I'll be the first to admit, I enjoy watching the show. Not because of their "style" but because I just enjoy cars and car accessories.

but I'll tell ya, they are the epitome of lousy american style. It's always the same nasty ass leather colors with the nasty ass color shemes and their same gawdy ass wheels.

fuking aye, it would be awesome if they had a "Junction Produce" show with the same "unique whips" show themes. Real style, real class and real, well thought up SQ sound systems.

can you imagine....."junction produce" vs "unique whips" gets whooped. :)

I watch Unique Whips because there are cars. I hate their "throw money at it" style.

you know what my favorite part of that show is? when they spray paint an escalade dash. outside. then the paint flakes off and they try to blend in more spraypaint. man, they are true professionals!

Thats what I thought too..they spray paint interior pieces.. ;D

Another thing I find funny is how the owner will basically just start talking to the owner/customer on what he wants to put on the car instead of the owner telling him what he wants.. :idiot2:

Will " Oh yeah, we will put the STRUT grille, some 22" Giovannis ,Pirelli tires, JL audio subs and amps, Alpine upfront, suede headliner, color matched leather interior..."

Reme "so you want me to spray paint the dash the same color too"

But I like the episode with VIDA :smitten:

hahah yeah, theyre not good at all. bolting some parts onto a car doesnt make you good. i wish i was in w/ professional athletes too, they apparently think paying 3,000 for a spraypainted dash is hot!

Some customers have no clue when it comes to modding cars. There is a local shop here that pushs what they want and says "This will look good we'll do this and this" and are very convincing and intimidating. They are able to push the crappy dubs with the most markup and make a killing. Its no suprise they have a C4, Viper and other toys because of their high pressure sales tactics.

On another note they are having a competition to go and hang out with the guys. There is an Eclipse owner on the local car board I'm on revscene.net He is getting the most votes on their and is going to tell them how much they suck haha

I watch it but not for the cars in all believe u me i like when they do the fiberglass and wiring and stuff i like to take mental notes..
i give it too them they know how to get that ish done but after they go own about how big the rims and brands i turn it off its irrelevent to me.

I never liked the show, to me it's just glorifying a parts orderer and installer. Good stereo installers are a dime a dozen and it doesn't take any effort to ask a manufacturer what wheels fit. They out source most of the custom fabrication and paint to the real professionals. You take away their "A List" customers and what do you get, a regular "wheel, tint and stereo" shop that you can find any where.

I'm also moving this to off-topic since it has nothing to do with VIP.

i agree v8 but its not like you can just cant go into any regular custom install place and say heyy do you mind me squating here for a hr will you do a full blown spl custom fiberglass inclosure i think not! to get to see how its done persay is sort of informative. but your right take away the ballers and all you have is a regular dimeadozen shopp.

The funny thing is theres nothing unique about the whips they all have a Strut grill, the same interiors, the same systems, the same speaker inclosures it just all seems a little repititious damn I forgot the Lambo doors and yeah the spray painted interior pieces have always frightened me :buck2:.But like some of you have said they are making the BIG BUCKS so what do we know?????* :uglystupid2:

The reason they can put what they want on those cars is that they set those trends as industry standard years back before they got their new shop and now people trust their judgement and taste. I wouldn't, but others do. The 22's on an SUV look took off because Unique pushed it on the right rappers. Very good business move, and now everyone is doing it. I'll pass on the show...

Just like what Jbo said at the end of the day they are making money off of these so called artists and that what counts as a business owner......the almighty dollar.

we also need to take into account that this is a show about this company, its much like west coast customs everything is for the most part acted out to get people to watch I would hope that if you came into those shops it would be a little different but who knows. I know that if someone made a show about the shops that I have worked in it would be very boring if we did what we normally did.

Hey whats up guys today your going to watch me line up an intercooler, make ic pipes and install them. After that im going to not talk for the rest of the day while i pull a motor and put a new one in... oh I might grab lunch and smoke a few cigs during that time. (now that is not fun to watch at all!!!)

That being said I have only seen one episode of the show and its a joke but what can you do otherthan not watch it.

Yeah Stacie, I thought he was one of the best tech guys on TV.

Didn't he leave to work at Wyotech? He was super good at explaining how to do things. I bet he would make for an excelent teacher. Kind of nice to have someone who encourages you to sanely pursue the more difficult projects... Can't stand the new guys.

Yeah Stacie is good...I was watching a rerun of Trucks today with the S10 that he bagged...he makes everything look so easy..

Same with the Horsepower guys, except with thier budget Civic project, which they couldve done better with the looks department.

it's honestly not worth watching. see a fat dude talk to a celebrity, tell him what rims and tires are going to go on, what sound system's going in, guys spray paint some stuff (as mentioned before), do a little install work, celebrity comes back and is wowed by whatever gaudy wheels were slapped on the 7 series/range rover/hummer h2/old school car and what audio's on the inside...
