They are about as far from VIP as you can get - being Honda's budget small car (the smallest Honda available in Australia). But those that you posted do have VIP style... I love little cars with vip style....

The red one in the center looks hot, and for some reason, I'm really feeling the two tone one, and I like it's wheels. I'm looking forward to the Nissan Cube coming over here, I saw many of them in Japan last time and really like the blend of boxy with some curves. The wife will be in the market for something soonish, I like the Xb, but I like the Cube even more.

The Jazz will be out in March guys so start saving. They are already a huge selling car outside of the United States and I can't wait for them to come here. I have a little project already in the works for that car... ;)

Oh my, the 2-tone Fit is absolutely beautiful. I am delivering my blue Honda Fit in 2 weeks. The one I have is the newest version that comes with the 1.5L V-tec engine pushing about 110hp crank. Tiny little engine but can be made very fast due to its light weight.

It's funny when I think about it coz I am purchasing 2 different cars in replacement of my Aristo. I got the super tiny Honda Fit and the super gigantic Toyota Alphard.

Those cars are already here, just last month I saw them testing them here. I was in Lancaster by the AirForce base and saw 3 of them driving by, my friend says they have been testing them to see how they perform here in the states... 8) They were nice in person and really small... ;D

Seriously, these cars were the best selling cars in Japan for like 3 years in a row, beating ALL other car makes and models by a wide margin. I had the 1.3L i-DSI engine a couple of years ago and that thing already hauls with 80hp. I can't imagine what this one with the 110hp will feel like. No need to compare it with the gargantuan aristo TT engine because it would never be in the same league, but for what it's worth, this is an awesome platform. Much better than the civic hatchback I am currently driving I think...

i remember at HID in san diego, i was stopped by this lady and dude that worked for honda and they were doing a research study on the FIT. they ask me all kinds of ?'s about modifing and what not. i asked if they or when they were gonna offer it in the states, they told me they didnt know, but i guess honda just needs feed back from the US market first.

We're not really getting the Tida are we?????? When we were in Japan, we tested one with the in-laws and what a nice car it is! When we came back I emailed Nissan NA and asked about it, but they said there were no plans to bring it over. We're in the market for a new car for the wife and the Tida was her favorite. It's actually a good bit bigger than the Fit or Vitz though.

I wonder what the price point on the two cars will be?

Cheaper than the Scion's?

From what I read in MotorTrend, Car and Driver and the other mag, is that
the Toyota Yaris is coming in the Spring of 06, and the Fit might be early quarter of 06'.

I will wait out till those cars comes out, before buying an Xb....
I was already going to purchase an Xb next week for the wife, but might just wait it out
for a few more months...

Nope, it's between 13 and 14K. Nationwide rollout is 9/2006, possibly earlier in some markets (???)....

In comparison, the Toyota Yaris 3dr will be around 10-11k.

^^ The Fit's a hella lot nicer than the Yaris IMO. Saw em at the DC autoshow and if anyone is seriously considering buying one of the two, dish out the extra 2-3k for the Fit.

No offence guys, but it kinda seems funny that everyone is so excited by the Fit over in the US. The land of big cars and big engines, excited over a dinky little 1.5 with a CVT transmission. The word pimp being used to describe them also seems very out of place; but then I am in a different country with different attitudes etc.

I see it as a very small car with a kinda high pricetag - too narrow and tall for my liking, and mostly seen being driven by young asian girls. But for what it is, it does it well - economical, zippy, easy to park etc. I'd just rather have a Yaris + mods for the same money :-)

I still can't decide whether I'm happy or not when a JDM car comes to North America, because in a way it's like "Yes! Finally!" but then I've got nothing to complain about ;D

I do agree that these are meant for girls

I for one am really glad to see that small cars (Echo Hatch, Scion x-series, Aerio, Yaris, Fit) are making it to North America and actually getting a nice welcome because it's not only nice to see the cars because I like them, it's a good trend in general, because these make much better getting around cars in our growing metropoli (is that a word?). Easy to park, good on gas, pretty green, ergonomic....it's much better than the junk J-bodies (no offense) etc. that people looking for practicality and economy usually choose.
As for them being girly, well...I don't really think that's fair but okay, to each their own.

If practicality means having a girl car, so be it....I want a girl car ;D

Now, New Beetles - overpriced and impractical but soooo cute, that's a girl car :o

Dominik
03-12-2006, 03:42 AM
Well its not totally a girls car, but little hatches have that reputation in Australia. To tell the truth I drive my gf's Echo more than i drive my Cima or Cedric - its like half the lenght of the Cima (easy to park), and it does 500+km on 30L of petrol (compared to 300km outta 55L with the Cedric).

I even considered selling the Ced to get one and fix it up like the Fabulous Vitz; but one thing i hate about little hatches; they are little! You feel like you are constantly the smallest kid in the school full of big bullies. I suffer from much less stress driving bigger cars ;)

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey, I resent that! I drive the "girly" Fit 90% of my commute time. Now I am gonna have a lil angst over my metrosexuality. Excuse me while I run and get me my pedicure.... *snickers*

LOL Jon, is that your wife's car or yours now? My gf had about 15 Pooh bear teddies in the back window when i met her. I have whittled it down to 3, but I got the windows tinted so nobody could see me :)

Nothing wrong with driving girly cars!
