hey guys! its good to see the ozzys up in here!!!! So how about postin up your pics! Im stuck at the moment because i cant decide what ride to buy, i def wanna roll vip style i nedd just a cruzer since i keep loosin my licence with turbo cars etc :'( I was thinking about a 90 Celsior but i have seen so many pimp rides since then that now i cant decide. It comes down to whats available in australia (well mostly) for the car and if it has a factory suspension that can be manipulated with an after market controller like the celsior because I WANT TO STAY LEGAL as possible because im sick to death of all my cars gettin defected (im in Adelaide) ! ! A lexus would be nice im also interested in the y33 cedric. My budget is 20k and i have a civic to trade or sell which will fetch 10k so around 30...a ride for 20k would be nice and 10k to mod it would be sweet, also it would be nice if i could run an LPG setup to save some funds on bullshit petrol.....any thoughts??

Well, if you are in Australia then you are kinda limited in what you can get (esp. in that price bracket). Y33 Cedrics are not available, as there is no RAWS workshops for them. That leaves:
Y31 Cima/Ced/Gloria (around 87-90)
G50 Q45 import (1990 models), or one of the few local models (1994, much nicer looking)
Possibly an F50 Nissan Cima (though that would be around $30k)
130-series Crown (88-90), imported
UCF10/11 Celsior (89-90) Either one of the imported ones or a coil-suspensioned local model
UCF20 Lexus LS400 ('94~?) Local model
JZS140 Toyota Aristo (94-97) import
JZS160 Lexus GS300 ('97?) Local model
Thats out of the traditional VIP cars anyway, you can realistically buy anything and apply VIP styling though. You could also look to older Mercs etc, cos they can be done in VIP style as well...
And if you want factory air suspension you are stuck with either the Y31 Cima/Cedric/Gloria, the 130 crowns or the imported UCF11 Celsiors, all the others have regular coil suspension
One thing to remember though, if you want the VIP look with aggressive stance etc, the only way to get it looking fat when lowered, is to have it so the wheels stick out at regular height... Kinda catch 22 really. I am just going to try and keep the REST of the car as legal as possible, and just accept the defects for wheels and height...
Edit: look here for pics!

Edit 2: Forgot about the Toyota Crown!

Thanks Dominik, Cheers for the list of factory air suspension cars and the listed other rides you mentioned. Its nice to have a bunch of us that are into some nice style and some friendly help when needed. Im gonna sus out the ones i have not really looked up yet and hopefully can come to a decision soon so i cant start my modifiy challenges ahead! Hope to see ya all on the road and hopefully we can all organise a true VIP cruise! :)

No probs. $30k is a good budget for a VIP car; it means you can go for the newer Lexuses, or a very wild pre-built car and go all out on it...
But unless you go for the 3 i mentioned, you'd need aftermarket air suspension; not sure if thats legal in SA. And if you go for a newer car, there will be a temptation to go with cheap conservative offset wheels so you dont have to modify the fenders (rollling them etc); then you end up with a DUB car, not VIP.
Good luck!
