we (''suspended''wayne and i)* managed to get the rear 5 lug conversion somewhat done. at least to confirm the fitment. looks good to us. there's still a lot of adjustments we can do to make it fit better. i can definitely wedge it upwards another 3 inches with a bit of trimming to lay the kit on the floor.

-YES i know the car is very messy but after we confirm fitment on all four corners and do anymore necessary bodywork(like the front door handles),then its off to paint.

thanks guys but still quite a ways till the EXTERIOR is done. interior is still horrible ''its a 10year old honda!''
the tires are a bit ''chunky'' i think i might step down from 245/40/18 to a 235/40

I was thinking How did he fit 10" wheels on an Accord? Then I noticed the wide fenders.

Well very done!

Can I ask what you use for five lugs? The 98+ hubs?

OnTop

thanks guys for the support

as for the five lug conversion, try this out this is how i started out. surprisingly i bought the rear prelude hubs/bearings and rear 98accord rotors from my neighborhood discount auto parts store and they were the cheapest.

front:
complete 92-95 odyssey knuckle

rear:
95-94 accord EX (not V6) disk brake conversion
97-01 prelude hubs
98-accord v6 rotors

i think i paid about $550 for alll

heres a link from UNCLE EL(he used to have a 4th gen accord)

depends what you consider to be "quite a bit."* the cost is generally around $500-1000, depending what you buy new, and what you buy used.

i know 3 guys that have gone from 4 lug to 5 lug on accords (all 4th gen, but suspension wise, 4th and 5th gen accords are basically identical).* you get potentially more access to a larger selection of wheels (you can find 4 lug wheels that are "vip" but you have to do more searching, at least for the typically conservative offsets of accords), and you switch from hub over rotor to rotor over hub design, which makes brake changes go from 1-2 hours to about 10-20 minutes.

im glad someone in the states is showin the CD5 some love, or mods that are actually worth-while. setup a high standard for the CD and hopefully others will follow and it'll be somewhat accepted as an older platform- i would personally take care of my CD if i had the $ to do so- ive always felt that for a honda- that the accord had a "presence" :)

finally back from orlando, thanks guys for the support on this build. its going to be pretty exciting

nice specs..but why 18? :(

well i had 19s before but i just didnt like the way the car sat, the roofline was pretty high. with a 18 and stretched tire i think i'll get the stance i looking for. using 18s is more of a fashion statement as well. you dont need dubs on a honda to make a scene

Looks good. Just need some negative camber and you'll be set.

as for camber, im looking for a good set of camber arms for the front and rears to get a good stance

update: 5-15-06 pm
both rears are completely done aside from Ebrake cables -automatic-

update: i finshed the entire lug conversion but im still out one brake caliper. i aslo reinstalled my air ride system. other than that its all about working on the stance. as you can see, the rears need to come down quite a bit. my plan of attack will include a 235-40-18(now 245-40-18), neg 3deg camber(with modified camber arms), and toe correction(rear are pointing to the middle of the car), and trimming the helper spring on the rear air cylinders.

enjoy: sorry for the bad quality, there are 2 pics put together

05-21-2006, 11:52 AM
Hey arch im curious how you are going to manage door panels with a widebody judging by the way the ls flows and your rear door widened its im curious to see how that will turn on of course you will have to mold some kind of flat panel to stay flush with teh rear???
wow man im really interested to see the end result of the super vipstyle cd5. i have been following the progress so we shall see....

Flat, smooth sideskirts would go a long way towards changing the look of the car's profile also... and definitely will tie the front and rear bumpers together a lot better. Hmmm... what color were you thinking of going with this time around?
Oh, as for door caps... since you're down with custom fabrication, I'll PM you a good OEM source for some door caps I stumbled on...

check out www.alsacorp.com
They've got a really crazy vibrant silver basecoat...
But have you considered something other than the black, white, or silver? For the body shape, I'm sorta thinking something like a slightly purple-tinted gunmetal gray would look quite nice... like the color on garage magical's Y32 cima

UPDATE: i finally lowered the rears today i gained an additional drop by trimming the helper springs and cutting out more clearance in the wheel wells. the distance from the edge of the wheelwell to the edge of the lip is now 4cm, opposed to 10cm. once i get the smaller tires i should be able to trim more off the helper springs and close the gap between the wells and the rims. ill post pics then
