first time i was introduced to VIP was when i picked up a car magazine (don't remember exactly what mag) and saw the falken tire ad with freddie's LS430 and nicks JP Y33. It caught me by surprised because it was the first time i saw these specific cars fixed up. It also showed the curtains and high class girl stepping out of the car. i knew this was some gangsta shit on a higher level! after that i did my research and found vipstylecars.com picked up a Q45 and will never go back. even tough i wouldn't of seen the ad i would probablly bump into someone with an AF sticker haha.

im just curious how others were introduced to the VIP scene and how you got started?

I was in the Market for a LS430 or F50 Q back in 04. I have a hard time leaving cars stock so I did some research on google and other sites to see if there were any nice lip kits I could go with. I stumbled apon these beautiful VIP cars on sites but all the writting was in japanese. Shortly after I discovered this site.

I just wanted to build a GS400 back in 02 that was "different" from everyone else. Back then, the JDM scene was completely jumping off the hook and I wanted something along those lines but yet, "different"

and here we are...

I seen Chris' (Dajap) Xb for the first time. I was looking that car up and down, and then I ended up meeting him. We spent 7 mos. in Kuwait and he gave me the whole rundown on the scene. As soon as I got back I sold my CRX and bought my LS. I have always loved clean body lines, luxury, and a nice stance so it all just fell into place.

Robert aka face aka {-.-} got me into VIP way back in 2001 I believe.

Started with just asking for magazines to full on buying car parts. Oh yeah ClubLexus is where I first saw a nice VIP LS in the states...it was Cutecboy's LS with the full RANDO kit and before the facelift.

Then tried to do the LEXTREME way of having a TT V8 *funny thing is I actually had a spare 1UZFE in my garage for the turbo manifold mockup* LOL

But realized the LS is best suited to be a cruiser not a bruiser.

back in the late 90 ricey days when i had my mr2...i was always intrigued by the big 4 door sedans. I always wanted four doors. I loved the lines of the accord. And always jocked the 4 door civics, then one day when I was looking for the latest Option magazine at Mitsuwa I bumped into Auto Fashion (magazine) and EXE. My eyeballs popped when I opened the book and it opened a whole new world of Luxury 4 door sedan tuning to me. I started trading my option and Revspeed magazines for AF and EXE. No turning back now. I just hope one day we will get a U.S. version of a VIP magazine. back then Superstreet and Rides promised to have an article of atleast one vip car per month. Liars.

Googled Lexus GS300 and found the Junction Produce site started looking then i was hooked, VipStyleCars also came up when it was first made because I think back then there were only about 20 members at that time and after looking and talking to fellow Vip entusiasts I was hooked. What really got me inspired was seeing John's car (vipstylecars) at the Autobacs meet a while back, that made me more determened to build my own VIP car. What was even cooler was on that day I ended up winning a discount off of JP parts in a raffle he was having which really helped me start my GS.

hahahahaha ok so this is interesting ly funny to me, It was roughly Summer of 2004, I was working for a retail tuning spot that dealt mainly with eBay, so one of the salesmen and I were talking about what the next biggest scenes were going to be in the US according to t he trends and logical steps we saw the industry taking, we were dead set on American DUB and VIP being the next waves over the current JDM and drift and Intergalactic Spaceship bodykit days. That was my first taste since we were talking about it and he had mentioned Japanese VIP since his buddy (whom I had already met) was into the scene. Well I looked it up and found it interesting.... but I was a Honda man, there was no alternative except classic hot rods.

Enter 2005 when I started a business with fixedtl, and he was into t he scene with his VIPstyle TL.... I was in the market for a daily driver and found my G35, he introduced me to this sight, I read and read and lurked for a while, then i signed up and the rest is history.....

