View Full Version : My dilemma

I am starting to look for parts for my Cedric right now. I have a clear understanding of the order in which I need to do this; Coilovers, then wheels, then kit, then exhaust, and finally respray. But recently I have seen a sweet looking kit on Yahoo selling for an unbelievably low price. It’s the Samurai Kage Story bodykit… Normally I am very picky about kits for the Cedric; only one other style that I like (K-break V-Lux Edition), and that is very expensive. The Samurai kit is almost as good and its something I would like to try out

My dilemma is this: I refuse to put a kit on while I am riding at stock height with stock wheels. It doesn’t make financial sense to spray the kit now, since I may need to modify it to fit flares for the wheels. And unfortunately I do not have any storage space to store the kit while I search for the rest of the parts…

Should I leave it, and possibly miss out (I contacted the seller a little while back and they said they cannot keep selling it at this price because the manufacturer complained).

Or should I get it now, and hope that with the shipping delays and customs etc, that I will have sorted at least the suspension by the time the kit arrives?

you can almost count on 60-90 days for the kit to arrive... Willl you have the suspension by then? If yes then go for it, if No the you might want to look into temp storage...

LOL, being that this is one of the only Y32s in the country i am expecting that i'll have to order the suspension from Japan as well! (actually i am hoping i can get custom made coilovers here, but not sure that my budget will cover it).

I'll look into temp storage... Unless, 555, are you offering to store it for me? I trust you :D (not like you can sell the kit - not many buyers i'd say!)

Are there any finanical constraignts at the moment? Because I like the look of the Samurai kit as well, but if its a rare find then I'd say buy it then immediately look for suspension and wheels so they would all arrive at nearly the same time.

Agreed dom, if i were you i would work my way to getting the kit asap. At a chance of not getting it again let alon on the price do it.
Plus like you said you can rent a small garage of storage to keep it in mide as well get some other stuff to store also to get moneys worth.
i def like your cedric though i wish we could get in here o well.

There arent any financial restraints; more of a practical restraint. (my point about coilovers is that i know i can get JICs for around $1k; I wouldnt want to spend more than that for custom jobbies)

I think you guys are right. I will call some importers today and get it started... Since all the other mods will end up taking time, i can see myself missing out if i try to get it 6 months down the track. I think I will spend a long time looking for the right wheels

On a side note, its all fun and games inside the Cedric right now. I am in the middle of retrofitting a later model digital gauge cluster to it; 50+ wires to cut and solder since none of the plugs are the same. I hope it all works in the end!

i can't guarantee the kit will be safe in my garage :P and my apartment some called it 1 of the most unsafe apartment in da city
but its a locked up garage..anyway that's the only space i have that can store for this kinda size of thing...totally up to u, i don't mind ;)
