While i miss my AME Shallen CX's (Schrifts) like crazy, they were destroyed by our shitty PA roads. >:( These Columbos were a quick fix for me. Went with black to match my badges and grill. A full body kit is just not an option for me with all the hills and pot holes around here. :( I know this look isnt for everyone, but I like it for now.
some of my setup:
20" Donz Columbos stagggered ...20x8.5f / 20x10r...I forget the offsets
Tanabe sustec Pro SO-CII coilovers
APex'i WS exhaust
SRT intake/race ECU
TRD front STB
molded TTE front lip
UGO roof spoiler
Veilside Exec rear spoiler
AbFlug grill
Toyota Japan visors, CF pillars, Quarter CF garnish
2001+ tails

it's a good look!
it's very clean.
no plans in painting the grille silver? 8)
maybe throw in some 10mm spacers or more would look better fit ;)

true, it would look better, but i'm mad paranoid about spacers. Not to mention I had to take the Tanabe's up a couple turns just to get these wheels to stop rubbing.

So are you considering getting "better" fitting wheels and going lower? The "damn, i cant go any lower and buy better wheels because the roads around here suck" EXCUSE doesn't work around here anymore. :)

already been down that road. Check one of my old threads for the bad-ass set of AME's I had before. They were perfect for me, and anybody who doesnt drive in PA wouldnt know this, but we have the WORST roads in the country...hands down. So airbagging and bodykits around here = a major PITA, unless you dont care about keeping your car nice. + Try getting a damaged Schrift straightened...u cant. You have to just buy new. Once you've been hooking up vehicles for 15+ years, this all starts to get old, trust me. Besides, I have other better toys to play with. :)

Everyone has the "worst roads" in the country, atleast that's what I hear from all those threads. And believe or not, air suspension absorbs more impact so you don't dent your wheels. I guess if you think that your AME's were a perfect fit then we are way too agressive with ours.
As you said, your love for modding cars is deminishing. I wish you luck on your better toys.

thats bullshit. our shop used to be in the backwoods of northeast PA, where the roads are ALOT worse than pittsburgh, where youre from. and theres soooo many godamn bagged minitrucks and sick cars w/ kits it s crazy. everyone gets airride to accomodate for the shitty roads....that what air is better for.* im in upstate NY and we have horrrrrible roads and my air has been perfect for it.
saying u wont get a kit or air because of your roads isthe worst cop out ever.

Hmm I'm gonna have to agree with cali on that. I am too from Philly pa, and the legit only reason dudes with kits is because they run them damn fondas with 3'' inch coilovers to the ground and the drive the crap outta em that after doing 50 over potholes and not giving a crap of course your kit and such is gonna take a beating and believe or not thats what i see people doing well of course if you dont take care of the car and make the proper accomidations before then you shouldn't really have to worry about cracks dents leaks or bangs with air really, and this is why im pushing for a better suspension is because i can go all out vip and not run excuses why i cant run dishes or a kit period.

ummkay guys.....the bottom line is this: there are many other things in my life that are more important to me than just modding a vehicle, therefore I'm just not as much into this as I used to be back in the day. Period. And please dont talk about the roads in a city where you dont even live, you have no idea. I also live in the HILLS & had to install and re-install my TTE lip 3 different times due to how sloped everything is around here. FACT, like it or not. No cop out necessary. ::)
there are articles like this about our roads all over the web:
http://www.etrucker.com/apps/news/article.asp?id=50480
OVERDRIVE HIGHWAY REPORT CARD 2005
WORST ROADS
1. Pennsylvania
2. Missouri
3. Louisiana
4. Michigan
5. California
If I were still that heavy into modding, air and / or a kit might be a consideration for me. Sooner or later you get tired of the hassle of installing and removing mods from a vehicle when you go to get rid of it. It's just not worth it to me anymore. LOL...I could see me pulling up in something fully bagged and kitted to take clients out....they would look at me like I'm f-ing crazy...and then go buy from someone else.
And lastly, NO, I'm not judging anyone for doing whatever they want to do with wheels, susp, bodywork, to make something original. The whole reason I like this forum is b/c it's something unique and different. I love the more aggressive style of mods, but they are just NOT FOR ME personally. So why am I getting all this shit about having something thats done conservatively? ???

You shouldn't worry too much about what we say, you are on a VIP forum where extreme is the norm. So, if we see a car that's not "normal" then we always have something to say about it. If we don't, newbies will assume that this is what the style is here. If you are happy with your car then that's all that counts.

Your car LQQKs good......... At least you can say you have a VIPcar. Heck MOST that have a car on here and are trying the VIPstyle and its NOT a VIPcar wish they had one. So your one BIG step ahead of them.
Now speaking for alot of folks WE are addicted to Modding :smitten: Take your time with what you like and if thats all you end up getting its ALL GOOD!!
The only thing I find enjoyable to spend my money on other then MY CAR :-[ Is Traveling........
PEACE!!

heh heh, no biggie guys...it's just an online forum. I would never take any of this stuff to heart. I accept all feedback, good and not-so-good. Thats what this place is all about.
v8 Aristo - not sure if you know this, but I have been drooling over your car on CL ever since you got air. Check some of your old threads, you'll see.... I sooooo wish an air setup was practical for me, but it isnt. Maybe someday if I decide to keep this car for the long haul and get something else as my daily good weather car.
{-.-} - you have always been a cool dude, thanks for the comment. 8)

yeah man i wasnt trying to be a dick to you personally, i was just showing that the PA roads arent an excuse because i know tons of kids that live in the middle of fuckin nowhere PA and drive some hot bagged and kitted s***. I used to drive a civic that was literally 1 inch off the ground, and i went through about 6 front lips haha. its all part of the game tho. thats cool if youre not into it, just dont use the roads as an excuse.
oooh i just though of the best example: the other week we bagged/kandy red marble paint/nos/18's on a 2005 bonneville GXP ...and the guys a straight HICK anbd lives on a dirt road about 30 min from any type of town in PA hahah
but anyways, i agree with {-.-} ...at least you have a VIPcar! sorry to come off like an asshole. :o

Amen to that........... Most are here for that.
The rest come and go BUT you will see them back when they get that true VIPcar/style.
By the way I want to know what your better toys are to play with ;)

Yea my apologies to for being directive i just kinda get pissed that people use road excuses too much when they could do what they wanted. Umm yea its all good here but like others said bra you do have a vip car so done up or stock its still steps ahead of the rest.
we are the few of the man that represent true vip chassis so its cool all good or not its constructive crit in the end thats all but its cool.

no offense taken...it's totally cool. Thats why I come here is for fresh ideas and opinions on a style known as VIP before it becomes not-so-underground anymore. Although I think that may already be happening, sadly... I dread the day that ever happens. But like I said, around here I cant even keep something as subtle as a damn TTE front lip attached to my car without ripping it off 2 or 3 times every year. So I finally just told my body guy, "F___ it, just mold the damn thing to the bumper."
And of course I wouldnt even have joined here if I wasnt all about hearing constructive criticism. :)

mrkenji - the tanabes arent too bad at all. They are supposed to be super-stiff, maybe I'm just used to them. :-\
As for darker tint, I live in PA and our state boys are real dicks about tint. I have been pulled over twice in the past year or so just for having the 50% stuff I have now. Sucks. >:(