Well for me it all started with my first car when I was trying to build my Ford Probe project. It was my first car which was given to me by my pops! I've always had a passion for cars and customizing thing just came natural! (I HATE RIDING STOCK!!!!!) N/e wayz while building my car I met my brother C4President who showed me a shop in our neighbor hood called AutoFashion! C4 and I would drop by there every so often and hang out. While going to a few shows I got my first taste of VIP when they used to have a bagged Chysler 300! I know, I know! :pat: I was amazed to see airbags on a sedan like that and even better it was controlled by a keyless remote outside the car. Well as fate would have it, one morning I was on my way to work at a stop light and some guy lost control going down a hill and totaled my car! :saiyancrunks: So now I was in the market for a new whip! I looked at everything from an NSX (which would have been fun as hell) to a RX7. I knew I wanted something different and something nobody really had. So while I was hanging out at Auto Fashion I got the idea to look for a "VIP" car. I started to hang out at AF and read the masses of VIP mags they had. Researching and looking for the ride that fit me the best! I knew my next ride had to have Leather, and all the ammenities you would find in a more luxurious vehicle than a ford. My first choice was a older M45, but it was too much at the time and I was told of the "Elctrical problems it has" :( too bad cause I love it even to this day. Then I caught a glimpse at Nick fom Falkan's Q45 and that pretty much sealed it for me. So I did some more researching find my car and purched it! Now I was really a fan until I grabbed a hold of my own VIPcar/VIPstyle mag. after that is when I would read it from cover to cover, over and over to the point where my girlfriend would say "That's all you do is read them magazines"! Hahaha! Ever since then I have been a fanatic of the VIP culture and everything it has to offer!
OKAY I'M DONE RAMBLING!
Great thread though!

Seeing bad-ass widebody saloons got me hooked. First it was just random pics, then the mags, and finally followed Jtanoyo's link to a little forum which didnt ridicule the crazy cars like other forums did...

Hasnt that little forum grown!

Saw a "Vip styled" Nissan Cube photochop on PhotoshopedUp, then a Lexus.

My interest was piqued and I did a bit of Googling, and found this site.
After a lot of learning got pointed in the direction I wanted to go.

In 2005, my girl hated my S14 because it had an SR swap, but no air conditioning, the coilovers were too stiff, the lsd clunked all the time, could barely fit her cousins with us on special occasions, and there was no point of having a drift setup car when there's not many drift events in my town. I wanted to buy something more confortable, but yet still a Nissan so I would be familiar with how to maintain it. I also looked at late model LS400's and early M45's, but the Q45 was more in my spending range. Knowing that I always have the tendency to tamper with any car I own, I did some googling on parts for the Q45, came across this site, across some Japanese VIP Q45 pics and then what finally made me buy the Q45 was when I saw a great deal for my WALD kit from an Ebay seller in Hawaii. What's funny is I bought the kit 1st, so I was then forced to get the Q45, lol. I ended up selling my S14 immediately after picking up the Q and the modifications and planning started from there in the summer of 2003. My girlfriend is happy with the choice, so that's really what matters to me.

It all started for me before I picked up my b back in 04' I was doing alot of surfing to figure out which way I wanted to go with my box I wanted something out of the norm thats when I came across Dave Moultons car which was headed in the VIPstyle direction. Later that year I went to SEMA and Junction Produce had a booth wow that was it I was hooked our founder had his GS and LS in the booth seeing these cars up close and in person I was in awe I already loved the dropped look of any car back then but seeing it on large luxury sedans was a first. John even gave me some stickers, a JP video, and put me up on the site he had in development. Im pretty sure it was December when I started lurking around by Jan I became a member and here I am...HOOKED!!! thanx John

Im glad to see it landed in good hands. I was actually suppost to have bid on that kit for my best friends brother (he introduced me to Q45's. He had the G50 in the early 90's and the Y33). Needless to say, I got busy at work and couldnt bid last couple of minutes likes I had planned :pat:

I got the kit a week later. It was green, but looked to be unused.

Off topic as well,
Yea thats the one. I was hoping he would relist it for even cheaper then he had it there for. No worries, my friends car still looks the same way it did years ago. You took yours to the next level

I'm a member on this automotive news forum and a topic was brought up over a year ago about VIP cars and people started posting up pics of VIP cars and I was blown away at how amazing these cars looked. Now, I've always been into compact sports cars and modifying them pretty heavily, but I've always been into big luxury sedans mainly from Lexus and Infiniti. So, I told myself when I start climbing the corporate ladder I would get myself a nice luxury sedan. Then I stumbled onto this site and signed up so I could learn more about this style and now I'm ready to get myself a VIP car. Now, that I'm in upper management and started a business of my own...I need a more professional looking car than a hyped-up hatchback. I'm excited to get a VIP car and start customizing it.:runcoold:

+2 on John's gs that drew me in. my first glance of it was at a auto show at the convention ctr in sd. think this was when freddy had the yellow civic (way bck). at that time, i was just in the market for a new car and it was between the e39 or gs. fate got me into the bimmer world.. but i was still lookin at vip mags and this site... just this year i finally got the ok from the wifey for a 2nd car, so the gs was a no brainer, plus my bro and homies had one. my e39 is being neglected right now.
