My wheels and suspension came today and I was too excited to wait to put them on. Still a long way from rolling though. I need to go through the suspension again, roll the fenders, get it aligned and new tires

Nice wheels! AMEs right? How about some negative camber in the rear and if you have coilovers you could lower much more.
Sweet!

Those are SSRs...looks great. Those are the wheels I originally wanted for my Q.

Thanks guys!
as for specs: coilovers are Dark Angell's old JICs, still need to install camber/toe arms, level the suspension, and align it. Not sure how long I'll be keeping the JICs, hopefully it will be bagged in 6 months or so. Wheels are SSR Vienna Kreiss, 19x9 +6, 19x10 +0. The coilovers can go maybe 1.5" lower than that, and it will definitely need some camber in the rear. The pic makes it look less cambered than it is

yep....i've always liked these wheels...but my joints are coming, should look good enough to turn some heads. Nice set up cvc. very good choice on the wheels. by the way... I'm calling dibs on the JICs before he puts them up for sale.... premature dibs ftw. lol

aaaaannnnnnd done. sorry for the poser in-the-grass pics, I'll get better ones later. still going to put on wider tires and I think 5mm spacers in the front. The coilovers now are pretty much as low as they will go and I want it lower. The fronts ran out of travel before they maxed out the threads, which I though was a little wierd. Definitely getting airbags as soon as I have more time and money

They look nice. I'd wait to get spacers till after you get air or you'll just have to buy them allover again..but then again, small spacers are cheap. Just be sure to center them well so you don't get vibrations. Not many of the cheaper spacers come hub centric.
zion_97

Really nice mang..what kind of coilovers did you say you got..Seems like they should be able to go lower..Another silver Q to remember.
cvc9216
05-06-2007, 09:26 PM
thanks, the coilovers are Dark Anghell's old JICs...SA-1s I believe. I'm probably going to get 5mm H&R spacers, which are hubcentric. I have some nismo studs lying around, I might get 10mm depending what it looks like after the new tires and alignment.

thanks!
I just mounted 245/35s on the rear and aligned it. The rear fitment is perfect I think, just a couple mm from the fender and a tiny bit of poke but no rubbing. I'm gonna mount 225s on the front and 10mm spacers. Unfortunately I got screwed on the coilovers i bought, the fronts are blown! It's barely driveable right now b/c the fronts knock so bad. So that's gonna set me back a little bit. I'm thinking about trying to get s13/S14 coilovers to work but I'm not sure yet. I'll post some more pics soon

s13/14 WILL NOT work on the front. If you installed your coilovers you should know this.

No, I unless you run a s13/14 spindle up front it won't work. which seems like a waste of time and effort for little or no gain. Just get yours rebuilt, or buy some ones that arn't blown. And I seriously doubt dark anghel sold them to you knowing they were blown, so i wouldn't say you got screwed over by him, that's just the chance you take when buying used parts..

Yes I know what it will take to get them to work. I don't think it will be that difficult, it will be quicker than getting mine rebuilt plus I can get double height adjustable coilovers new for under $1200. Which will allow me to go lower than these more safely. and I paid for good coilovers and got blown ones, call it what you will.

That sucks that the coilovers you got from DarkHangel are blown..
Hopefullt he did not know that when he sold them to you but if he did I think he shuold give you your money for the fronts..There was a thread not to long ago about a gentlemen who order a JP kit and got a knock off JP front bumper,,I still remember those folks replies on the subject so I am not sure if he would be willing to work some sort of adjustment for you but I would try..
As far as the coilovers go who do you know that will cut and reweld the spidles,, I tried many places around where I live and noone would touch it because it is a cast steel..thats very hard to weld and thats why JIC ships them to Japan to have the work done thier..IF you can accomplish what you are wanting to do I say ..PROPS to you..I know how fustrating it could be get something you ordered and it not work right,,I had a similar problem with my JICs I got from Yahoo, The guy said they were Y33 JICs and they were Y32;s I got them to work with about $400 more so all in all it worked out for me. it was a headache and all but the point is when buying used parts its risky..gots to trust the vendors or a well established seller..Darkhangel has been around here for a while and from what I can tell hes a pretty cool dude so just explain to him your situation and perhaps he may help...
Cheers

the price he was asking was cheap as hell man, i mean really.
they also make dual height adj (or whatever they are called) for y33's. I mean if you want to go through all that work that's cool. You may possibly be able to get lower than a y33 set up. who knows...
the main thing i would worry about is the lower ball joint. although you have 2 sizes to choose from since s13 are smaller than s14's. However, i guess you could try and run a s14/13 ball joint in a y33 lca. Interesting enough idea.
Zion - he is talking about running a s13/14 coilover AND spindle. Which would eliminate the need to use the factory y33 spindle so no cutting or welding involved as far as the spindle is concerned.

listen I know they were cheap, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't get what i paid for. I wasn't expecting to have to deal with the cost and downtime of having them rebuilt. If they were advertised as needing a rebuild I wouldn't have bought them. I think it should've been obvious they were blown. I noticed they felt loose when I first got them but I just put them on hoping that's the way they are supposed to be. But it's possible he just didn't know. I explained the situation to Pavel and he said any refund is out of the question. I have no recourse so whatever, lesson learned. This is the second time I have bought a used set of coilovers from a reputable board member and gotten blown shocks. Take my advice everybody, buy new instead.
anyway on a lighter note, I have an s13 and an S14 here, I have an extra set of S14 abs front knuckles and lca, and an extra set of s14 coilovers. the rears shouldn't be a problem. S14 coilovers are too long, but S13s should be the perfect length to go mild to super low. The fronts I need to measure before I do anything, but my plan is to use the S14 lca and knuckles and just weld the brake line brackets and sway bar bracket to the coilover's lower mount. Y33 camber plates wil be needed also. I think I'm gonna get a set of stance coilovers since they seem to get good reviews and they come with 9/7 springs. The basics are under $1k. I'll take more measurements and pictures and post my results when I get some time.

Those are the x10s +0, which actually have very similar fender clearance to my 19x11 +11 and the same 4.5" lip. The rims in the pic is the set I'm going to be selling.
thanks guys for the compliments. I will have better pics of my car with the 10/11s once my new suspension comes.

Still looks very nice for 19x9/10's and lots of lip.
