be entertaining somehow.

I dont know what to think about whats going to happen. I think people will over look the Vip Cars because if they dont know what to look for they wont notice. Theyll just see a slamed 4 door car being driven by the bad guys, and you know these kids wont want a boring black low 4 door car, unless they totally ruin the true meaning of VIP by adding some flame throwers and vinyl graphics, on some 20X7.5" rim with a 35 offset. I also hope they pick some real VIP cars and not just any 4 door car they can come up with on dubs, or even worse a Caddilac Escalade or some dinosaur sized SUV. I think this movie will probably throw drifting into the toilet like the first 2 movies did with street and drag racing. Lets just hope generic companies "you know who they are" dont start making VIP bodykits for a CRX, NEON or Cobalt along with the 3rd Generation VIP tailights and* VIP headlights with real strobing action... :P BTW does anyone know anyone who acually put their VIP car in this movie? just curious.

every once in a while I'd read car megazines in the bookstore
and there are really nice japanese cars done up in JDM style
then there are also other cars that are just plain rice...
so my thought is:
let the ricers do thier thing and become our laughting stock
and we stay true to the VIP spirit... the difference will show.

Hmmm I believe my friend just delivered his car to the set for that movie earlier this week. he said something about compensation of 5K for a couple days of shooting the car or something crazy like that. But when your budget is in the multi millions, that's a drop in the bucket.
speaking of crazy budgets, it's all about the sultan of brunei

I think the style in its pure form wont catch on, you'll just see parts of it catching on. the more exe rides may catch on but a slammed ride with extreme wheel and tyre combos are a bit to much for most people and dont have the same ghetto "bling bling" factor other styles have. There will be backlash from it though, and you'll end up with a helluva lot more kids rocking up with non vip cars (like me,though im not viping it no more) sporting a half-baked version of vip claiming thier all vip now. Ive already seen it happen in one of my modded australian car mags and unfortunately kids are all about fads these days and theyll use it up till its dried out. On the bright side though you guys riding the real vip cars done up real vip style will be the coolest people out thier to all the half-bakes. Gotta love that! :D

dude, u have no idea. I hear that shit at my shop at least once a day. "ohh youtre like west coast customs!" or "i want you guys to pimp my ride"...and people are serious too. its fuckin horrible. and yeah i really hope that it doesnt affect the vip scene in a bad way. but who knows, maybe it will us all famous because we have vip cars!! hahah

LOFL! :2funny:
The movie exceeded my expectations, which weren't high at all. I was surprised at the total lack of VIP Cars from the movie. And the only "Style Wagon-esqe" car was the lime green VW Touran. :P After seeing it, I wish the producers did more research into the Japanese car culture than they actually did. Sure they tossed in some drift vocabulary, [Power-over, hand brake, clutch kick] but it dosen't prove a depth of knowledge.
However, I was glad to see a Super Made Silvia appear at the end.

I saw it, good for a laugh. Acting was so horrible..Lucas Black had an angry face and a pedosmile face...that's it.
Zachary Ty Brian as the jock in the beginning made me laugh, he looked like a white hulk! Sure has changed since Home Improvement.
I found the movie had too much action, not enough drifting. I was hoping for some more technical stuff, instead it just looked like your average Hollywood car chase movie, Sean was power sliding his car all over the place in the first race, why was it so hard for him to do it in a car that could actually handle? Oh well

dont worry its already been bootlegged and i got a copy 3 for 10 i gave it a 7 3/4 for some what chick action sequences.
The acting of course blew and was dumped severly and some stunts of drifting were cool i guess(hmm wonder why)
ehh ya exactly what i wanted to do and expected. I dont know guys but thank you for no vip they would be
throwing the beauties around ramps in no time you dont think... think again were some crazy mofos. ;D

Not true. The gold Fairlady with the tribal vinyl has a Top Secret widebody, the silver Fairlady (not DK's) has Top Secret aero and the APR Evo8 is decked out with the APR Evil-R widebody and wings.
Out of the lead cars, only 3 had Veilside aero: DK's widebody Fairlady, Neela's RX8, and Han's RX7
Not to mention all the 4 wheeled extras that didn't have Veilside aero.
