I speak of the Bosoku/yankee style cars that are not crazy looking. i.e. 71 Skyline.

U.S. Dub style got nothin on this. All they have to do is drop the piss out of the cars and they'll have it!!!!

DUB (the company) actually has that formula down. Their flagship 300C was bagged and layed frame over nice 20" wheels

But isn't it interesting how, 90% of the time, you can still tell the difference between a car modded in the US vs. Japan? Sorta like with Chrysler 300s... even with both cars on the ground, you can tell which one is from the US, and which one is from the land over there

firelizard
05-17-2006, 04:15 PM
Oh yeah for sure...well, that used to be the case. But the scary thing is DUB (or some related company) is actually coming out with some bodykits that look a lot like the mild exe kits that are coming from Wald and Fabulous for the newer cars, except they're putting them on 300s and Chargers.
And then you have Japan adopting the DUB style. o_O

Ah, you can't show a car like the chicayne w/o also posting a pic of its engine bay
http://daniel.oberrecht.com/images4/chicayne%20engine.jpg
for those interested in the sickfish (joe rogan's cuda, I suggest getting "The Build Book" that chronicles the buildup of the car)
Hmmm, on the subject of bad ass engine bays...

but isnt that kind of obvious? obviously there is different styles in japan than here, and 90% of people into DUB s*** could care less what people in japan are doing. just like if you took a person from the US and a person from japan 90% of the time you'll be able to tell where theyre from due to their clothing style.

Don't be too quick to judge if you could tell who was from where based on clothing style. I've seen it all already. Japanese into the lowrider scene look mexican right down to the clothes they wear. Those into the DUB scene wear that style of clothing too. Then there is the drifter/racer crazy hair styles and such. you got the beatniks with their Yankee style, VIP in suits and DUB wear. But thats what I have observed since I lived there.

Here's another related anecdote... check in some of the japanese spo-com mags, and note that, although their style is trying to emulate the USDM sport compact cars, they still look inherently better... and that's usually due to the better stance and wheel fitments. Even when they run the cheaper, 1piece, cast wheels, they go a little wider in width, or a little lower in offset, or usually both, and the result looks like USDM spocom cars taken up another notch.

JDMJim

I noticed that too just from seeing them in person. The work is top notch. Makes us look silly.

this is true. they def spend more attention to the smaller details, unlike most people here who will just slap on a set of wheels as long they fit on the car, and dont take the time to make sure they will actually "fit" the car if u kno what i mean, and i think u do. haha.

Aha! I knew it. The Tjin Edition Skyline looks so much better without all the sponsor vinyls and crap!
That's a really trippy colour, it looks different in almost every photoshoot.

JDMJim

it would look better without the 20" wheels too. drop the height and increase the width is my philosophy.
